Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The staff were unfriendly from the minute we walked through the door, which deteriorated into abruptness and rudeness - and the only thing we had said to them at this stage was 'hello'. This was during a week day - haven't experienced such a poor...reception on a weekend, which is when we've been before, but we won't be going back to test it out.More

Coffee was nice, food looked nice enough but not a lot of options with cabinet food. BUT i wasnt impressed with scones and waffles sitting uncovered on the counter right in front of where customers stand and place their orders, and a child sitting on...a bar stool directly in front of items and coughing over them. Poor hygiene standards.More

Food acceptable nothing to rave about. Young staff provide excellent service however. Not dog friendly..got a water bowl at least for out on footpath. No shade and extremely hot in the sun apart from one seat given up by another couple bordering on the neighbours...shop. Dogs not welcome elsewhere...including back yard after we enquired about it. Here's a suggestion. Give your furniture out front a lick of paint(rusty) and provide portable shades to the other two chairs if you are not prepared to provide accommodation for dogs out back. Note small dog owners probably make up a goodly percentage of cafe patronage these days and leaving them in a car when travelling is just not on. But if you don't want our money that's OK, we'll just go somewhere that does offer that service.More

Lack of consistency with opening hours and menu. Often items on the menu feel like they've nipped across the road to New World to buy the base, cut bits off then add their own toppings or bits and bobs. Staff are grumpy and have a...can't be bothered attitude. Its over priced and all a bit shabby, don't botherMore

We came in and were greeted and seated by friendly staff, we were quickly attended to and when our food arrived we were delighted to receive generously portioned meals that were cooked to perfection and looked just as good as they tasted. Thoroughly enjoyed everything...we had here, love Dark Horse coffee! Thank you for an excellent brunch!More

We had a last-minute visit to Foxton with my elderly father today. We didn’t know it was the Big Dutch Day Out and the town was packed! We walked into the cafe - the staff were really friendly but told us there would be a...30-40 minute wait for menu orders. They helped me choose some cabinet food for my Dad who was tired and needed to eat and we got it fast. Our meals arrived a bit quicker than they said and were all really good - Turkish eggs for me, and steamed bao with fries for the others. Very tasty and generous servings!More

I’m a new local to Foxton( 3 years) and when I have guests and family to visit or stay we always go to Mrs Nubbs. The cafe is clean and chic and has a nice buzzy but not noisy atmosphere.Coffee great and of a Wellington...standard.The large outdoor covered seating area is relaxing and roomy and great if you have kids and need a bit more room to spread out!The food is always reliably tasty and served in generous portions. The menu is both modern in that it caters well to gluten/vegan options while at the same time offering delicious, classic , short order cafe fare from their fast and busy kitchen. They also have light counter food of scones and cakes/slices that change regularly so there’s always something new to try. In a small town you kind of have to aim to please locals as well as visitors and they do it with aplomb and real care for their customers. The last time I was there I asked for an off menu option and it was no problem whatsoever.Their staff are friendly and thoughtful and genuinely work hard to make your time there easy and enjoyable and relaxed. From what I have heard the owners of this cafe are hardworking and young yet highly experienced in the food industry and are passionate about it.It’s super to see young people returning to small towns to make a lifestyle choice of living and working and creating business and jobs within an existing peaceful village vibe. And I think they have made Mrs Nubbs a cool little village destination.Nice food.Nice staff.Nice vibe :)More

Went To Mrs Nubbs for lunch with friends. We were just wanting something from the cabinet not a meal. The only choice we had other than the menu was two different slices or cheese scones. Ordered a coffee and a cheese scone, The coffee was...warm not hot and the scone was very dry and doughy, even the very small portion of butter did not help As the owners of this Cafe also own two of the other cafes in the community its its frustrating they dont offer better service and options for their locals.More

This is a nice little café on the main street in Foxton. The coffee was reasonably good as was the cheese scone. Staff were friendly and service good. The café had a busy bustling atmosphere and we noted that the staff knew the names of...some of the customers - always a good sign in a café.More

The food was very good. However an order of eggs any style with no toast, but mushrooms, tomato and bacon Instead cost $26. This I feel is very expensive for a little cafe in Foxton.,

The decor looks lovely when first entering which sets you up for high expectations. Which are soon dashed as the customer service is very much lacking. When I said hi and asked for a menu the person at the bar handed me one with out...saying a word. We took a seat in the area out the back as it was more spacious with children and it was a warm day. The only tables on offer was a large one or a picnic table with a broken tattered flag that flapped in our faces. So we chose to sit at the end of the large table. We were served fine, the customer service while fine, wasn’t overly friendly. Our coffees came out and they tasted lovely. Then two of our meals came out. The waitress held them out and said, “I don’t know what these are, are they yours?” .... “umm well that looks like bacon and eggs and the other looks like avocado so yes we think those are ours” Then she bought out our last meal and said “it’s a meat thing I think.” Our meals were fine apart from my cauliflower was burnt black in some places. Oh and I forgot to add that the dying hydrangeas were an interesting touch to the centre piece. This place could be amazing if they worked on the customer service and a few little visual things. It’s got so much potential!More
