Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sometimes in our lives we are exceptionally lucky. Each evening, as we sat down to dinner with our fellow gourmands, we knew we were blessed. Silence came over us as we savoured the flavours, the elegance, the joy of each course. Between courses there were...convivial discussions at the single table and the flower arrangement was moved to the end. Two well-travelled couples compared Armadillo with unique French restaurants in France and Australia where a fabulous meal was matched with a camaraderie which brought out the best within us. Andrea and Bernie have created a gem in the north of Grenada, rightly recognised as one of the treasures of the CaribbeanMore

Looks can be deceiving! The website pics look great, but dinner was sub par. This “restaurant” was recommended and has great online reviews. This is not a restaurant, it’s someone’s house. You need to preorder your entire meal before arriving. That should have been a...red flag to us. Dinner is on their outside patio table, in front of the house, opposite the driveway. I was so disappointed. The chicken dish was very basic and the lobster was overcooked. The chocolate cake was the size of a small cupcake. Picture a dry, nutty, short muffin. The ice cream was crystallized. I did not finish either. Again, so disappointing. Ugh ☹️ The owners were not friendly. Very unprofessional. If you take a taxi, make sure you have a way home as the host doesn’t know anyone to call.More

We stayed on the North Side of Grenada for a few nights, and made an advance reservation (a must!) to enjoy dinner one night at Armadillo. My only regret is that we did not dine here sooner, as we probably would have returned every night...because it was such a magical, wonderful experience! Andrea and Bernie were warm, lovely hosts welcoming a very small group into their home for a delicious, intimate dinner. The outside dinner area was magical with its lighting, beautiful flowers and views. Bernie’s dishes and Andrea’s desserts were unique and it was clear so much love into each and every plate. They offered a small but lovely list of wine and spirits to enjoy with dinner, and our communal table of six guests created a lovely experience.More

The entire 3 courses were exquisite!!! Wow, my husband and I were blown away by our dinner with Bernie Huss and Andea Nyack. The delightful flavour combinations, meticulous presentation, and intimate and quaint outdoor dining area are over the top. They offer a true foodie...experience. All ingredients are locally sourced. The key lime pie is a flavour explosion, the best! Book ahead as this is a must do when in Grenada!More

The most delicious carefully prepared 3 course lunch. The tuna in particular was fantastic. Seasoned and garnished with fresh produce. We had chosen in advance from the menu so all was cooked to order and charmingly served.

We were lucky enough to stay with Andrea and Bernie in the one room over the restaurant as well as eat there in the evening. We arrived later in the evening straight from the plane, and Bernie cooked later to accommodate us. This was our...first taste of their hospitality and wonderful food - oh wow. We then ate here every night, there was no need to go anywhere else. The food was sublime and the best that we had on the island. Each dish was individually prepared and was a wonderful combination of flavours, and looked perfect. Andrea and Bernie use locally caught fish, and then add local or home grown vegetables and spices to make unique dishes. Our favourites were the red snapper ceviche with coconut milk, mango and almonds, and skate with Bernie's special creamed sauerkraut. Andrea's puddings were out of this world, the lime pie was just yummy and my husband had the passion fruit iced creme brulee every night - this from a man who doesn't 'do pudding'.... Sometimes it was just the two of us, sometimes we joined other guests who came for dinner, but it was a brilliant experience that rather spoiled us for the second half of our stay in Grenada. We also had breakfast with Bernie's home made bread, eggs from their hens and Andrea's home made jams which are just delicious, the marmalade was just as my mum used to make it. Bernie and Andrea and Rosie were great hosts too, they gave us great advice on where to go and what to do, and were so friendly. Thanks for a lovely stay, it will be one we remember for a long time with a lot of affectionMore

In staying at a very nearby cottage, Blue Sky South, we were excited to know this place would be great for dining. We knew that reservations were necessary and now we know why! We decided to drive up the lane to the restaurant to see...if we could make a reservation or two for the 9 days we were staying. Andrea greeted us at our car and very fortunately she was able to find an opening for lunch for a few days later. Excited by the menu, reviews, and photos on the webpage we were quick to find that it was even five times better than anticipated. This is a 5 STAR dining experience!! They are basically sharing their beautiful open-air island home with a table for 6 outside and tables for 6 and 4 on the inside in sort of a bed and breakfast dining arrangement. There is only one guestroom so dining patrons come from everywhere. The food and overall experience are very unique. It would take too long to describe all the food we had, so I would just say that everything that was brought to our table was outstanding. The hospitality is unmatched, and we left feeling like it was certainly one of the best meals we have had in a very long time. Bravo to Andrea and Bernie!! If you are visiting the north end of Grenada, DO NOT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY. Make a reservation or two well in advance. You will not regret it.More

