Food was nice and good value but the wait times were very long. 15-20 mins for 2 coffees and a juice, then about 40-45 mins for 3 meals, maybe our docket got mis placed? Not sure. I wish the wait staff had warned us that it was a long wait. I have worked in hospitality myself and can see when it’s busy but didn’t expect it to be quite that long even during this time of the year in qt area. Next time if there’s a long wait maybe the girls could let customers know? We had Mya and a girl with brunette hair. They seated us quickly and took our orders promptly 😃 just would have been that wee bit better if we had known it’d take that long. The kitchen food is pretty good value for $ . I’d probably come back to this branch and give it another shot. Hopefully more staff on next time ..

My infant daughter and I popped in for a quick bite and were not disappointed. The service was great from all staff we encountered and my baby was well looked after. The coffee was brilliant and my daughter enjoyed her Fluffy. To eat, she had pancakes with cream and jam and I had a "sweetie", basically a hot long roll with a Kransky sausage and scrambled eggs. It's very tasty. If i were to be hyper critical I would like to see the Rocket Fuel/Aoli sauce combo come back. I don't care for the Tomato/Aoli mix... Love the App, easy to gain rewards..

Food Good, Service Good - but whats is really annoying - There is no baby / toddler change table. I had put my toddler on the floor to be able to change and clean her properly. I think as a family orientated business it's a big failure. We are locals and frequently came for breakfast, but now I think twice to come back

Loved going to Joe’s Garage but my recent experience was just appalling. Service was friendly, polite and attentive. The meal was shocking!! I ordered smashed potatoes with haloumi and 2 fried eggs on top. The meal arrived very quickly which I was suprised as getting smashed potatoes nice and crunchy and crispy usually takes a while. The potatoes were soggy and just like over-boiled potatoes. There was a lonely crispy skin in the bowl but all of the potatoes were yuk, soggy and mushy!! Even with a good slathering of hp sauce, I left most of the potatoes in the bowl and left the cafe. How hard is it to fry up some potatoes till they are crispy and golden!!!! Very, very disappointing.

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but it was t worth it. We got the venison burgers and kids chips. The chips were very small for $9 and the burger was below acetate. The bun was too overcooked and the bacon went to hell and back. Overpriced for $25 when you can get a better one for $20 It’s a shame as the atmosphere is great and the service was fantastic

Terrible customer service! I eat at Joes Garage franchises all around NZ, as a coeliac it’s my go to! Arrived in Queenstown, made our order of over $100, I had requested my burger be GF. After ordering the waitress asked if it was preference or coeliac when I said coeliac she said they can’t serve me then and bye. What? I’ve eaten safely at Joes Garage for YEARS! . Please don’t waste your time advertising your menu as gluten free if you’re going to deny someone service for just that. Also, rudely- the store was also empty and it still took a long time for the wait staff to even acknowledge us in the first place. It should be my choice if I eat there or not. We all went next door to The Crown who served me a delicious gluten free burger!

Hi Kelsi, thank you for your feedback and taking the time to review your visit. we appreciate the feedback and sincerely apologies for your experience and acknowledge this was not up to our usual joe's standard. we do have a few options on the menu we can guarantee are appropriate for coeliacs, not just gluten free, which is different when we take the precautions in making the food and where it is prepared. I apologise for the lack of communication and acknowledgement from staff, as it was handled according to protocol. i hope we can make it up to you and hope you will email me directly on fivemilemanager@joes.co.nz look forward to hearing from you. best regards, The Joe's team

We have visited various Joe’s garages and normally found the food to be generous but our visit to this franchise has put me off them. I ordered sweet Pikelets. The pikelets themselves were ok but they were served with such a small amount of maple syrup, perhaps a 1/4 of a banana if I am being generous and 2 tiny bits of bacon. My wife’s dish was similarly tiny and all this on a grubby table and seat. They weren’t very busy when we were there either so no excuses.

