On a recent 12 hour layover in Taipei, I ventured out to the Mitsui Outlet Mall, which was only 20 minutes from the airport by MTR. Lots of food options but I craved some "Taiwanese" food, so I chose Dian Shui Lou. As a solo...traveler, it's always hard to decide what to order when there are so many choices on the menu. Lucky for me - and good for the restaurant - there were two "one person" option meals which include a variety of six of their signature dishes in perfect one person portions! Dessert included! The food came quickly, the service was efficient and friendly. Loved it!More

Turnip cakes are wonderful pastries we enjoyed so much. My wife's favorite was Swan La soup, it was just right and she is picky about this sour spicy soup. Shanghai dim sum steamed dumplings were tasty. Service was by all young people. I thought service...would be terrible with no sign of an older manager managing them but I was wrong. They were attentive and knew this large menu and were so polite despite being a very busy restaurant. 3 for the food, 4 for their service. Well done young people.More

A popular restaurant needs a reservation with large during dinner time. We had tried a location but couldn't get tables for 16 of us. But we did get a reservation at this location at a popular shopping center. The food is really good for my...taste, especially the appetizers. All of us did enjoy the dinner there. We did try the steam dumpling and it's not bad at all. This is a high priced restaurant, be prepared to pay!More

Highend restaurant serving the Shanghai cuisine. Set in the Mitsui Outlet Mall in Linkou, this is a classy restaurant to rest for lunch after a hard morning's shopping. Nice environment, nice food, good service. And the price point to show for it.

For fans of Chinese food, I think it is commonly acknowledged that Shanghainese fare is probably among the more fancier styles of cuisine with its sweeter milder flavors, larger selection of sea food, and delicate cuts, cold plates and appetizers such as the world famous...soup dumplings. If you are in Taiwan, Dian Shou Lou (點水樓)is one of the top restaurants in Taiwan in terms of higher class eating and Shanghainese food. The decor is unmistakably high scale Chinese, with a big throwback to the old country when Shanghai was the Paris of the Orient. Large selections of cold appetizers are available in the glass displays. Shanghainese pancakes/scallion cakes or 煎餅are available in different flavors or cuts. Of course, you can't go wrong with the soup dumplings here. Din Tai Feng is more trendy, but this place does them delicately and in different flavors such as crab and even basil! Since I was here in November we chose Dian Shou Lou for our Thanksgiving meal. It did not disappoint. The crab we had with our set menu was one of the best I'd ever had. For three people there was so much food we ended up taking some to go. Compared to most other spots in Taiwan this is a tad expensive. But for Thanksgiving it was a nice way to celebrate abroad with family. I'll be back!!More
