Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

this has got to be the worst food my partner and i have ever had! i ordered chicken schnitzel with chips and salad - gravy on the side - it was inedible! it came smothered in gravy which i was told it was powdered gravy...( 🤮) so was sent back - i have an allergy to garlic and they couldnt tell me what constituted this so called gravy! the chicken was less than 1/4 inch thick and wasnt a chicken breast that i have ever seen! it was frozen mushed up chicken meat - the oil that everything was cooked in smelled bad and burnt - even the chips were inedible- do not go there for food!More

Stopped in for a beer and a feed, ordered the Blue Cod and fries. For $40 bucks we got the most pathetic order of Blue Cod and chips I have ever seen. It was the smallest piece of fish ever and barely a handful of...chips. Others at our table had the same so it was not just us my order. Pathetic is all I can say, pick up your game.More

A great place to stop for lunch. A really high standard of pub lunch food. Good range of beers and wines. Have the blue cod in beer batter, just the best pub food in a very long while. Truely 10 out of 10.

A huge disappointment. Was expecting some nice cosy historic pub experience but instead got dirty, cold uninviting pub. Not worth the stop

Went couple weeks ago to see a band and was so disappointed with the service. Was a sober driver for the family and asked a bar girl for a jug of hot water and offered to pay and omg the girl literally lost her plot...and started screaming that i am a f…g b…ch that I rolled my eyes at her and the owners were struggling to hold her back. Never ever I experienced anything like that. If you can’t deal with sober people how are they going to deal with those who drink? Well our days are truly done there. Good luck to run the place down.More

This is our local and well it's just not great which is a pity as there is nowhere else local currently to go out at. Firstly there is no atmosphere inside and forget about a smile from the staff. The menu is simple but every...time I have had food here it is overcooked and bland. Plus it's overpriced for what you get. Also, the drink menu is limited and also overpriced for a pub. Outside, needs some love. Sandpit for kids with no sand in it, seating had spiderwebs on most of it. Maybe the owners could spend some time and money on the pub instead of there mansion above. Bring on the new CBD area down the road with some better options.More

Today after feeling pecking we stopped at Luggage Hotel. Greeted by extremely rude barwoman. We ordered a seafood meal,. It comprised 4 small fish fingers , some calamari, 2 small( shrimp, not prawn cutlets) and a handful of chips. Everything was overcooked and dry using...old oil. Advice for fellow travellers, keep on driving!More

We were happy to see this pub was open on our way back from Cromwall as we wanted a drink and perhaps something to eat. Unwelcoming bar woman. No greeting, how are you etc. My friend asked for a lemonade and because she has had...whole top teeth removed recently, said it slowly. Well, an affront by barwoman at this suggestion that they may not have understood her diction. Was told "I understand perfect English" and yhe glass of lemonade was duly slammed onto the bar. Whereupon my friend with mask, pulled it down to prove she had no teeth! With that we left. Such rude and unwelcoming service and upon now reading other reviews, realise to our dismay, we should never have stopped there in the first place. Won't ever be back.More

An unpretentious country pub with a cosy indoor bar and dining room and a large outdoor dining area with outdoor fireplace. Food was typical pub grub and the beer was cold. Friendly welcome and bar service on a busy Saturday lunchtime.

The lady who served us was extremely rude. Did not greet us and argued about food that was available being a stat day. Cut down the menu as assumed we were drinking. Tables not cleared or clean. Atmosphere has depleted. Toilets were rank! Toilet paper...everywhere, most were out of order. Waited 45mins for food that was less than average. Terrible people running this place!More

Oh dear. The saddest service, the poorest menu. Some of us ordered a kiwi burger which lacked beetroot, so bought some from the next door store. The ceasar salad was the chicken schnitzel(off the menu) cut up and added to the same salad that was...in every meal. Expensive, poor service, move onto the cardrona hotel which had staff that are awesome and good affordable food.More

We were greeted by a lady who was not pleasant and we were made to feel like we were an imposition. There was a blackboard menu, a specials menu and a printed menu, all different, which is great, however, 3/4 of all the dishes were...either unavailable or out-of-stock which was very frustrating. The food that we did manage to order, was average at best. The tables were sticky and a dog was wandering in and out of the kitchen. Probably won't be back.More
