We arrived in Athol on bicycles and although they had a function on that evening they were able to provide us with take away dinners. These were THE BEST take away meals we have ever had!! Thank you so much for being so flexible.

Stopped here with friends on our way from Queenstown to Te Anau. Lots of things of interest to look at, interesting décor, great coffee, great service, friendly staff. When we pass this way again will call in for a break.

Stopped here for lunch. Half way between Te Anau and Queenstown. We both enjoyed our lunch. I enjoyed a nice lamb roast. Was a nice home cooked meal. My friend did not enjoy her coffee though. We were in the middle of nowhere... so you can't really expect Melbourne quality.

What a great spot to eat. Surprised at the quality from a cafe in such a small town. I had the cauliflower and blue cheese soup, probably the best soup I've had. I highly recommend it with friendly staff and a homely feel.

Very happy to recommend this local gem which we visited many times while fishing and staying in the area. The food is great, the coffee excellent and the place has a really nice feel to it. There's also a small bar where you can meet the locals, sink a Speight's or three and swap tall stories with other fishermen. The... More

We stopped by at Brown Trout Cafe during our way to Queenstown from Te Anau for a quick meal. Food was very good and much better than our expect. It is a very good restaurant in a small town.

We stopped off here on the way to Invercargill for a bite to eat and were blown away by the awesome homemade pies! So much so, we just had to stop for another one on the way back to Queenstown! Definitely worth a visit. The staff were so friendly both times and had great chat.

Great for a stop between Qtown and Te Anau. Even have toys for little guests. Try one of the pies - delicious!

Excellent coffee, ambiance and food. Friendly personal and owners. A great spot to break a long pretty remote road.
