Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a relatively new venture for a very experienced Chef/owner, located in a family restaurant. The review stating it was the nearest to fine dining was correct but the only thing missing from that is the outrageous cost. This restaurant is if anything underselling itself. Ok it’s a bit heavy handed on the chillier but the care and presentation is first rate, coupled with excellent front of house service and very reasonable prices, it’s hardly surprising it turns away a lot of walk ups. I strongly recommend booking and enjoying the food before reality kicks in and the prices go up to match the standard.well done Fran.

I can highly recommend this restaurant for good food and service, a small group of ten people had various dishes. The duck was excellent, so was the fresh lobster pasta, real spicy and the cod was to die for. Will be returning there for sure, five stars.
Thanks Fran for great service.

Playa Santiago has several great restaurants but, after our first dinner at Kuss, we visited 2 more times and found it consistently good, with the setting, food and service all a notch or two above their local competition.
Located at the western end of Playa Santiago promenade, with views over the beach and harbour - tables on the elevated terrace particularly nice.
Food is an interesting mix of local cuisine and Asian influences, with an emphasis on seafood but something for most tastes including vegetarians.
We particularly enjoyed the baby clam starter (save some bread for the lovely white wine sauce with just a hint of garlic!) lightly grilled fish and nicely seasoned steaks - but star of the show has to be the subtly spiced fish red curry that so reminded us of our visits to Thailand.
Wines are good and sensibly priced (Lieras Albariño good with fish and at €17 is decent value) while a 1/4 bottle of Cordonieu 1551 serves 2 small glasses of fizz - nice way to start the evening.
Service was consistently good and the staff made everyone welcome.
So Kuss deservedly gets a hard earned 5* review for consistently great food, good value and impeccable service. Highly recommended.

The starters were promising, but then the pasta was hopelessly overcooked to a doughy, unedible mash (something that would never happen in Italy, which confirmed again that you shouldn't order pasta at a non-Italian restaurant). We felt sorry for the tasty porcini in it. Even the chef admitted he had overcooked the pasta, but nothing was offered to us to make up for it. We thought OK, maybe they will get us something else or some liqueur at the end, or at least not charge us for that pasta mess. But nothing. No apology, and they even charged us for that terrible pasta we didn't eat. Spanish service. Just absolutely awful.

I personally had the duck, with others in my family having steaks. Both came with potatoes as pictured. Fantastic experience, my duck was perfectly cooked and came with sauce made with local sap honey, the steaks looked and I was told were fantastic, and came with fried goats cheese and sauces. The best experience I have had so far in la gomera in terms of eating. 10/10

Since we were last here some nine months ago, things have changed. The menu is far more varied and extensive, what hasn’t changed is the quality, presentation and level of service. This is now a truly superb restaurant that is fully booked very evening, we counted 14 walk ups yesterday who went away disappointed. Well done Fran, you will get fed up with seeing us.

We were told on being given the menu that quite a few items weren’t available, probably over one-third. Upon choosing, the waiter came back and said one of the main courses selected was now unavailable as was the chosen replacement.
The wine list contained only about 20 wines but both our first choice white and red were unavailable. We were the last ones in the restaurant at 10:15 and as soon as we had paid the bill, the staff were putting on their coats and turning off lights while we still at the table.
Having said that, the food that was available was tasty enough but overall not a great experience.

This restaurant gets very busy, you definately need to book in advance, we were turned away the first time we tried to eat there .
The food offers something a bit different from the other restaurants locally , a little more upmarket in its recipes and presentation which made a nice change.
As others have said there is often things missing off the menu (including the local wines ), but at least you know it isn’t mass produced !
The starters and mains were all cooked well, good sized and really tasty,
Staff were pleasant and helpful, food came promptly. A good all round experience.

Had several good meals here. Portions are larger than real tapas, but just adjust the number of dishes for the size of your party.
However, we waited more than 40 minutes for a bill recently. The computer system totally fell over, but did anyone tell us what was going on? They ended up shooing me out without paying as I was irate! And the tables were all full.
BUT, I have booked to go back! Glutton for punishment? Or perhaps that tells you the food is worth it! And I give the staff 4 stars for table service. I haven’t adjusted that - because you would be very unfortunate to suffer the same problem, I hope!

Do you like everything to have a hint of Asian flavour? If so this could be the place for you. Parcelled prawns came with a chilli sauce and we think they had come a long way. The vegetarian Thai curry was little more than standard boiled vegetables, including too many carrots, covered with a standard sauce. Fish of the day was on the menu but they didn’t have any. The alternative fillet of tuna was spoilt for me by more of the chilli sauce.
Kuss is the smartest restaurant in Playa Santiago, but the service slowed right down as it filled up. We didn’t wait for desserts and coffee.
There are much better restaurants in town.

I'm puzzled why Kuss gets so few reviews. Our visit there was hugely enjoyable and the food was beyond expectations, although I'm a bit puzzled why it calls itself a tapas bar. It's probably the closest you'll get to fine dining in Playa Santiago, and the restaurant certainly looks more upmarket than its competitors. The food was superb. My starter of clams cooked in wine was lovely, followed by a main dish of freshly made crab ravioli which was absolutely delicious. All in all, a great find.

We noticed the "Kuss" restaurant on our walk along Playa Santiago through the white, rather inconspicuous interior. The tables were simple, but at second glance they were smartly set. A friendly waitress invited us to sit down straight away. We did and were not disappointed. For starters we had goat's cheese with pepper jam and tuna with salad and avocado tartare, both of which were beautifully presented and also tasted great. The tuna fillets were marinated and the pepper jam was complemented by a basil jus. For the main course we had octopus in tempura. This was cooked to perfection and the pickled onions went very well with it. The tempera "coating" was subtle, so that the octopus tasted very good. That was all we needed. For dessert we had a mango sorbet. Delicious all around. The restaurant staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was served on time. We got the right price-performance ratio. We would be happy to come back.

We ate here last night and everything was very good. We slightly over ordered as the dishes are generous. I loved the grilled baby squid with black garlic and honey, flavoursome and do tender. The prawns in pastry were light and large juicy prawns. The green curry with fish was excellent too.
I would recommend, very good value for the quality of the food.
Probably best to book

Super small restaurant near the waterfront. Friendly and relaxed service. The restaurant was bustling on a Saturday night. Good Covid measures in place.
My goats cheese starter and serano ham starter was absolutely delicious. I could eat it agin right now. All four of us enjoyed our courses and I have no hesitation in recommending the restaurant.

We enjoyed fabulous tapas / starters of king prawns and baby squid.
My octopus main course was delicious
My wife’s Thai green curry with seafood was only spoiled by some gritty prawns. Plus she thought she ordered a slightly different dish (but may be wrong)
Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was the gritty bits.
Service excellent and wine nice.
Nice view too.
Have rebooked for Sunday and will try meat dishes.
