Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Situated beside Key Lime Resort at mile marker 68.
Inside and outside tables, great music and atmosphere. Staying in the Key Lime resort we ate there on two consecutive nights.
Beers inexpensive and refreshing to get a good glass
Of Californian wine for $6 a glass.
Rib eye and Coconut crusted Mahi Mahi both good dishes as was the grilled Mahi Mahi.
Worth stopping

We stayed at Lime Tree which was connected to the FL Boy. For dinner we did take out due to the Covid situation. Shrimp and fish was flavorful and portions generous. Continental breakfast from there was standard fare of cereal, OJ, oatmeal, and egg scrambler. Staff very friendly every morning.

The chef apparently doesn’t know what salt or any other basic seasoning is. Because of lack of taste and slow service this gets a 2. The onion rings were so greasy and the floboy was good: The bartender, Lola, is what gave it a higher rating than it deserved. Both times we ate here, the food was only mediocre.

We spent 4 days at the hotel by this place. They seem very understaffed. There were a few good staff and a few bad. The first day we waited over 30 minutes for someone to get us drinks, and they were not overly busy at that time. The breakfast pick up included long lines and things were not all there for pick up. Needless to say, we ended up going out for breakfast two of four days. We tried to order to-go as we heard the food was delicious but were told they have to serve people who are seated first and they have a line of people waiting. We ended up going to Robbies.
We went to have a drink there our last night, it was 45 minutes till close and they acted as if us coming for one drink was a burden for them. We were gone before closing time.

We arrived Christmas Eve and decided to try this restaurant as it was close to us and had an open sign at side of road. There were several people sitting outside at bar so we thoughts they were open. After walking up and checking inside to see no one, someone seated at bar finally said we’re closed... we’re all employees. The next day my husband went over and was treated rudely. Then found out another family member went in and asked if they had ginger ale and was rudely told to look at the menu. That was a simple question that was simply a yes or no. These were all separate incidents at different times. Needless to say, I can not recommend based in their extremely poor customer service. We definitely would have eaten there if workers had not been so rude.

Went for dinner near the end of our week in the Keys. Had the crab cake salad and a key lime mojito. Husband had the peel and eat shrimp. The crab was REAL, fresh and the crab cake was not full of fillers. It was full of flavor. The dressing was the perfect touch. The key lime mojito was the best I’ve ever had. So refreshing! The shrimp were large and really good too.

Nice large covered patio area. Pleasant, friendly wait staff. My salad was very fresh and the grouper was wonderfully prepared and not over breaded. Loved the meal, great vacation memory.

If staying at Lime Tree next door, the continental breakfast offered was ok. Basic items from cold cereals, fruit, hardboiled eggs, bagels, coffee. You can order off the menu too for additional cost.
Because it was next to Lime Tree Resort, it was very convenient when we came back from a full day in Key West tired and did not feel like driving anywhere. We had a salad and fish tacos. The salad was huge and very tasty! Took half back for the next day. Fish Tacos were also good. Had a margarita, but it was served in plastic cup :-(
If there is one comment, it seemed as if our waiter was on his first day. He was very nice, but seemed not quite sure of himself. It took a very long time before someone came to our table after we sat down.

Had six people in our group with two children. Bar has nothing but heavy smoking in the eating area. No one to assign seating. Definitely in the wrong location should be in Key West. The Lobster macaroni dish was great. The chicken and fish platter had to be credited do to be hard eat

This bar/restaurant is located in front of the Lime Tree Bay Resort where we stayed for a few days. Layton is located in between Marathon and Islamorada so it's nice to have somewhere to eat without having to leave the resort. Their Ahi Tuna nachos are fantastic as well as their conch fritters. I had the crab cake salad for lunch which was very tasty. We had to eat outside because the dining room was still closed due to covid but it was nice, plenty of fans. The servers were great as well.

Florida Boy is mostly a bar with a decent size menu. The bar offers entertainment as well on the weekends and is in front of a beach resort hotel. The food is better than the average “bar food”, from Lemon chicken to gourmet burgers it is a good option for dinner. After dinner you can walk past the parking lot for a beautiful view of the water.

My friend and I have been here a couple times previously and were pleased with the food those times. But on this past Sunday, we sat at the bar indoors and waited 45 minutes for Dee the waitress to even acknowledge that we were there. Yes, she could glance over and see us! She finally took our order and we waited another 45 minutes for a simple order that we shared. She spilled some of the mango sauce on my leg as she set the plate down on the bar. No big deal, but she could have been more apologetic as I was very nice as I wiped my leg and helped clean the floor. I did tip her 20% on the bill anyway, but service was not acceptable. The other item that I saw on the bill was a 4% FL Liquor Surcharge added if you use a CC. I have never encountered that added charge on a restaurant bill. Shame! All in all, a very disappointing time at a place we have always recommended to people. Nobody there really seemed to care about food or service on that day! No excuse if understaffed. Hire more help and take care of your customers!

Not sure what happened in a year....Love to stay at the Limetree resort and Florida Boy is on property, we wander over for a cold drink and some light dinner. Florida Boy was always spot on, great food, great prices, sweet staff, laid back and just wonderfully chill.
Honesty time: I run a very busy bar in Brevard county so I admit to being more critical than the average patron, that being said, Friday evening 2 male bartenders were running around so terribly disorganized and overwhelmed it looked like it was their first night ever behind a bar. Rule one, if you are buried or in the weeds you smile, tell everyone you will get to them, play with your crowd, they will understand, relax and wait for you.
These two gave off the freak out vibe that makes customers return the feeling in kind. Neither made eye contact, neither offered "Ill be right with you or hang in there" NADA. They were in the weeds so bad they were bumping into each other. Two very sweet older waitresses were working the floor and were completely slammed but handled it wonderfully.
As I sat back and watched, I was stunned at how poorly run this place had become. This place was understaffed and overwhelmed. I walked up to the bar to grab a drink, waited patiently for 11 minutes and did not get eye contact so I sat back with my group. Yes, my friends timed me.
These things happen in hospitality, we get it. Sometimes you just have an "off night" all was forgiven.
We decided to try again Sunday night to see if we could get that old magic back from last year.
NOPE!
Our bartender was worried more about alerting the masses that he is the new owner than providing good service. Very cocky, arrogant and not very engaging. he is the kind of guy that runs in circles doing absolutely nothing to show you how "busy" he is, when in reality he is doing nothing. He was also one of the bartenders from Friday night.
He was busy flirting with a lovely blonde, playing referee with people who brought their pets (its the keys, dogs can stay) that were barking at each other bugging those on the floor that were eating.
Did I mention he was the owner? oh, I did. Kinda like this guy...over and over.
A word of advice from a very seasoned hotel/bar/restaurant manager: Customers come first, staff your place appropriately, and lastly, if you are the owner, act like one! humility and kindness go a long way! engage all of your customers (not just the 3 regulars that got all your attention). p.s. don't hire your friends, which I would guess you do.
We will be back next year and hope you get it together if you are still the owner. Maybe this is not your calling and someone that knows what they are doing will buy it from you.

We had planned on going elsewhere for dinner but SO glad we changed our minds!! This little hidden gem has delicious food, great service and a true Florida Keys atmosphere!! We had the crab cakes as an appetizer, then my husband and I shared a ribeye and the lobster mac & cheese. For dessert we had the caramel cheesecake!! Everything was SO GOOD!! Very convenient for guests of Lime Tree Bay Resort. Definitely on our list of places to re-visit on our next trip to the Keys!!
