Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Why do you ask? Well, we were soaking up too much of their WiFi that it was affecting their PoS system.
We're digital nomads and introduced ourselves as much at the till when asked if we were local or just visiting. We ordered our food and found a spot to eat and do a bit of work. I had a full fry, which was overcooked, and greasy and the beans needed parting with a knife they were that dry. My wife who has had bariatric surgery typically orders a child's meal, the menu offered a Jumbo Fish and Chips and drink, the "Jumbo Fish" was not as described, it was the size of two side-by-side fish fingers.
Our obviously used plates were left at our table the whole time. Many staff walked. past and not one offered to clear them.
The music upstairs was a tad too loud for comfort and we'd asked if it could be turned down, to which they kindly just turned it off completely. We ordered more drinks (at that point my wife took our used plates down the counter), as we were obviously working from their cafe and it's only right you keep spending money instead of squatting at their tables. A server then came up and asked what WiFi we were using, as their PoS system was struggling. We were using the BT WiFi system that we pay for through our provider, which I guess was causing them issues, not of our making as it's a side channel possibly from their own network.
The music then came back on again. Then we were asked if we could vacate the premises as there were large queues forming downstairs (even though there were only two occupied tables upstairs (which included ours) and they needed the space.
We finished our beverages, got up, and left. The only way to exit was down the stairs where there were indeed NO queues at all, and still plenty of seating available outside in the sunny area out the back.
Not a great experience for a National Trust premises.

We called in for coffee and cake, always a tricky one for me as I am gluten and dairy intolerant. It was no issue, they had alternate milk for my coffee and it was clearly marked which cakes were gluten free.
The staff were quite young and seemed inexperienced but they were friendly and worked together to provide what we ordered.
Free parking right alongside the building was great as my friend has mobility issues.
A great experience and I would recommend this as a tea room.

We popped in here today for the first time and delighted that we did. Warm welcome, delicious vegetable soup and superb wheaten bread. Extremely tempted by the traybakes (especially the raspberry ruffle! But sadly I prefer milk chocolate to dark chocolate on the top)
We will definitely return - a very enjoyable lunch. As we were leaving we passed by customers who were just receiving their fish and chips - wow! Amazing portions. Next time we'll have to order the fish and chips

We visited Cushendun this weekend after a lovely stay in Cushendall! Unfortunately a visit to the Cushendun tearooms really spoiled the end of our visit.
We visited at lunch time after fun at the beach - 6 adults & 4 young children. We sat outside and ordered teas & coffees as were told the kitchen wouldn’t be taking food orders for 20 mins! We were happy to wait and then ordered up a very simple selection of soup and sandwiches. After a 40 min wait from our order was taken we asked how much longer it would be as the children were growing impatient. No one came back to us! We asked again 20 mins later, after which someone came out to say our order had not been sent to kitchen!!
We were at the tearooms a full hour and 40 mins during which time not even the empty cups of tea & coffee were cleared.
We ended up leaving with 4 very hungry, unhappy children.
A serious review of management, communication and staffing required!! Perhaps a couple of free ice creams might of eased the situation- but no one thought to even offer that!!!

I arrived for my food extremely overpriced, thought it would be high quality, however when arrived the food was cold very sub power quality. Accompanied by a very rude older man behind the tills assuming is the owner mumbling under his breathe strange remarks, providing low customer service. Nice location not so nice cafe.

Very rude manager, refused to serve our table of 6 a jug of tap water, as it was against 'Covid regulations', and said they could only sell bottled water at 1.50 for 500ml. This is quite clearly nonsense as there are no such covid "no tap water regulations" - Clearly just a money racket to sell overpriced bottled water. For someone so concerned about Covid, he wasn't wearing a mask at till and standing outside a short while later smoking a large cigar at the entrance, touting for business with a menu, reminiscent of a tacky Turkish tourist trap - not something I expect to see at a national trust controlled property. The downstairs toilets are absolutely filthy, and although the waiting staff are quite friendly, they all seemed new and untrained - it has an air of chaos, we waited over an hour for our order, and although quite busy, it was by no means packed. An odd little door at the front of the premises sells ice cream on a Cash only basis, which is clearly a little HMRC avoidance sideline. Food is fine, but very overpriced considering the quantity, quality, service and internal surroundings.