Looked to order something less substantial for lunch and was recommended the Cheese Roll by the waitress. We grew up with this local speciality but hadn't been in Otago/Southland for some time so we had expectations. What arrived was a huge sized travesty of gluggy thick bread with some kind of cheese sauce filling. The original is about ratios of bread and filling, this version had no idea at all, disgusting. Of course one of the other problems with a creation that big is that it is hard to reheat so was served cold in the middle. Left uneaten.

Hi Steve, Thank you for your feedback, yes our cheese roll is a little different to the original classic due to its size. Our cheese rolls should be served piping hot, fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. I apologize this has not occurred in this case. I'll be following up with our kitchen team to make sure this doesn't occur again. Kind Regards Ryan

Huge disappointment. To start with I ordered a water which didn’t even come the entire duration of our stay despite me asking again once the food came out. We shared the squid which wasn’t bad and a good amount for the price but it was just downhill from there. I had the beef salad and it was just very boring... the $14 salads at tank across the road are better than this $23 salad. Literally some rubbery tasting beef, probably about 3 cherry tomatoes and a handful of lettuce ... I think there were about 4 small slices of cucumber? My husband ordered steak and chips, he asked for medium rare and it came out chewy and medium well. The inside of the steak was grey. Very disappointed. To top the below average meals- the service was almost worse which was the icing on the cake. Not once did anyone check up on us to see how things were. When we left to pay the cashier said a total of two words only “that’s $83” Didn’t ask how it was, no smile. I don’t even think he made eye contact. Just very robotic. We will def not be returning or recommending anyone here.. WAY better places to go.

If you prefer a more open eating environment, great views, space and great food, opt for the Frankton one over the Queenstown one. We had a great meal: our kids loved the Caesar salad and massive pizza and husband loved the schnitzel. Highly recommend

Not good, we couldn't find anywhere in Queenstown to eat so went to Frankton noticed the beer garden next door was full and pumping but Joe's wasn't. So in we went and ordered a couple of drinks the schnitzel and salt and pepper squid. The food arrived within 15 minutes which was as good as it got unfortunately. The fries were an assortment of burnt, overcooked, and decent store bought maccas type while the gravy was runny and incipid and there wasn't salt, pepper or taste in the squid. Lots of good gluten free options and the service was good, I'm guessing that it used to be a good place at some point. I liked the decor, just needed to take more time with the food and match it with the service. No need to rush when there's 10 customers and 7 staff.

We thought as we were shopping out in Five Mile we would go and try out the new Joe's Garage since we hadn't been. Well we were bitterly disappointed, the place has nice atmosphere, good staff and was bustling as it was lunch time. It took 20 minutes to get our two coffees, which were luke warm and hadn't managed to wave down a waiter to get some fresh ones, so we drank those. We had hoped the food would be nice and hot, well one meal was cold as it had been sitting clearly waiting for them to finish our other meal and serve together. Really not good enough and your chefs should take pride in what they do not just whatever works for them. The one in downtown Queenstown will be where we will continue to support and certainly recommend. Not good enough especially during these difficult times and we are trying to support our local businesses!!

Much anticipation but sadly not met; we waited 50 minutes after our order, no body checked in on us or advised of or why the delay, food arrived and was warm at best, fried eggs delivered cold, good coffee but only lukewarm. Had to ask for napkins. Toasted ciabatta wasn’t toasted so was soggy under creamy mushrooms. Wrong orders delivered. Appeared that there wasn’t enough wait staff on the floor hence the shambles?

Terrible service. Well, no service. Place was almost empty. 4 staff chatting behind the counter. No greeting. No menus. We had to find them ourselves. No one said to order at the bar. Staff just stared from behind the counter. Vege salad was mainly potatoes and roasted onions.

We holidayed in Queenstown and loved Joe's Garage. As a coeliac the menu had lots of choices including fries which put a smile on our faces. Nicky gave us top notch service and the other staff were helpful too. Thanks to Joe's Garage for great holiday food.
