Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Based on the feedback on TripAdvisor I decided to try La Osteria. Not impressed unfortunately; although there were 2 waiters for no more than 10 persons, service was slow (I had to remind 2x to bring the wine with the food), food was OK but...too cold and definitely nothing memorable. Won't recommend!More

Delicious Italian dishes that surprised us and won our hearts. Authentic staff where we had to guess here and there which is part of the charm. Wonderful experience and highly recommendable. The dishes are quite large.

And very good value for a Michelin starred restaurant We were there Med week and it was very quiet the osteria was closed and you needed to ring the bell for the fine dining restaurant Mr and Mrs Palluda were at the door greeting guests...sadly my Italian is not good for more than a few niceties but it added a welcoming feel- more so as the young enthusiastic waitress spoke excellent English We sat on the terrace overlooking the town and had a front row table. We opted for the small menu( a copy of which you are given) which I found in my suitcase when I repacked it this week hence the late review and a wine flight As everywhere in Piemonte the wines were excellent and for the two of us we paid not more than you pay for one half decent bottle in the UK but boy there were wines The menu Baby octopus with cocoa and leak - a for me novel combination and despite my love of octopus not 100 % convincing 7/10 Almond waffle , steak tartare and anchovies... as a carnivore you will love this 10/10 Salad of snails green apple and parsley what a surprise I really loved this 9/10 Porcini mushrooms, ovioli in veal sauce mushroom lovers heaven 9/10 Ravioli, cheese, green tomato, basil 10/10 I am ashamed to score pasta so high, but when in Italy The risk is the mains are below the starters so here lamb, mustard and beetroot a great combination but the lamb a bit over for me and the beetroot a bit too heavy possibly not a summer dish... 5/10 Lemon sorbet, olive oil and olive seeds - back in heaven 9/10 Only hazelnuts 8/10 This is what was written on the menu on top of this there were amuse bouche, pre dessert a lot of tasters a heavenly (and very filling) meal would perhaps go a la carte next time to avoid overeating Well presented, friendly and good value-what’s not to like ?More

After visiting a Canale-based winery, we stopped for dinner at Davide Palluda's casual Osteria and are glad we did. We ordered local Roero wines and the daily menu, which included some great traditional Piemontese dishes. Each was an exceptionally delicious and meticulously prepared, as one...would expect from a renowned Michelin starred chef. As porcini mushrooms had become available, the kitchen asked if we would enjoy our gnocchi prepared with porcini versus a ragu...not a difficult choice for my family! Chef Palluda stopped by to check on our dinner; he is a very charming and talented fellow. Would love to return and try his gourmet restaurant, but would be happy any night of the week to return to the Osteria. Those visiting the Alba, Barbaresco, Barolo area or Roero need to put this place on their itineraries! Did I mention the fantastic Arneis and Nebbiolos on their reasonably priced wine list?More

We visited the osteria that is run by the chef of the one star restaurant on the first floor (where we go later this week). We got excellent and creative dishes for a very good price, in a nice setting combining tradition with contemporary, much...like their kitchen. We would certainly recommend this Osteria.More

We were recommended to visit by our guide at a winery. We were really thrilled with the whole experience. The chef is quite talented and we got to see him exit the restaurant to pick some fresh herbs from the garden right next to the...porch where we were dining. Our server understood English so it was easy to communicate. We loved the carne cruda, gnocchi with meat sauce, and the zucchini flowers. The zucchini flowers were stuffed with cheese and served with a cherry tomato sauce which was a fresh dish we hadn't seen at other places in the area. We both loved it. The carne cruda was clearly of very high quality. The gnocchi was also quite good. We had a glass of Arneis as well but I'm not sure where it was from (was the blackboard white). Very great for a casual but delicious lunch while touring the area.More

Interesting atmosphere with a modern focus on wine. It was a little hard to find as it is in it's own square, but worth trying to locate. It was not overly full for lunch, and the staff was friendly and helpful but not invasive. Nice...tasting plates with a variety of choices. All food had nice flavor and presentation. Gnocchi with Ragu was the favorite.More

We have popped in based on a good reviews on Trip Advisor. It was Thursday night and the bistro was half empty. If you however go on busy days (Fridays, Saturdays), you better make a reservation as when we were back on Friday night it...was fully booked. The interrior of the bistro is very nice and cosy and we felt there really well. The only objection I would have that it would be good if they play some stylish music as if the place is not particularly busy it is lacking atmosphere a little bit. We had a brilliant beef tartar as a starter, raviolli as a main course were very good and the Barbera d´Alba red wine was perfect too. Price are very reasonable for the quality service you get. I can recommend this place.More

This is a great Osteria. Casual, but well appointed dining room, service is more casual, but still correct. We were accompanied by a local winery owner who helped translate for us, and we had a bottle of an older Roero from his winery that was...just fantastic. So glad we went, I would definitely recommend this Osteria, the food was outstanding.More
