Very pretty, welcoming and friendly staff. Just make sure you are aware of the prices before ordering, if u ask for a bottle of wine they’ll bring the 50 euros one and they do not tell you. In order not to spoil the experience make sure to always ask for a menu before ordering. We also got a tagliere which was ok but definitely overpriced too. So nice but we would definitely not get back.

Lost in translation

Our Italian is non existent which does not aid you in an area where not many Italians speak English. However we entered and found all tables reserved. We said we wanted vino only and would not stay long so it was okay to sit down at the end of a long table. Wine duly arrived. Nothing is measured out just poured by eye so my greedy self told me that my husband’s serving was bigger than mine. Strangely we were then asked if we wanted food after previously being told we couldn’t stay long. The server said the table was reserved for 9pm (it was currently 7.30pm). So we had some bruchetta with a very small plate of mixed cheese and meats along with what looked like cheese on toast. Quite pricey for what we had which left me thinking it would be very expensive to eat here. Maybe if I spoke Italian I may have had a different view. Nice location, great atmosphere. Superb old fireplace with roaring fire and warm on a winter’s night. Friendly staff.

Great food and atmosphere

We had hand crafted beers and a plate of cold cuts and cheese. The atmosphere is amazing and very exquisite food which for the quantity was a tad pricey. The beers however had definitely the right price. Definitely recommended

The architecture alone makes this a must to visit

The architecture is amazing here, creating an incredible ambience. It's predominantly a wine bar but also serves snacks including great meat / cheese platters. The service is good and prices are reasonable.

It had been recommended by the hotel staff so we thought it might be a good pick but I was not impressed. This place must just be considered for a drink, not so much for eating as the choice is rather poor. We ate some cold cuts which were good but in the end it was just average. Would not go back

Great relaxing spot

This restaurant is not your typical restaurant. It is more of an appetizer restaurant that is famous for their smaller dishes and their drink menu. The staff there prepares local and fresh foods that are known within the region. This restaurant is more geared towards people who want a quick bit to eat and enjoy the rustic building that it is in. This is one of my favourite places to eat and have a drink with family and friends before heading to have a big dinner. This is a must try place in the region for true Abruzzo foods. The staff is always happy to great you in many languages including english to make sure that you have a memorable time eating and relaxing here. ENJOY!!!

Rustic and delicious

We came here one night during our stay at the Albergo Diffuso for a light meal. The antipasto plate with a selection of pecorino and prosciutto was perfect. It included some fresh fruit and honey, and the medium size was easily enough for the five of us. We also tried the lentil soup, which was delicious. The atmosphere is very rustic. You feel like you are in a medieval movie, but it is very cozy. Lovely evening.

this bar/bistro wouldn't be out of place in any large city. Very sophisticated in a very understated way. The couple who run it do everything, all food is prepared behind the bar, simple but good, plates of assorted cured meat and cheeses bruschetta etc. and excellent local wine. We ate there for both lunch and dinner, prices very reasonable. You share tables with other folk but it all adds to the atmosphere.

Franco and Serena are young, welcoming hosts and very knowledgeable of the local area and traditions. Their wine selection is comprehensive and excellent value. They offer a simple selection of traditional local food. Il Cantinone could have been used as a setting for the Lord of the Rings movies!
