Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited on a slightly dismal evening: poor weather, and few patrons. But the welcome was warm, especially from the chatty Neapolitan manager. They are quite strong on “crudi”, fish carpacci etc, but I opted for a decent prawn and asparagus pasta. Pistachio ice cream...to follow. On a pleasant evening it would be a pretty setting with panoramic views.More

Ventotene is a wonderful island and this restaurant offers a very good pizza in a nice atmosphere. The restaurant is big and can be very busy during summer. The food is very good!

My family and I had a wonderful experience at Mast'Aniello. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in Ventotene. The owner and the staff were extremely friendly and kind. They greeted us with a very warm welcome and were extremely professional throughout...the night. The location was very nice and just in front of the sea, you couldn't ask for more. The food selection was varied but we asked to see the "Pescato", this is the daily (just caught) fish selection, settling for a fresh lobster. This may be a little more expensive than the rest of the Menu but well worth the cost. The dish was excellent. The costing of the various dishes was right. In my opinion, neither expesive or cheap. I strongly suggest to try the "Finochietto Amaro" at the end of your meal. It is typical of the Ventotene and Mast'Aniello has the best one on the island.More

Our family of 5 were looking for somewhere to have lunch today when we came into Ventotene off our boat and we went up into the main piazza. We bumped into a mutual friend up there by co-incidence who knew the local area well and...he recommended Mast’ Aniello, and wow we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and all spoke excellent English - they could not do enough for us. After seating us, Mirko enthusiastically showed us the fresh catches of the day on a plata and my sister chose the lobster and mother the pezzogna, he recommended what they should have with it and we went with his recommendations. The lobster came with fresh homemade pasta and tomatoes which my sister said was fab. The rest of us had fresh homemade pizzas and I have to say, it was the best pizza I have ever eaten. I can’t recommend this place enough for anyone that wants an easy but extremely tasty and fresh meal, it was amazing.More

We spent five days on Ventotene and tonight we ate at Mast’Aniello. We were the second table to sit and now 2:50hr later we are finally getting our bill. We had to order our first drinks from the bar, as no one came to take...our order after 15min at the table. The first waiter came to see what drinks we wanted 25min after we sat! Then the drinks showed up 20min lager. The rest of the night was the same: slowest service on Ventotene. It really took away from the experience. Plenty of other tables came and went while we waited way beyond anything we’d expect from a relaxed, fantastically laid back island. I’d recommend going elsewhere, as the food was no better than the many other restaurants we’ve tried. Plus, 60 Euro for a small lobster is a stiff price for what we got.More

My family and I ate lunch here both days we were in Ventotene and it was great. The staff was very helpful and professional. They helped us with the menu and made sure we got everything we needed. The food was so delicious! The second...day we went there the manager came over with the fresh catch of the day and recommended a dish for me and it was probably my favorite meal of my two week stay in Italy. You will be very pleased with the food and service at Mast'AnielloMore

Forget the usual beach restaurants. This one is matchless, and not just for the food and service. Superb location witg stunning views. Overlooking the picturesque Cala Nave beach with its mushroom-shaped turf sea stacks where Greek hero Odysseus fell prey to the sirens' seductive songs,...I had lunch with the sea at my feet, pieds dans l'eau. The owners, guapo smiling local boys with a strong Neapolitan accent, won't mind if you walk in barefoot, leaving sand trails behind. Under a thatched terrace with fresh sea breeze offering a regenerating break from the hot sun rays, I had octopus salad with wild fennel and a cold plate of Bassiano ham, Cantaloupe melon and the real buffalo milk mozzarella cheese, shipped each day from the mainland. It's not the gluey cow milk one you tend to find everywhere, but the original premium mozzarella that oozes out sweet-bitter buffalo milk at each bite. Iconic dish here is Ventotene's lobster, a stout, smaller reddish species served both solo and with spaghetti. Even dessert is handmade: pistacchio and nougat semifreddo, ricotta cheese pies. At the end, with a full belly, you get to relax and chill-out on cozy white sofas craddled by the sound of the waves. Just watch out not to fall asleep!More

If you are visiting Ventotene and you want to try the real cusine from the Naples area this is the place for you. I recommend you to try the mozzarella e prosciutto as well as all the pizzas. Salads are also great! I have not...tried pasta, but it looked delicious!More
