Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice place on the lake very scenic on a sunny day sitting outside. The French toast is basically cake full of custard - not complaining was delicious but a little unexpected. Avocado on toast was tasty.

Having read some of the previous negative reviews, I though it might not be too bad and we could be pleasantly surprised, how wrong I was. We stood at the sign that read ‘wait here to be seated’ for around 10 minutes before a staff...member even acknowledged we were stood there. I will always appreciate and understand when people are busy but a simple ‘we’ll be with you in a sec guys!’ Would have been sufficient and would have gone a long way, especially considering 2 members of staff stood chatting to eachother directly in front of us whilst polishing cutlery without even glancing over. Whilst we stood here, a couple arrived and walked past us over to a member of staff and asked to be seated. She was ever so helpful to them and allowed them to choose a table. At this point it was just rude. When she finally acknowledged us, we were seated and ordered food and coffee. Another classic example of the kitchen being let down by the FOH. The food was great (French toast) and this review is by no means aimed at the kitchen as I cannot fault the food. However by the time we recieved our food, it was still another 10 minutes before our coffee arrived. I appreciate it was a busy day but when you are allowing hoards of people to sit down and order food whilst the tables you have already seated haven’t yet recieved their coffee 25 minutes into sitting down, I would maybe stop to consider you can’t cope with any further custom. All in all a poor experience, no apology was given for the lacklustre service. A shame as the food and location are lovely. Maybe a brush up on manners and this place could be a gem.More

In such an iconic location however our experience was let down by the slow greeting as we waited by the“ please wait to be seated “ signage we were ignored by at least three staff before the forth staff finally greeted and sat us at...our booked table Table location was amazing as we enjoyed lakeside location with views and sunshine However quality of coffee and food ordered was cool To lukewarm coffee, cold eggs Benedict and solid gluggy Bircher muesli We did speak to the table server about the food and coffee but no solution was offered or followed up by any senior team member We are locals and are disappointed this great brand has slipped below average with basic staff training and protocols to address feedback From customers Perhaps these lowered standards also explains why this well positioned cafe was not busy on a sunny Queenstown SundayMore

Lovely food, but it was quite a long wait for drinks and food once ordered. Not sure if it was unusually busy or like it all the time.

We had heard good things about this place and it was walking distance from where we were staying so we decided to go for brunch. Waited to be seated for 30 minutes, with 15 minutes spent at the front of the queue. Many tables were...free and just needed clearing but the manager was too busy distributing coffees and asking her team what she could do rather than seating customers or asking team members to clear the tables. We have never seen such poor time management. Not only was this a frustrating waste of our time, it was painful to watch her significantly slow down the establishment’s revenue. The people right behind us in the queue were seated 15 minutes after us, again when there were tables available for them. We then decided we would just order coffees and a cake instead of food, thinking this would be quicker. My biscoff latte came 25 minutes after it was ordered and was lukewarm despite me having ordered it extra hot. I sent it back and received no apology. I had removed its biscuit and when it returned at a normal heat, this biscuit hadn’t even been replaced - stingy and showing a basic lack of customer service. It also wasn’t very nice (turns out the consistency of biscoff spread doesn’t translate well into a hot drink) and I didn’t even finish it. My partner’s hot drink arrived within that time, about 30 minutes after it was ordered. Despite making clear that we weren’t happy, not once was anyone apologetic and once we had to queue (another 10 minutes) to pay, no one offered any kind of gesture. With only 1.5 days in Queenstown and lots to do, I was upset and in disbelief that a coffee stop had taken up a disproportionately large portion of our time there. I would discourage everyone from going here as there are lots of better options that also have a lovely setting. Only go here if you like your coffee stops to involve an hour of queuing and an hour of waiting! Disappointing and frustrating.More

About 5km up the Franklin Arm from town this old railway station - boat shed is a great spot to have something to drink and a bite to eat, food was great, service could have been friendlier, very popular so if you have the chance...to book, do so.More

Excellent breakfast, enjoyed by all the family in our group of 10. So much so that we did repeat visits. The salmon waffles were a big hit.

We too stopped here on way back from ride out to Kelvin Peninsula. Great service, view and food. Juliette kindly took our order of flat white coffee and the Chorizo Scramble. As I told her, the scramble is without doubt one of the best breakfast...items we have ever had! Big portion of eggs on top of fantastic potatoes with lots of sausage topped with feta, onion, and greens. Hungry just writing this. Just fabulous.More

We found this place while researching for an early coffee stop on our bike tour. Best find ever, stunning spot, views to the Remarkables, amazing coffee.....and I admit I am super fussy with my coffee being a barrister. The most outstanding is the selection and...options of food, loved the salmon waffles, absolutely delishes. Came back a few times already and surely will do from now onwards. Highly recommend!!!More

Beautiful place to have breakfast. I had the French toast and my hubby had Mojo Cajun pulled pork burger. Food and coffee was excellent. Glad we booked! Even though it was a Monday morning the place was full. Book ahead and ask for an outside...table so you have the nice views. They provide warm blankets if it’s cold, and tables have umbrellas for sunny days.More

Coffee was great but overpriced. Not enough muffin selection. But great location would have clinched it if not for the rude abrupt woman with short blonde hair behind the counter who was just unnecessarily unhelpful and clearly had better places to be. Yes they are...in demand as a good break from the Frankton biking track but other coffee places further on which may have had better service. I just say other staff were nice but the woman behind the till should move out of the service industry in my view.More
