Amazing Paella

Food was very good here and again, reasonably priced but not a huge choice. Staff were not very attentive or friendly.

What a shame, we didn't check the bill, got over charged by €30. Group if 6 had plenty if drinks and some afternoon snacks, food was lovely, drinks reasonably priced. Staff very friendly met the owner whom was also friendly. Couple of the party also met the chef in the kitchen after talking to the waiters. Will return when next in area, but will check the bill. think it was just an error

Four of us - On arrival at this place the senior waiter guy was quite slow to get us the main menus. Rather he took time to stress how nice his expensive fish special was and also how he had a big (expensive) beef rib for two that might also interest us. We had no idea what other items were available as the menus were slow to arrive. He said some menu items were not available as part of his specials selling approach. Deliberate strategy in our opinion. We resisted and pressed him for the menus. He did bring them but repeated his specials patter, bringing the display of fish, and suggesting some menu items remained unavailable. We felt rushed by his pushy style and also not seeing the main menus promptly added to this pressure. We were asked to order drinks immediately on arrival and had started these, making us feel trapped or otherwise we would have walked out. He also cracked some joke about Manuel in Fawlty Towers as he saw we were English. He repeated this approach we noticed with other tables. We eventually ordered off the menu, resisting his specials. He grudgingly said they could do the items we wanted. The food when it arrived - a nice seafood paella and also fillet steak. But a very average veggie paella. Didn’t like his attitude. Bit like bullying us to have the specials. Not putting the customer first. We notice others commenting in similar tone on TA reviews. We won’t go back.

What a shame

Have been to this place every year and have always enjoyed until this year. A couple leaving told us to avoid but we thought we knew better. Big mistake - previous staff (Xavier and Amadeus) have been fun but the two new waiters (the Chuckle brothers!)were surly, slow and , in our eyes and whether due to Brexit, anti UK people. We put the bad service on the first night to being busy and went again the following night. I had a rum and coke which came with a slice of lemon which I always remove. After waiting over 20 minutes for our 2nd drink , mine came out with virtually a whole lemon spiralled and peeled in the glass. Very funny. All being served by one gloating waiter whilst the other one was mumbling “los cojones” beside us. Not a pleasant - sadly will not be going back

Restaurant for tourists, not recommended.

The truth is that it has been a very tense and unpleasant meal. The blonde waitress has very bad manners with customers and has made us feel very uncomfortable. The food was quite normal with small portions for the price we paid, which was exorbitant. I don't recommend it at all, and I think the only thing they are interested in is the tourism that comes once, you hit them with the bill but they don't come back again and we Canaries care very little about us. There are less renowned restaurants on that same corner where you would eat the best paella in Tenerife with great staff.

Best seafood in the area!!!

Outstanding food!!! We have been eating seafood in different restaurants since we got here 5 days ago and the quality of this place is way superior. We got there at 10pm and did not feel rushed even though they closed at 11. Had the chopitos, tomatoe salad, padrón peppers, Galician bread with mojo and grilled choco. Everything was simply perfect and the service was impeccable. We decided to stop by today to enjoy a gin and tonic after lunch and our waiter remembered that my hubby likes his G&T with lime. To our surprise, he brought him limes. It’s truly the small things that make an outing special and this place makes it happen

Ordered 2 course meal, 2nd course came when we had not finished our starter. Appalling cut of fillet steak, chips dried out & cold. Had to ask for another option, as was told main meal came with chips, when ordering the meal. Felt thet could not wait for us to leave, as wanted to close. Awful experience, would not recommend and advise to stay away😡

Mixed view on the food. Octopus and squid excellent, prawns were undercooked and needed to be sent back for more cooking, Lamb was bones and tasteless. Quite expensive compared to other restaurants in the area.

The fries were good.

We had lunch here and chose a table looking out into the square. It's not a very picturesque view. I chose a sirloin steak that wasn't good. The fries were actually good and I saw the cook hand cutting them in the kitchen. The meal was overpriced for what it was. I didn't feel that I got value for money. Service was ok and the toilet was clean. On reflection we should have looked around more.

Such yummy food and amazing service! Nothing was too much trouble, incredible fresh fish, bread to die for, the best Canarian potatoes with mojo's and smiles all round. Went for a mid week dinner and returned for lunch a few days later and still just as good. Thoroughly recommend :-)

Visited this restaurant twice, once in the evening for dinner and again later in the week for lunch. Both times the food and the service were amazing. Waiter was extremely helpful and quick. Will definitely be returning on my next visit to El Medano.

How much do you think I paid for a plate of fish with 5 potatoes and 4 pieces of vegetables? 32€!! Even in Cannes you don't pay this price for a similar view, and much better quality!! disappointing ! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Vile! Avoid!!

Myself and my partner visited this restaurant on our first night in El Medano, just wished we had of checked trip advisor first! We ordered prawns for a starter they were ok. we asked for bread with this and were brought 1 slice between us after we had eaten the prawns, we asked for the 2nd and were told your paella is ready you dont need it. Not impressed. Our paella came out and was literally dropped on our table, full of shellfish which we had asked the waiter to ensure there was none. We picked around this and found actual chicken wings (like frozen wings from iceland) floating about with lumps of grey meat. It was absolutley vile, even thinking of it now. We explained to the waiter and he laughed it off and walked off. We got the bill and were absolutely ripped off 65 for prawns, a terrible paella, 3 slices of bread (only got 1), a coke and a wine. They must have seen us a mile off! Do yourself a favour and go somewhere in the back streets that do authentic spanish food and dont make a fool of you!

if you don't want the traditional touristy food e.g. Italian, Chinese or burgers... go for a traditional dining experience at el Médalo.
