Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We used to frequent the Jester House often and enjoyed great hospitality and service. No problem that they only open on a Friday - but that relaxed and friendly welcome has gone completely. The food was good (although the coffee less so), but the slow,...cool, unsmiling service was a big letdown. It is a lovely place and deserves staff who are a bit more enthusiastic and convivial. It would be especially nice to be greeted rather than (it seemed) almost deliberately ignored.More

We hadn't been to Jesters at night for a while, so took the opportunity to take our foody friends from Hamilton. We knew what to expect, but they were completely gobsmacked! The tapas platter entre was fantastic, as was the fish stew, and then the...dessert....all 5 stars! They are only open now on a Friday, so don't miss your chance to be impressed!More

Not really sure what the point of this place is? It’s only open on a Friday and then it has nothing on the menu. The place is quite unique and we certainly appreciated the huge bag of plums for $3, but that’s just as well...as there was only 4 tapas plates and tough luck if you have any dietary requirements as you get all 4!More

We used to love stopping off here, as it's a unique cafe. The last two times we have tried, it has been closed, so we dont chose it as a planned stop anymore. There are plenty of other business's in the area who would welcome...our business, just down the road in Tasman or in Mapua.More

Jester House Cafe is now only open on Friday with a limited menu, but what they do serve is a wonderful delight for the taste buds. Lovely friendly staff, great service and quirky setting all add to a nice lunch experience.

I'm guessing COVID might have played havoc with the cabinet food and when we arrived for late lunch there were only a couple of savoury options left, but gosh, the beef and vegetable soup was sold. It's a quirky, relaxing spot, family friendly and good...value.More

They are now open on Fridays only and I booked a table for lunch looking forward to a good menu and tasty food as had previously several times. Sadly the choice was limited, food mediocre and at least one item mentioned on blackboard but not...received on plate. Uncooked pastry on base of a quiche these days is unacceptable and I won't be back.More

Loved this cafe, lots of fun sculptures and interesting things to see. The food is delicious and we enjoyed the outdoor tables. Came by bike and there was lots of parking off road. Children would enjoy all the novelties there.

Amazing place. Wish we had stayed longer. Great for kids and the food looked delicious! There was a sign up saying they would only be open briefly on a Friday I think. They will be missed I’m sure..

Such a fun location with such bad service. They prefer to serve you at your table, so after waiting a while for someone to visit our table we had to go and find menus for ourselves, Still no service so then went and got water....Still no service so went and ordered at the Counter. I used to like this place.More

Very busy lunch times the Manager appeared under pressure and could'nt be bothered to seat us. A table which was reserved for 1pm was still empty at 1'30 but she would not allow us to seat. I have been a customer for many years but...will not go back for sometime now. Food took 45mins to arrive and then in batches. When i complained I was told there had been a problem in the kitchen. Waiting staff were very nice but the Manager could not cope.More
