We went for a coffee late one morning liked the atmosphere very very relaxed and decided to go for lunch the next day . So glad we did, garlic prawns to start followed by the freshest fish (Hake) potatoes and salad, bottle of la Gomera wine and coffee all brilliant. Not going to say how much it was as everyone will go there! No booking so go early or late.

Visited Chalana, once again on our visit to Santiago, it never disappoints. You know that the fish is fresh, that you will be sitting on plastic chairs and the beer and wine cold. Perfect place to relax and be very lazy over a long lunch.

Went for Sunday lunch just two of us. Arrived t 1215 and given a table outside under shade. Sat and had a drink. Service slow but we had obviously arrived just behind a number of others and as it was were early were happy having a pre lunch drink. My wife’s Caipirinha was large and strong (€5) and the beer cold Food order was taken and we wanted to have both the tuna in red sauce (had been recommended by hotel reception) and the calamari which we’ve had before, plus mixed salad. Owner tried to dissuade us saying it was too much but at 11/12 euros each we thought “why not”. Took maybe half an hour to arrive but again no problem to us as we were enjoying the location and weather. Food was fantastic and, of course, he was right. Tried our best but had to admit defeat. Staff friendly, food great and very reasonably priced and we love the ambiance. When we left around 2 there was a queue of 8-10 people, so go early as you cannot book. Will return.

We have eaten here many times over the years and it never fails to please with good, local, fresh seafood. It has gone upmarket since our last visit in 2018 with a new floor and new windows. But it has retained its beach shack feeling and the calamari, seafood salad and grilled sardines were as good as ever. Well done La Chalana, see you next week!

The first overall impression is that of a seaside shack, but this is a well-known and respected restaurant especially by those with a love for fresh fish. The restaurant is basic, but has a lovely location on the seashore and it offers good quality food with ample portions, cheery service and decent prices. We had fresh sardines, E9 and Prawns Gomera, E10-50. Bookings are not accepted and it is probably wise to check opening times.

The food was disastrous. All the fish was frozen, the waiter told us that it was a fish market problem. We ordered the least bad thing that could be frozen, tuna, and it was shocking. The tuna was dry, very fried, you couldn't swallow it. The mojo Picón was a sauce with paprika...Mulled wine Anyway, the products are painful and the kitchen even more so... I don't know where the outstanding reviews come from

We chose this place for a light lunch entirely because of its rating, since the premises are mediocre and the sole obvious merit is its beach location., The menu is very limited and we chose a different salad each. One comprised only ham and the other only tomatoes. Both had olive oil, of course and the latter a sprinkle of tarragon. Ok, but pretty ordinary and certainly boring. One small beer , a coffee and a sparkling water brought the bill to just over £20 each. So, on quality, cost and the milieu, two stars is fairly generous. Still, you may prefer the majority view, which we both found utterly inexplicable.

Cosy little beach bar. They do not take bookings and are not always open in the evenings. However everything is superb, menu is online so you need a smart phone but no need just have the fish of the day. Served grilled, salad and Canarian potatoes, add a beer in a frozen glass or a carafe of wine what more could you ask for, oh just add the the sun sparkling on the water and the sound of waves crashing on the rocks. Just perfect.

We are in the Canary Islands, so the relaxed atmosphere is fine, but there is a limit. Making you wait 50 minutes to bring the dishes and when - fed up - you go to pay for the drinks to leave and discover that they hadn't even started preparing them yet... well, that's a lack of professionalism. It means not knowing how to manage a restaurant, even if the opinion of passing tourists is perhaps of little interest. Very negative.

We have gone to this place, recommended, and what has been our surprise, that upon arriving not even the good hours, they have given us, who I believe is the person in charge of the joint, tells us that the kitchen closes in 10 minutes, which I understand , but then don't offer us a table, and to make matters worse, he tells us that we have two dishes!! Incredible... what if we had wanted 3, 4 or 5 dishes!??? The flies invaded everything, in short we will not return, the service leaves much to be desired.

Disappointing. After a trip where the island's gastronomy surprised us with its products and preparations, we chose this place because of its proximity to the airport and recommendations. Perhaps our choice was not the best, although the staff's recommendations were some fresh mackerel for that day, the rest, as they told us, WAS EVERYTHING FROZEN. We chose some croquettes and some squid which were accompanied by frozen potatoes (a garnish that we would have changed if we had known) and a little salad. Nothing could be further from thinking that with those prices the products were not of higher quality, since the squid, for my taste, was not squid. Overrated beach restaurant that should not qualify for such a high score as it has.

This is a lovely laid back beach restaurant, we enjoyed their house salad, calamari and enormous portion of fries. Beers were served in iced glasses, large and cheap!. try their baraquito coffee, the best we found.

The people working were super friendly and fast and gave great recommendations on what to try. Best Papas Arugadas we had so far and the Queso von Mojo was also incredible. They also had a pretty impressive selection of Spanish and other local beer. Definitely worth a visit.

Reduced menu in the evening which we were only told about once we’d ordered and been served drinks. We ordered garlic prawns and tuna croquettes and asked if we could have Canarian potatoes as the menu didn’t seem to include anything with the dishes, however we were told this wasn’t possible so we asked if they could go frites and they said yes. The croquettes came with frites and salad but we weren’t told that. Two other couples one before us and one after us were served canarian potatoes! Food was ok but service was not good the waiters were too busy chatting with friends all evening. We eventually went to the bar and paid as we couldn’t be bothered to wait any longer for service. Shame because the setting is great right on the beach.

After 10 minutes of waiting to order and another 45 minutes waiting for the dishes to arrive... we asked for the bill. The lady didn't blink, it seems she's used to it. He just checked how far away our dishes were in the kitchen… and they hadn't started cooking them yet. This is not how a professional behaves
