Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stopped here for lunch. When I entered into the restaurant, I felt an unpleasant smell and I observed that the restaurant was completely vacant. Despite of the first bad impression, I order a "lunch set". Food came after not more than 3 minutes. It...was pre-cooked and really horrible. In the stew there were 3 pieces of roasted chicken. They looked coming out from the leftover of some other client. I didn't eat, I paid the bill and I run away. Having tested hundreds of restaurants in Tokyo, I have no doubt: Calabash is the worst of them.More

There aren't many African restaurants in Tokyo so this is worth a look. On Friday nights there is a live band and they're really good. The band help to create a nice atmosphere but it's a bit loud so if you want an intimate chat,...probably best to come another night! However they do take breaks now and again so you can have a bit of a chit chat between sets. The service is really good, the restaurant itself is cozy and quirky and the food is also good. We tried some of the curries and the barbecue. Generally pretty tasty but the meat was sometimes a little dry. Despite that, a great overall experience- recommended.More

Had gone here with friends on a Friday night. The place gives you a very African feel. Friday nights has the resident drummer/singer playing for some time. A great time with some live African music! The food is good and service is quick.

Four of us having experience in working in Africa long time ago got together to feel Africa there. It is quite near Hamamatsucho station, just three stops from Tokyo and a terminus of monorail going to Haneda Airport.Though underground, it has a wide space and our...conversation sometimes loud could not be heared by other customers. We could enjoy eating west African dishes such as crocodile meat taking African wines and spirits.More

I have been to restaurants that specialize in Ethiopian food, but never one that specialized in west African food, which is quite different. This place has a nice vibe to it. It's classy but not too formal. Service is a really great and friendly. If...you are in Tokyo and want to try something different in this neighborhood, I think this is a good choice. Most of the dishes are stews. Unfortunately, there are no standard vegetarian items on the menu. They made me a nice vegetable stew with rice. It could have used more spices or something else to give it a flavor. I would want to see the restaurant get something before I would return here. But if meat is your thing, I would whole heartedly recommend this place. African beer and wine served. Prices are reasonable.More
