Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We were looking forward to eating at Din Tai Fung in Taiwan which is where it all started. We were not disappointed. This branch is at the Sogo shopping centre and as you arrive via MRT you head to Level B2. There was no queue and were able to be seated immediately. We ordered xiao long bao, wonton and noodles, golden lava bao, to name a few and they were all delicious as per the DTF standard. Service was excellent and attentive and our cups of tea were constantly refilled. Also as we ordered some vegetarian dishes the waiter mentioned lard is used, in case we had a strict vegetarian in our group of diners. We hope to go again this trip. Highly recommend of course !

For the unfamiliar, Din Tai Fung is a chain across Asia. If you’re from the West, it’s perhaps a bit like the Nando’s of the East. And if you’re not familiar with Nando’s, then perhaps it’s the TGI Fridays of the East. You know exactly what you’re getting: this is a chain restaurant experience, but nonetheless it delivers it well. And we came to this Din Tai Fung because it’s where it all began: the start of a sprawling empire. We queued for around 40 minutes. If I’m honest, I disgraced myself just a little bit. Id been in the pub beforehand - and after watching much larger tables arrive late and get served far more quickly - I cheered theatrically when our table of two was finally seated. Still, the food was food. Dumplings, rice, lashings of tea topped up the second I got close to running dry, and more dumplings. Visit here because it’s the first, although perhaps don’t make it a habit.

We have dined at Din Tai Fung several times, but not at the Fuxing Branch, so when our friends who live close by invited us to dinner, we accepted gladly. We had some starters, including cucumber with garlic sauce and thousand-year- old eggs with tou fu and scallions.. We then had several boxes of guo tieh, which Americans call "pot stickers" plus pickled cabbage. We then had some steamed dumplings, which are known as "jiao dz," with shrimp. We also ordered also jiao dz stuffed with egg and green vegetables. Everyone had a good appetite, it's rare to leave Din Tai Fung unsatisfied.

Most people say Din Tai Fung serves excellent food, especially its shao lung bao. Some old Taiwan hands, who were in Taipei before Din Tai Fung was around, claim some other dumpling restaurants are just as good, but a lot cheaper. In my opinion, like any other top-class restaurant, you are paying for the ambiance, as well as the cuisine.

We always come here whenever we need good food with reasonable price. The fame of this restaurant comes from its delicious gourmet, great service & varieties of selection. We always have one order of many things to create the happiness of trying a lot of things. 18 folds steam bun, egg fried rice with ribs, sweet & sour soup, steamed chicken soup, shrimp dumplings with spicy sauce and appetizers such as spicy sliced cucumbers are the signature dishes.

We had soup dumplings, drunken chicken (chicken cooked in (Shaoxing). Rice was stir fried prior cooking that made the rice less mushy - tasted amazing. The young bamboo shoots are in season- sweet and crunchy fresh. We also love the sweet soup (see photo) A bit pricier but they are totally worth it he money

We ate at Din Tai Fung's first store many years ago. From there, Din Tai Fung have spread world-wide. The reason is that they make the best dumplings, especially shao lung bao, those delicate Shanghai dumplings which are full of piping-hot broth. You nibble a hole in the pastry and suck out the delicious broth. There quite an art to making them, and Din Tai Fung does it best.

Din Tai Fung opened it first dumpling restaurant in Taipei several decades ago; now every self-respecting city has a Din Tai Fung outlet. However, the Taipei restaurant is still among the best. Din Tai Fung is celebrated for its xiao lung bao -- delicate dumplings filled with piping hot broth. You nibble the skin of the dumpling, then you suck out the flavourful broth. It's a treat that you will never forget.

The restaurant was at B2 floor in SOGO shopping mall, and opened at 10am - a bit early than the other Din Tai Fung in Taipei. We were lucky to have time to enjoy it before taking a flight back home, thanks to the early opening. Staff was amazing, very professional, polite, well trained and attentive. All the dishes we ordered, of course, were amazingly good!

We order their most famous dish, bun, fried rice. Simple things, casual dining, great for predictable quality.

We love the food here. It is always delicious. The only problem is the long long long waiting time - you need to come at non meal time ...

Undebeatable to grade them awesome on food taste. But it's too much crowded. I have to wait at least 40 minutes to get a sit. Not recommend for impetuous person .

Well this is the place to eat any kind of Dumplings. The Xiao long bad were great, but we liked the ones with lamb even more, but I really dońt think, that you can do anything wrong here. Make sure to make a reservation or you will have to wait up to 30 minutes for a table.
