So glad the Italian restaurants were closed as this is an amazing Indian restaurant

We came to the Town to go to 1 of the 5 Italian Restaurants but they were all closed. Thank God as this was a gem of a find. We got a starter for 2 and a chicken tikka starter and they were exceptional. Even the layout on the plate was really nice. The mains were fantastic as well. A Tandoori mixed grill, Chicken Tikka Masala and a chicken Buhna. Very high standard. A few days before this we went to Bombay Babu in Costa Adeche and it’s would be like comparing 5 star cuisine to a burger van. Top food and really nice staff.

I came in for a takeaway and a couple of drinks whilst waiting . I ordered Chicken Tikka Phall , Pilau Rice , Peshawar Naan , Absolutely beautiful food ! Big peices of Tandoori Chicken , great fluffy rice and the Naan was huge . The Phall was the perfect heat for me ! Thankyou .

We had a really nice meal at Basmati for my daughters birthday. 5 of us and we had a mix of dishes. I am vegetarian and was recommended the Malai Kofta. I found the dish to be too dense and stodgy so I wouldn't have that again but everything else that we had was perfect. Poppadoms, cheese Naans, sashlik, jalfrazi, masala, bhajis, saag aloo and rices all great. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely return. We are residents and live local so great to have a nice Indian so nearby.

Really disappointing and overpriced

Visited as a group of friends and lovers of curry. We ordered 3 different dishes and all were very disappointing. Poppadum and pickle tray was extortionate for what you got, a tea spoon of mango chutney, raita and onion. Had to order an extra portion. Garlic naan was basically a thin dry bed with chunks of garlic pressed in. The most spicy dish was oddly sweet with no flavour other than heat. The plain boiled rice was also dry and extortionately priced. We politely offered feedback when we got the bill - weren’t expecting discount, would prefer to say in person rather than leaving a negative review online because we know that this can be damaging, however this was not well received, the waiter told us that rice was supposed to be dry and that the naan was fine. Overall a really disappointing experience. Hate leaving negative reviews but this place needs to up their game massively.

Poor Food - would avoid.

Nice decor but that was it!. The food frankly was very disappointing. The lamb used for kebab and keema rice was very processed and sweet. Onion Bhaji was stodgy in texture. Butter chicken was similarly lacking in taste with poor quality chicken pieces in it. We left almost all of it. The kitchen - visible from toilet access route - was cooking and then storing rice in an unsafe way which would not be allowed in a UK commercial restuarant in our opinion. We did complain but were only offered a 10% discount off bill. We eat a lot of curries but this was one of the worst we have experienced. Would be surprised if it lasts 6 months.......

Really awful. Avoid!

Really really bad! This is the worst Indian restaurant I have ever been to. Awful food and terrible service. The butter chicken tasted like tomato puree and the Dal makhani was not even made from black dal! When I queried the dal the manager just told me that the dishes weren't meant to be authentic and this was just the way it was. No attempt at an apology. Several large tables came in over the course of the evening only to be told that their table had been given away when they were only 5-10 minutes late. We waited an hour for our food. We couldn't get out of there quickly enough.

Had Three meals at BASMATI In one week. Lovely Place, Service was very good and Good atmosphere and Dishes were all Top Rank, Finished off with a Vindaloo on my last outing. Very Good food, Service and Decor, clean and tidy and only open in October 2023. Thank you men for great Experience. 👏

best indian food i had around the island. wanted to order everything. the butter chicken is very good and their samosas are legit. waiters are super nice and friendly asked me several times if i enjoyed the food. sat there with my food and read very nice evening. i suggest buying a good lot of food more than you can eat then take the rest back to your hostel to reheat. going there again today because it was so AMAZING

Basmati restaurant don’t do it

It was terrible when asked if meal was ok I said it was too salty and my wife’s chicken tikka was burnt hard on outside like crackling on pork Manager then said what do you want me to do loud enough for others to wonder what fuss was about do you want a free shot I think he thought we were looking for free meal which was not the case We paid bill in full and left discussed with his attitude Don’t ask how food is if you don’t expect honesty. 3 Indian restaurants in San blas all superb Worth the ten euro taxi or 2 euro bus This is first time I have complained about a restaurant I hope this helps Jon

Fabulous Indian food.

Fabulous Indian food and a good atmosphere, well worth a visit. We went with friends and had a range of dishes which were tasty. The naan bread was ok but the rest was lovely.