We visit Cushedun every month as family live here and this summer the corner house experience has gone from good to bad . Yesterday … we went in because of the gluten free options advertised on the board outside. But when we went in no gluten options as advertised, also before we went in because of the choice of milks including almond and coconut , to our disappointment none of these either . We however still ordered for the rest of our party coffee and cakes totalling £27.50 , i then asked for glass of water and was refused and offered a bottle , I did say no I just want tap water , he said he couldn’t give me this . In my confusion I asked why he said because not licensed ….it is in fact a choice of any unlicensed business on whether to serve tap water and the owner( I believe ) refused on this occasion a customer who had just spent 27.50 on four tray bakes and four coffee , with only reason being I couldn’t get a coffee to fit my allergens. To say I was embarrassed is an understatement , having spent 27.50 and to be refused a glass of water by the owner to me is not how you treat paying customers .
So today we decided instead of going back we went across the road to Mc brides bar , the coffee was lovely with almond milk and the chocolate fudge was yummy …. Much better value than corner house . Even more important the service was first class nothing was a hassle including a glass of water.

A beautiful quaint setting befitting the National Trust, staff were young and friendly. Coffee tasted of stagnant water like it was from an old flask, and the Game of Thrones cake tasted like it was made several hundred years ago. Very disappointing .

We visited for lunch could not fault the food it was cooked to perfection. I had asked for a sandwich and was offered a takeaway sandwich at £4.15 which was sitting on the counter. I asked if I could have a sandwich made up with chicken and coleslaw. This was not a problem but I was charged £6.95. I felt this was over the top. It’s such a pity as we had recommended this establishment to so many family and friends. We won’t visit or recommend again. We just felt the customer was taken advantage of.

Brilliant little cafe & totally confused abt negative remarks. Great food / service / price & atmosphere. Originally going eat in Ballycastle but too busy - sooo glad we didnt as we wld have missed this little gem! The homemade roast pepper & tomato soup (with a kick courtesy of chilli) was the best soup I have tasted in a long time! Sandwiches amazing too.
Make sure you finish off with coffee (milk alternatives offered) & homemade cake! Amazing!
If I was not staying in Cushendun I wld make the effort to travel here - give the eating places in busy Ballycastle a miss!
We will be back! Jo & Carole

Situated on the main street, the cafe is just minutes from the picturesque river where all the boats are moored. We called the first time for lunch and sat in the quiet area upstairs where we had the Cod tacos. Service was good and the tacos were delicious. The ice cream parlour opened whilst we were there so we finished off with a delicious cone.
Later in the week we intended to go to the pub across the road, but even though they dont take bookings said that they were full for the entire evening (this was at 4pm)!
This time we sat at a table in the courtyard where we were able to escape the sun under a parasol. We had the cod and chips and chicken goujons. Again, the food was deliciouis, and we had a lovely chat with the owner.
The cafe was very busy but even though they were about to close they were happy to serve main meals and to wait patiently for everybody to finish.
There is of course some history in the building, being a National Trust property, but this is not too obvious.

We were working up quite an appetite while road tripping down the North Coast from Giants Causeway back to Belfast and decided to stop in Cushendun for lunch.
Completely by chance, we walked into the Corner House. My friend recommended we try the seafood chowder since its a traditional Irish dish.
Our food arrived quickly and a piping hot bowl filled to the brim was placed in front of each of us.
Oh my word!!!
I could not have been happier with our order, it was absolutely delicious! So rich and creamy, you could taste the fresh cream and quality ingredients, I was very impressed! Plus the massive chucks of salmon made me very happy :)

NEW OWNERS!!!!! Fabulous!!!!! The standards are up and its so noticeable, that I actually asked if it had been taken over. The news was yes!! These new owners are polite and very welcoming and will bend over backwards to keep you happy. Theres a new menu and the food is so much better than it has been since the last owners took it over. It was so bad then that we would have drove somewhere else rather than stay in the village. Wishing the new owners every happiness in their new venture.

We called in here for lunch. We both had seafood chowder which was a big disappointment. It consisted of mostly potato and carrot with a few flakes of salmon and no evidence of any other seafood. At ÂŁ25 for 2 chowder and a cappuccino I think this place is terribly overpriced for sub standard food.

Would 100% recommend popping in for a portion of fish and chips for lunch. Lovely outdoor seating area too. The fish was very tasty, and portions are very generous. Very friendly service as well, we had a good chat and a laugh with the owners! Looking forward to our next visit.
