Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Awful coffee (which is unusual for Allpress) and very limited cabinet food options. They also need to give the place a serious clean 👎

Easy selection of nicely presented food. We chose and outside table. Had to clear it ourselves, but that's how laid back it was. We wanted those chairs so hadn't waited for the staff to help us.

We love this cafe, it's our local. It's low key and the food is fantastic, a great selection - from scones and cabinet food to breakfasts and lunch with a twist. Delicious salads. Fresh produce and great presentation with the added bonus of friendly staff....Definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood or visiting the beach!More

Visiting family in Milford and wanted to try somewhere different. Daughters friend lives nearby so knew of this cafe. The presentation of the meals was outstanding. Coffee was good but daughter didnt enjoy her soy flat white. Good selection plus takeaway options in another room....We had breakfast then wandered to the playground at the beach. RecommendedMore

Firstly, NZ is expensive in terms of the quality of food and coffee. Let's say if I'm in Melbourne, I'll pay $5.20 for a gorgeous coffee...fine, but you won't find it here in cafes in around Castor Bay/Milford. It's average at best. My reason for...a low rating is the quality of service I receive in cafes around this area. I've worked in cafes in Sydney at a young age - and we moved!! Bang bang out with delicious coffee so fast for takeaway customers. This cafe, the staff are half asleep. They are so slow it's infuriating to experience. Just been in this cafe this morning, and the young girl was chatting to her colleague, and stopped midway in completing my order (putting food in a bag) whilst chatting. This is unacceptable. I've asked for takeaway, I'm in a hurry and I expect quick efficient service. I don't care if it's not your career, without my patronage, you're wages would not be paid. It's definitely a trend here in cafes around the East Coast Bays area, whose staff and owners don't have an efficient work ethic - taking their time in serving customers in a friendly efficient manner. This cafe, I've experienced, are way too slow, and need to reflect on better customer service. Cafe culture here in Auckland is popular, a lot of people are opening businesses. They want to make a profit, but neglect excellent service and food. Auckland is growing in population, and is our major city in NZ. Businesses here must reflect a certain standard as other countries, I'm constantly disappointed with substandard food and coffee - time to invest in my own coffee machine perhaps. Coffee and cafe food isn't cheap - they charge their prices....well I expect better service.More

If you came just to swim you would not see this lovely café tucked away out nearby. This café was a nice surprise. The cabinet food and menu, while all the usual suspects were there, included some interesting options. The coffee was good and the...food was certainly up there with some of the better cafes in Auckland. The presentation and quality of the food showed care and attention to detail by the chefs. This paid off for the owners as in addition to the main course, we ended up having one of the yummy custard squares on offer in the cabinet. Other temptations beckoned however the small beach just down the road offered limited distance to walk it off.More

We stumbled across the cafe on a walk and couldn’t resist. There are a few little quirks however overall it works quite well. The building is in an L shape and two very separate rooms. The “long” part of the L is the main cafe...area which has plenty of seating. The benches along the back are super comfy. Shame about the metal chairs - some of which had cushions - some didn’t and if you didn’t they are very cool to sit on. I don’t understand why so many cafes seem to have these chairs - they seem to be the latest trend and they are so damn uncomfortable! If you are slightly larger than average the frame of the back of the chair at the sides are not comfortable on ones dierriere :-( The lower part of the L is a separate entrance to the building where we ordered from as this has the cabinet food which most people loved. The yo-yos were a real hit. I had the passion fruit muffin which the icing was delicious but the mufffin itself was a tad dry. Allpress coffee is used and our party said the coffees were very good. I had a hot chocolate which was okay - just warm enough for me but I don’t like mine hot so I suspect a lot of people would not find this hot enough. And no marshmallows when there was a canister of marshmallows on display when we ordered our food and drinks :-( One of our party had the vietnamese salad for lunch and it looked devine!! There is some parking directly out front however when we arrived this was all taken although we were able to park on the street just up the road so if you do visit be prepared that you may not get a park in front but it would have been less than 200 metre walk and not too steep. We found the service quite good - water glasses were refreshed regularly and plates etc cleared once people had finished.More

This is my local cafe as I live just up the road, it’s good for a coffee , cake and they do a good breakfast offering too. The eggs bene is normally pretty good too. I visit it regularly as it’s handy, but probably wouldn’t...drive across Auckland to visit. It’s a good locals cafe .More
