4 of us ( 2 couples) went for dinner on a Saturday evening. We had a semi outside patio area table which had some nice views out over the grounds and toward an outside table seating area.
The food is arranged as a shared plate...type of menu a little larger than entrée size. We did the 'trust the chef' option at $60pp which worked out well, got us a great selection and saved us having to pick from a lot of good choices.
The food was beautifully presented and very tasty! The beverage list also gave us some good options. Defintely worth the trip just out of Huapai, and we will be back to try some more.More
Delicious food. Great for a group to share and taste a selection of options. The market fish, potatoes, and cauliflower were particularly memorable. Very accomodating of dietary requirements, gluten free friendly and peanut free.
Excellent experience had by all! We visited with another couple and enjoyed a great lunch in a lovely setting. Food was served promptly despite large function party in main dining room. Refreshing soda drinks, loved my guava rhubarb. Beef cheeks, fried chicken, lamb, asparagus &...potato dishes were all very scrumptious. For desserts, I had boysenberry cheesecake ice cream which was delicious. Others had passionfruit coconut also delectable, and the citrus meringue. We happily sat out on the nice deck, great weather & brought our dog. Superb friendly service. Would come again, no probs!More
The Tasting Shed is now at an all time low. Very poor quality food compared to the quality many years ago. I recently visited for a lunch and couldn't have had a worse restaurant experience. The Trust the Chef menu offered sub standard food that...wasn't fresh with small portions for the high price.
There was no sense that anyone was actually running the place or really cared. The owner, Ganesh, is rarely there these days and failed to return my calls so he is obviously too busy to bother with how his restaurant is deteriorating and how standards have dropped. I felt compelled to write the review in the hope the Tasting Shed would raise the food quality again and avoid more bad experiences for customers..More
I met my son and his partner at The Tasting Shed for dinner last week. Prior to this I had assumed that The Tasting Shed was the area dedicated to tasting the wines of the adjacent vineyard; Coopers Creek.
It was a great decision. Ours...was an early dinner so it was quiet. The service was warm and friendly without being smothering. The food was excellent with a variety of meat, fish and vegetable plates to choose from.
Your sweet tooth is also catered for with a selection of sweet treats. I had the Portuguese Custard tarts which, although tasty, lacked a little oomph and crunch in the pastry department.
An excellent interlude. We will definitely be going back again.More
The tasting Shed is just far enough from Auckland central to be a trip to the Country. You wont do better tha come for leisurely u ch with friends, order a range if tasting plates and enjoy the ambience a d comoany. Plenty of choice...in dishes. We didnt exhaust the plates so will returnMore
I first visited here 2 years ago and thought it was amazing...yesterday not so, ok but not great. It used to be a place to get excited about and dress up...now more family friendly and not for the better. A tad scruffy. Disappointed
We have visited twice now and although we enjoy the food, the place had the same dirt, dust & cobwebs that were there when we visited last. The place has not had a decent clean for a long time - the cob webs inside the...windows in both the restaurant and toilets are filthy. When the front of house is that dirty, I start to get worried about what it is like back of house. The menu also needs a little more explanation - it turns out the ‘Chicken with spiced yoghurt & scallion’ was deep fried chicken, a dish we would not order had we known this. The menu description is too basic to actually understand what you will be receiving. Having said that, the food is nice and the concept is simple and generally well executed.More
