Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s exactly as described, a cheap and cheerful vegetarian buffet. The food is largely Taiwanese, so either local vegetarian dishes or vegetarian versions of local meaty dishes. Easy to find - although it is on the railway track side of the road unlike where google maps put it.

The adult fee is 220 ntd which you pay at the entrance. The staff are all welcoming and nice. This is one of the best buffet we've ever had (much better than some of the non vegetarian buffets we've been to before). Hot coffee and selection of cold and hot tea is included as well as ice cream.

For NTD220 we got a sumptuous vegetarian buffet. Dumplings, spring roll, noodle, even ice cream. Very good food. Must try if you in Hualien.

Vegetarian and vegan food are available here. You pay €220 and revisit the buffet as many times as you like. Drinks (tea, water) and ice-cream are included in the price. It is a lively restaurant with helpful staff. A lovely evening out. Great food too!

We went on a Tuesday night around 18:30. It was apparently the rush hour, but we still managed to get seats. A bit before 19:00, waitresses were still refilling, every dish was available. Food was really good, a lot better than what you expect in a western style buffet, and there was so many different options! You have to pay NT220pp at the entrance before getting seated. The day before we also tried Greenland, the other vegetarian restaurant. This one is cheaper and quite good, but the atmosphere is crowded like any other cafeteria. Greenland was a bit more pricey as it’s not a buffet (but still cheap), but food was even better, and the atmosphere was zen and cozy. Would recommend both.

This vegetarian buffet was delicious. So much variety and deliciously cooked fresh food. No deep fried food so plenty of healthy options. The dumplings are best I have ever tasted. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

Really great food for the amount you pay, and the dumplings!! Amazing! And so is the shaved ice dessert. You can have coffee and tea refills, just help yourself. I think you can get yourself a small tub of ice cream too. I only had the shaved ice for dessert. Would definitely come back here towards the end of my trip in Hualien!

This is by far the best buffet I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to a lot. And the fact that it’s vegetarian makes it that much better. I was there yesterday and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. Or talking about it. They have so many options. And loads of veggies too. Everything is delicious. Everything. Wow. The place can change lives. It can maybe even save the world. I don’t know how they make such tasty food, and so many options! How do they do it? I don’t know. What a place. Wow.

If you are heading to Hualien city, you must give Chang Chun Teng vegetarian buffet restaurant a try. Honestly it is a vegetarian’s dream come true; even a non-vegetarian will find this place awesome. The variety of vegetarian dishes is sufficient. Most importantly the selections are all extremely delicious. Please note the price is super affordable (under $8 USD)!!!!! There are vegetarian buffet places in Taiwan that cost as much as $25 USD a person and serves crap; so a higher price doesn’t even mean good food. Also another positive about this place is that it replenishes the dishes extremely fast. I find that important because it is really annoying and disappointing when a buffet restaurant fails to replenish empty trays (I experienced this in a much more expensive vegetarian buffet place). The restaurant also has a little storefront selling vegetarian food. I also see people buy take-out; that is most likely cheaper than eating inside as you try to stuff as much as possible into a box. Seriously, it is much more enjoyable to eat at the place. Give this place a try if you are going to Hualien city. You will love it even if you aren’t a vegetarian. I have posted some photos of my favorite vegetarian dishes from this restaurant.

Ivy Vegan Buffet (Chang Chun Teng Vegetarian Food) is the one and only vegan buffet one can find in downtown Hualien. Although the price has gone up, the quality and delightful eating experience remains the same. Just look at the crowd during dinner hours! (There's free parking space across the street, very convenient!)

We went at 6 on a Tuesday and it was very busy but we managed to get seats (quick turnover). There was loads and loads of food to choose from, all high quality, as well as free water and green tea - it was 200 per person. Dishes included a variety of soup, noodles, salads, spring rolls, sushi, sandwiches etc. (Hot and cold)

Chinese vegetarian all-you-can-eat self-service restaurant. Located in a street on the north side of the train station. We arrived at 5.30pm on a weekday. They have additional seating upstairs. The place quickly filled up by 6pm though turnover seemed fairly quick. The restaurant closes at 8pm. Also closed on Mondays. Casual dining atmosphere with mainly Chinese diners. You pay the set price at the cashier till on entering, are handed your cutlery and allocated a table. My husband and I shared a table with a lone diner who was polite but just got on with his eating. A large number of dishes are laid out on several tables which were constantly replenished, occasionally with different dishes. In general, the food was fairly simply cooked and flavoured (you can adjust the flavour to your own taste with various sauces). They aren't trying to create mock meat dishes like you get in Hong Kong vegetarian restaurants. The paper placemats state that: the food has no MSG or other artificial flavourings, organic vegetables are used and they do not cook with high temperatures in order to retain as much nutrients as possible. Many dishes make use of tofu (soya) and taro which are classic Chinese veggie ingredients. You can help yourself to green tea and coffee, small vanilla ice cream pots and taro flavoured ice lollies. Overall, a very filling and cheap meal (TWD200 = £5 per person!). Makes a nice change from typical Taiwanese street food which is usually strongly flavoured and/or deep fried.
