Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Waited 25 minutes for our coffee which was served cold. Waitresses spent some time chatting with customers while serving them, even though the place was busy, while serving and one patted a visiting dog! Hope she washed her hands afterwards. We are locals and this...was our first visit, not sure if there will be a second.More

I've been here before and the dining experience had been excellent. But what about Boxing Day 2023? The menu on the day differed somewhat from the one on the website but being a statutory holiday, that was OK. The three of us all happened to...order steak, medium rare. They all arrived plastered in some sort of yellow sauce. One of us liked it, another didn't and I didn't mind it thinking it was some kind of cheese sauce although we hadn't seen that detail on the menu. On enquiry it turned out to be horseradish crème. Also on the plate were 6 stalks of grey asparagus, 2 undercooked whole carrots slightly dry quartered potatoes swimming in very tasty gravy. Many eateries serve sauce and gravy in juglets just in case the diner wanted a choice. Desert was satisfactory, one ice cream and one apple crumble. The server was friendly and helpful.More

Service was terrible. Absolutely neglected. There was 40 minutes between when the first meal was served and the last. There were 4 of us. 3x burgers and 1x salad The salad was slush and the chicken on it so chewy it couldn’t be eaten

A big thank you to all the staff at Thirsty Acres. The MG Car Cub enjoyed breakfast for 40 followed by a car trial. The weather was appalling, but the fire and staff were very cheerful. A great venue.

I used to drive for their rugby club so visited so many times. The old pub burnt down and was replaced by this rather garish new design. The old pub did 'pensioners' lunches'. Now they do gold card discounts. Let the food take your mind...off the new building. It is on the ladder towards 'divine'. Good selection, friendly service, mulled wine in the winter. Although it was sad to loose the past, this is one of the few places that give hope for the future. Rock on.More

First time here and were totally impressed with the environment, staff service and food quality and all at a sensible price with a very good value bubbly on offer. Food was delicious and we will be back.

OK - it is a pub, and (at least the afternoon-) menu is mainly limited to finger food, fish& chips and a number of burgers, breads and some salad. Having said that - all we tried (nearly all of the above) have been very good...and clearly fresh prepared. The sauces coming with the food looked and tasted homemade. Had as well a small (but very nice) selection of desserts. If this is what you like - then this is the restaurant for you. Good beer and good selection. To round all this up - the service was just lovely, the food for our group of 5 was delivered in the order we asked for, the mains came all together, and for the 3-year old they even had a play corner with carpet and toys! The owner checked whether we liked the food ... and told us, that they have more diversity in the evening. We might need to come back to check.More

We organised a Classic car tour ending up at the Thirsty Acre in kirwee. When booke4d a month ago the staff were very accommodating. Come the 2 july 2023 the tour was on 17 cars equaling 30 people. Rang the Thirsty on the off and...informed them of numbers. No problem to accommodate us all. Even thought we were one of three car groups booked. The kitchen performed magnificently all meals out quik and all were of excellent quality. The Club were very pleased with the destination. Thanks John and Jenn for your hospitality.More

We met friends for Sunday lunch. Upon arrival it was noticeable that the owners had put a great deal of thought into this new building. The spacious dining area with its high ceiling that follows the roof pitch provides a unique dining experience. The only...downside for me was that there appeared to be little thought about acoustics in that, as with most modern buildings, the hard surfaces simply reflect sound back into the dining area which in turn creates a very noisy atmosphere. The bar area is very spacious and well stocked. I had a pint of Monteiths Original and my wife had a glass of Merlot. The cost was similar to other establishments we visit. The quality of the food was average and the portions not huge, this size didn’t matter too much as this was lunch. The lunch menu was not inspiring, very basic, and could be enhanced with a signature dish that is unique to the establishment. Staff were very friendly but lack of experience with some clearly showed. Coordination from the kitchen was somewhat dysfunctional but in their defence the restaurant was almost full. This was our first visit and we intend to return in a month or two.More

An amazing experience here, we would highly recommend! The food was incredibly tasty and the waitresses and bar staff were all so lovely and welcoming. The restaurant was so busy and gave the place an awesome buzz to it! The owner was also gracious enough...to give us a complimentary drink to make up for a small wait on food which was understandable for a busy night! There aren't many options in the area and this is by far the best choice. Overall a great experience and we will be heading back very soon!More

Went out to celebrate my wifes birthday at the Thirsty Acres in Kirwee, which only opened a couple of weeks ago. Wow!! Considering the terrible experience we had dining in Darfield in the weekend, this was a breath of fresh air. To start with as...we sat down the waitress wished my wife a Happy Birthday, which was a nice touch. The prices were very reasonable but the food quality was excellent. This isn't fancy dining, or even a restaurant pretending to offer fancy fining. This was simply delicious food, made on the spot, served hot and tasty as could be. Their starters were as big a meal as mains we recently tried, the Beef Burger I had was filling and scrumptious. Our daughter and son in law had fish and chips which were perfectly cooked while Mother Bear had a seafood chowder with some of the nicest mussels she has ever tasted. Well done!! We will be back.More
