We discovered this restaurant on a rainy day when most people stayed at home and we had the kind hosts and warm indoors restaurant almost to ourselves. We enjoyed the home-made first courses, the tasty typical meat dishes and the home-made cakes so much that...we decided to return on the following day. With the sunshine, the terrace overlooking the valley was quite crowded but the quality of the well-seasoned typical dishes of the Italian mountains was just as high. In spite of the off-road drive to reach it, we will definitely return to Refugio San Lucio, to enjoy the abundant and not expensive food, the view and the kindness of the hosts, who were very welcoming both to our family and our dog.More
This amazing restaurant may be a drive up a dusty road, but once you've arrived its worth every minute. The view is absolutely spectacular and the food can only be called the same. The restaurant is family owned and run and were very friendly and...sweet. Being summer it was quite busy but we were talking and drinking in the sunshine, our food was delicious and coffee perfect. After our meal we walked around the back of the restaurant and church and lay in the sun on the green rolling field directly behind. If your considering going to San Lucio for a meal, make a day of it!!!! I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back.More
Astounding views and warm interior. It was nice to sip at a prosecco infront of the fire sitting in wooden sculptured arm chairs. Such warmth is not only radiated in the interior but also from the hosts. Lovely food also typical of the region.
We could have nice food surrounding fantastic scenery. You have to take care of road to here; dirt and narrow.
I have been here a few times and we love the place, so it seemed the perfect place to celebrate our marriage, and we had a lunch reception here. The hostess was as ever, friendly and attentive and the food was exquisite. We had a...5 course lunch, with coffee and wine for €30 per head. You can't get better value than that! Two different people sat next to me said that two different dishes were the best they had had in their lives, which I think is a great testiment to just how fabulous the cooking is here! The portions are enormous (five courses was predictably too much of a challenge when it came to actually eating it). The views from the terrace are lovely, and they don't hurry you to leave. The meadow behind the little church next to the rifugio was full of wildflowers. We had such a wonderful day with our family and friends. I can't wait to go again!More
I went here as part of a party of 13 for a birthday lunch. It is one of the rare rifugios which is accessible by car, there is a long winding unsurfaced road up the mountain, or you can walk up a footpath. There were...wild flowers all the way up the drive, and as long as you take it slowly, a normal car will make the journey. Once at the top the restaurant awaited. It was a shame the weather was inclement as the views would ordinarily be spectacular, and you can take some nice walks from the restaurant. It would be nice in summer as there is a large terrace outside with many tables to enjoy your food outside, overlooking the mountains and the town of Clusone below. The place inside was warm and welcoming, the hostess was very friendly. There was a log fire, and the internal decorations of the place were wonderful with a lot of hand carved woodcrafts and paintings. They were well equipped for dealing with a large group, and there was another group in besides us. There was a choice of first dishes - a stuffed pasta with meat, and another kind of pasta dish with some kind of sauce and speck. I am a vegetarian, and there wasn't a first dish menu choice that didn't have meat, so she offered me a choice of pasta cooked two different ways and was very accommodating. I had home made pasta with tomatoes and cheese. Absolutely delicious! The second course was polenta with deer. I am told they have other dishes available on other days. I had polenta with mushrooms and cheese, and again it was absolutely delicious. For dessert there was a choice of about 5 different cakes and tarts, and no complaints there either!! There is a bar and they serve wine by the jug, and there was bread and water on the table. You can also have coffee. We had a wonderful relaxed lunch, spent a fair amount of time on the terrace outside afterwards, enjoying the view, and we were not hurried at all. It worked out at E22 per person for the two dishes (desserts and coffee were paid for by one of our group). I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. I look forward to returning during better weather so that as well as another fantastic meal, I can enjoy the view and surrounding mountains as well.More