Chef Berni made us the most amazing meal. The combination of flavours, colours and textures were incredible. You can see that it is with a love of creating that the owners, Andrea and Berni prepare such amazing dishes. Everything we ordered was not just delicious...but an experience of flavours. The setting is so peaceful and you can see the islands in the distance. We were made to feel so welcome by Rosie and Berni. Chef Berni showed us his creative ways of pickling and curing local produce and kindly took us around some of their land and showed us what they grow themselves. Book ahead as they only take a certain number of persons at a time. They ask you to choose off their menu in advance of your arrival. Once you are close, there are signs that show the way to Armadillo so it's easy to find. We will definitely be back.More

We had a perfect meal here. The setting is beautiful- the table is outside in their beautiful garden. Each course was expertly cooked and presented imaginatively by Bernie, the chef. He used local ingredients, some of which were grown in the garden. It was the...best meal we had tried in Grenada. Be sure to book the day beforehand and pre-order your meal. Everything was delicious- you will not be disappointed. Pictures include the goat cheese starter, the lime pie dessert and the pineapple crumble dessert. We had an absolutely lovely meal and afternoon. From (more than just) accommodating a vegan dietary preference to the friendly service, good conversation, fresh fruit, and lovely setting, we would highly recommend a visit! Our meal, from start to finish, was superb. Again, the accommodation...made for vegan was phenomenal. First a delicious wasabi beet palate cleanser, then a purple sweet potato soup, followed by a delicious and protein packed savory entree, accompanied by tasty vegetables. The dessert was fabulous, the communication about ingredients was great, the wine was lovely. Loved that the majority of the ingredients used were grown right there on the grounds. My husband said his meal was just about the best he’s had, also locally grown/caught. The private setting was lovely. Cannot recommend enough!More

Our friends highly recommended this restaurant after going earlier in the year. I cannot express how delicious the food was in addition to how welcoming and beautiful the atmosphere and setting was. Truly one of the best meals of our lives. We ate on a...stunning covered patio with ocean views and nestled within a garden of indigenous flowers. The chef makes absolutely everything in house and you can tell. Armadillo is a gourmet experience in a magical setting, with generous portions very affordably priced. I've been to Armadillo multiple times for lunch and dinner, and over different periods of time. And the number one thing I would call out is consistency. Armadillo is always...consistent with the flavors, quality, food presentation, and service, of course. Food: Bernie and Andrea are true artists in the kitchen: they create their menu with a lot of delicacy and creativity, and are very attentive and thoughtful in how they use ingredients -- all locally sourced and the freshest they can be (most vegetables and fruits are from their own home garden). They are meticulous in the way they create flavor and texture combinations between vegetables / meats / herbs / spices (inspired from cuisines all over the world) that will blow your mind, yes they will blow your mind (random e.g.: wasabi and beets amuse bouche, insane!!), which results in a very harmonious mix that you will want to come back for more (and it is really difficult to choose a favorite as every dish has a unique touch - some highlights though are the seared tuna with sweet potato mash that is just top notch everytime, lobster on thai curry fried rice or risotto also always perfect, and a true star: a cauliflower & sweet potato soup with a lobster skewer: out of this world). Desserts made by Andrea are a must and they are the most divine you'll ever have, spoiler: the lime pie with homemade passion fruit jam is just another level. Ambiance: When at Armadillo, you enjoy your meal in a very cozy and intimate setting with a charming vineyard feel overlooking the beautiful Caribbean sea. Most often there will be one other party having lunch/dinner too so you'll exchange beautiful conversations over your meal. Service: Bernie and Andrea are very friendly and make you feel relaxed like you're enjoying this beautiful experience at home. They are attentive and responsive to make sure you're having a delightful time. Bernie will always come out to ask / make sure you're happy with your meal. Andrea is always there with a smile on her face to ensure you're having a good time. Armadillo is also a guesthouse where you can stay overnight, enjoy the pool there, and most importantly enjoy a special breakfast. As Armadillo is a small cozy restaurant, I recommend you book in advance and you will be asked to share your menu choices 2 days in advance: your meal is truly made to order / to your liking and fresh, they also don't accept credit cards so make sure you have cash. Summary, Armadillo being featured in international magazines is well worth the hype and truly lives (and exceeds) all expectations, yes there are many nice restaurants in Grenada but nothing is comparable to Armadillo!More
