"Kanioria" is a family restaurant located at the seafront.Nothing can be compared with dining at such a peaceful and beautiful place. Olive oil and fresh ingredients are used for our meals. Food is prepared with knowledge and love.. A wine list is also available for a fine dinner. Dessert menu is here too.

This is our default dinner place in Lygia. Tried several similar establishments in the neighborhood and none come close. It is a combination of the food quality (just right, fresh, simple but with unexpected twists of taste and presentation), location( right on the water with neighbourhood cats strolling by), service (straightforward and friendly) and pricing (appropriate and expected) that make this place so perfect.
Choose anything on the menu and you will be pleasantly surprised. Our favorites include the Kaniornia salad, black squid risotto, fresh grilled grouper and practically everything else. The local wine is reasonably priced and pairs perfectly with the menu. Treat yourself to a bottle of the home made liquor after a small serving of it is presented as a digestif at the end of the meal.

We have been returning to this taverna every time we visit the island, especially whenever we don't feel like risking eating a bad meal. They have never disappointed us!
Even though they call themselves a taverna, you should consider that they are not like all the other tavernas. More so are they a restaurant with traditional greek/lefkadian cuisine,often served with a twist. So if you what you want is a load of cheap food thown on a plate, don't bother going to Kanioria. The food they present is meticulous and the short menu is only the first indication to that. Ask for the fresh catch/dish, they are always honest to tell you. The owners are actually really kind.
Last time we were there, were we a party of 30(!) and every single one of us loved the food! That tells a lot and I was glad that my favourite place in Lefkada could satisfy all different palettes.

We visited Lefkada for a 2nd year in a row and one of the main reasons for this decision was this particular tavern.
You can taste Lefkadian history and tradition in every one of its dishes carefully prepared and served on you table from the most friendly staff on the island.
I cannot recommend enough this place as I prepare myself to come back next year, and the year after and the year after that.

The food is more expensive compared to other local restaurants while the food was bland. Not sure why this restaurant has been getting good reviews at all. After telling our Greek friends about our experience (as we went there by mistake), they couldn't stop laughing about it. Apparently, local Greeks know about this place. On top of that, the service wasn't particularly great either. It seemed the waiters were having a row with the chef or owner on that day.

We tried to eat here twice in our two week stay - both times we were turned away when there were many empty tables because we ‘hadn’t booked’ even though we tried to book in advance and were told they didn’t book ahead for tables for two. We saw other people (tables for 4) immediately seated without a booking. Won’t be bothering again! Obviously they don’t need our custom nor our recommendations.

Our first meal here was good with good service so we booked a table for later in the week. When we got there no table was available and told to wait in the garden area, no offer to order a drink or look at the menu whilst waiting. After 15 minutes we tried to attract a waiter's attention to order a drink and look at a menu whilst we waited, he saw us but deliberately chose to ignore us - such a poor attitude that we were contemplating just leaving but as our previous meal was so good we waited a further 10 minutes . Finally we got a table and had the sofigado which was delicious, when the bill came the head waiter said our wine was complimentary as we had to wait so long We didn't go back as the attitude of the rude waiter was so off putting

One of our best meals ever from the get-go. We reserved a place at the very last minute and were told we would have to sit on the balcony, one row away from the sea side tables. When we got there we were given a table next to the sea on the undertaking that we would finish our meal by 10.30 PM. And the food that followed was just too good. The service was also superb - just two servers handling a full restaurant with panache.
The restaurant ticks all the boxes.
A must-visit.

We are a family of 4 and ate here twice on our holiday. Both times the food was excellent and the service good. The restaurant was very busy so everything took a little while - but it was worth waiting for. The menu has less choice than nearby restaurants and is a bit pricier, but we didn't object as the standard was high. The herb garden out the back is lovely, and we liked the old photos, the quirky signs, and the paintings.

We’d seen the positive reviews and decided to anchor off Lygia to try Ta Kanioria for ourselves. We booked by phone - worthwhile as we saw lots of walk-up groups unable to get a table. From our arrival to leaving, the meal was faultless. The bread is baked on site and set the tone for quality food. Starters of a beetroot salad (possibly the star dish?) and zucchini balls served with beetroot yoghurt followed by a sublime tuna steak and grilled prawns with fava were all simply delicious. Lubricated with half a litre of the house red, which was one of the best house wines we’ve had in Greece, this was a memorable meal and goes to the top of our ‘Go-To’ Ionian restaurants list.

... sadly today was the last day Ta Kanioria is open this year!
The food was really good and the service very professional. The menu is reasonably short but covers some really nice dishes with plenty of variety. Nice touches too like the bruschetta appetiser, the home made bread and the free shot of home made liquer really complemented the meal. No doubt they will all be back next year!

The restaurant is located in very quiet place, right at the side of the water. This is a very big plus, being away from the traffic and the noise. The food is good, but the menu is not as diverse as I would have liked. It's not a fish taverna, so you get basic fish & seafood, but on the other hand it's not a traditional greek taverna either, as they have more fusion style dishes (as an example, even the greek salad was reinterpreted in their own version, which was not bad.. but I prefer the original). The atmosphere and vibe of the place are very nice.

Most of the menu is combined with fish, so for those who don't eat fish or seafood, there aren't many options (one salad + zucchini balls and two meat dishes that we found too heavy and expensive).
The service is exceptionally inefficient - We had tables near us that arrived and waited a lot until they even approached them when the waiters don't know how to prioritize between what is more important and what is less.
The salad and the zucchini balls and the bread were really tasty (they charge 3 euros for the bread they put on the table at the beginning) and you also get bruschetta with tomatoes at the beginning.
There was no draft beer - just bottles that came with hot cups
Lots of cats walking around the tables, although they are not annoying, but it is a bit unpleasant
We sat in the inner part (because the row of tables on the water was full, except for one table that we were told was reserved), there is a beautiful inner courtyard but they just opened a large table next to us for family members with many children and there was a lot of noise
One salad, one portion of zucchini balls and two beers cost 38 euros before tip

After several years of visiting lygia we always look forward to our trip to this place which we ate 5 times during our stay this year. Fantastic menu and whatever you go for it won’t disappoint. Great staff amazing food incredible setting can’t recommend it enough.

What else to say? It’s a wonderful place where to have dinner. You are at 1 m from the water, and everything it’s gorgeous. They offer to you original Greek cuisine, pairing fish with herbs of the garden like mints, rosemary and oregano. Calamari taste like the smokes of the wood used to Cooke them. Top top top , and with a wonderful lady one top more

One of those beautiful, special places. The food was amazing, the service impeccable. The prices are slightly higher than the average but it makes sense given the quality and presentation. It's mainly Greek food with a modern twist. They also have some cute cats which are properly fed and looked after, which is nice to see, given the poor stray cats being around the island. Absolutely recommended.
