Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Perfect spot for brekky even in the rain as the umbrellas were big enough to sit under at the outdoor tables. The food was awesome. Omelette was one of the best I have had and my husbands eggs benny was great. Great coffee and the...tea was real tea leaves not tea bags so a huge bonus. Well done team, thank you.More

Absolutely great food, great service and a good price, as always. Sitting in the garden there is plenty of shade on hot days.

Good quality homely food with nice service. I had a full breakfast which was just right and my partner had the waffles which he seemed to enjoy. Interior could do with a spruce up, but not too bad.

We really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, menu choices and excellent service. All the menu options we have tried have been very good and there are plenty of items in the cabinets. The coffee is very good and the outdoor seating is great on a nice...day.More

Went here for lunch with my grandparents today. The atmosphere was not too loud which was nice. The service was quick and took 20 to 30 minutes. I liked that there was time to catch up and have a conversation while waiting for the food...to arrive. The food was delicious and filling. The bacon was cooked well and I loved the golden brown colour on the corn fritters. It was nice that they had Ginger Beer in Peach flavour. They also had Ginger Beer in the Apple Cider and Tropical Mango flavour. You can collect a menu from the indoor kitchen and then you need to walk up to the front and order yourself. There are indoor tables and outdoor tables. We picked the outdoor tables under the sun umbrella, which I think is a nice touch that protects you from the sun in the summer months.More

We stopped in to the Cafe on our way home from Wellington. Cafe is tucked backed off the main road. Beautiful outdoor dining area which we used as was a sunny autumn morning. Food was served quickly even though they were very busy. The breakfast...was delicious. Definitely worth a stop off here.More

My partner and I are very disappointed by the food. I am usually quite tolerant and I will always finish my plate because I like to eat, by principle because I have paid for the food and I have been raised to finish my plate....However, I just couldn't. The Thai Beef Salad has Thai only its name. The beef was chewy and tasteless. The dressing seemed to be poured from a white salad dressing bought at the supermarket. The green salad was watery and they chucked some greens on the top of the plate. This meal has no presentation, tasteless and senseless. My partner has the nachos. The mix meat, bean, tomato sauce was looking very poor and not inviting. I feel sorry the Mexican and Thai cuisine. I don't write review often but I couldn't hold myself. We haven't tried the coffee or cabinet food, but also hear people happy with their meal. Our expectations might be too high.More

We visited River Stone on a winter lunch gathering. Seven of us had no problems in finding something to take our fancy to eat as the all day breakfast and all day lunch menu was very extensive. We reserved a table for 11.45. Just as...well we did as the cafe was soon full. We were impressed by the speedy service both from the kitchen and the barista and our meals were all very nicely presented. Our cappuccinos were right up there with the best on the coast. For afters there was an extensive range of items for dessert from the cabinet and we all indulged to some degree. Not only that but there is also on sale a wide range of sweets and treats, some I have seen nowhere else. Our group meets weekly for lunch up and down the coast and today’s lunch outing was right up there with the best.More
