Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Came here to have a traditional Taiwanese breakfast with very reasonable price. Many varieties food and drink can be chosen for hungry people in the morning. Ordered peanut soup, almond drink, egg pancake and white reddish pancakes. The restaurant is named because it’s located by the temple. All food and drinks are delicious and authentic. Great place to have your breakfast during your Hualien trip.

This restaurant is unique for its ducts from ceilings. There’re 3 of them, plum, black tea and apricot kernels. Drinks for the tank are on the 2nd floor and they serve by opening the faucet when order is placed. Interesting! I had apricot and my husband had plum. Both are good! Their Taiwanese macarons looked good, regret that I didn’t try it.

This 24H place is famous for its innovative brass tubes transferring beverages from the first floor down to the Ground floor shop! It also serves other traditional Taiwanese delicacies, such as the Taiwanese Macaron. I visited this place during dinner hour and was lucky that the line of people in front mostly were just getting take away and I got a seat right away. The savory egg pancake roll I had was filled with floss pork, delicious and simple. Whilst the macaron caught me off guard. First it looked nothing like the French macaron we were used to, it also is not as sweet. And the center is filled with a marshmallow like filling, it was yummy but I didn't think it was special enough to order one more. Some Taiwanese travel blog had mentioned they had a secret menu and serves Kim Chi instant noodle. Sadly, it was not sold out already when I ordered.

I was trying to walk to this famous breakfast store twice during my light travel in Hualien, but I got lost. In the end, I finally found it. However, I was disappointed about the food they serve. I knew they might have tried hard to make food, and I should not complain about the taste. But it is not as good as what bloggers or journalists recommended. At some point, I doubt whether they are overrated by the commercial bloggers. Anyways, their black tea is okay, but the breakfast is just soso. They try to serve a variety of food but that makes them lose their specialty. You can find a much more tasty breakfast nearby at much cheaper cost.

This place has a lot of old style Taiwanese food, desserts, and drinks. We visited this place cause it was very famous. But we thought it was just okay. Give it a try and see if you like it or not.

To me , this so another example of having greater fame than it deseres. Have heard very much good things about the black tea all the time. However, as I eventually tried it, I realized it was nothing but ordinary black tea. Having said that, it is still very popular among both local people and tourists. Don't know why.
