Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were driving through Hahndorf on our way back to Crafers when we spotted the Udder Delights sign on the Grunthal building just near the major roundabout entrance to the highway. We stopped to investigate as our group still purchase and enjoy Udder Delights' cheeses....There was plenty of free parking outside. Inside the Udder Delights Cellar Door occupied one small corner of the very modern building, the rest being occupied by a long bar selling Grunthal wares amongst other things, a kitchen and an expansive dining area. There was cheese tasting available at the Cellar Door and the lovely lady on duty served each of us up a selection of six cheeses and a paste condiment on a long cracker. Thoroughly enjoyed five of the six. There was a very good selection of Udder Delights cheeses and other products available for sale. Looked like a good place to have a meal but we were already booked into a restaurant for dinner.More

We attended Udder Delights yesterday for a family celebration. It was a beautiful day, the food was wonderful: the truffle cheese toastie, the fondue, the banana bread with salted maple butter and grilled banana all splendid. Our only problem was that there were so many...other menu items we would have liked. We finally staggered out with take away pizzas ( they looked soooo good) and bags full of cheeses, terrine and other goodies. Thanks to all the lovely staff who made our day memorable.More

Did a cheese making class, wish I had more time to stay longer & experience lunch or something in the restaurant & brewery. Class was fantastic, the learning & sharing was great thank you Sheree. This is a must do, so much story, hard work,...guts & determination behind this business. Cheeses & other goodies are delish! Can't wait to go back & try the pizza made with special dough! Thank you, will be backMore

Unfortunately, the move to combine Udder Delights with Grunthal Brew just doesn’t work. What was a wonderful friendly high standard eatery in the main street of Hahndorf is now more like a Munich beer hall on the outskirts of the town. This is fine for...the brewery side of the operation, but it’s a disaster for the cheese side as it’s lost many of the qualities that made it so attractive.eg the cosy atmosphere and the wonderful range of winter soups. We’ve been regulars at UD for many years, but, sadly, won’t be returning.More

We spent a relaxed morning enjoying high tea under a shady tree on the patio area. Service fantastic and friendly, even made sure we had water for the dog. Started with a glass of wine or coffee, Food udderly delicious and more than we could...eat. I had the gluten free option but you would not have known it was gluten free. All served with a large pot of tea from the available range. Highly recommendedMore

The place is lovely! You can have breakfast or lunch everything is delicious, for breakfast we have the toasty ( mouthwatering) and crumpet with goat cheese all portion well served. We decide to to come back for lunch because they had the fondue, it was...the right choice the fondue was terrific and we had in the cellar downstairs that was very cozy. All the girls working there were helpful and attentive their service was top notch!More

Went for a hot chocolate. Surrounding every counter they had scattered real hot chocolate take away but in store they serve powdered mix which had very little flavour. The coffee was bitter so I bit the bullet and complained. She did offer a replacement coffee...after I said I did not like it. No refund offered to me or an apology.More

Easter Sunday brunch. My husband and I shared the meat and cheese platter. Great choice. It was delicious with enough food for our two teenage children to also have a try. WE didnt have a reservation and they had most of their tables reserved, but...were kind enough to use one of the outside tables until the reserved time. It was a good 1 1/2 hours and plenty of time for us to enjoy our meals. Just wish we had another day to pop back as there was so many great items on the menu we would have loved to have tried. Next time :)More

Had lunch here as part of a private winery tour for two - fantastic! The ploughman's lunch board was ample for us and super super delish! The cheeses, butter, charcuterie were fantastic, the condiments straight from beerenberg farm up the road and the warm house...made gluten free rolls were AWESOME. A lesson for everyone else doing gluten free - this is your standard, you can do better!More

Hahndorf is a great place, and an easy way to pass a couple of hours. Udder delights is a fantastic way to finish off the trip, a bit of cheese, nice wine and a perfect place to people watch. The cheese platter is great value,...with only a few dollars to add any cheese to the platter. Staff are super friendly, and service is prompt.More
