Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Six of us called in to buy a coffee at 2.30 to be told they were closing & we could only get take-away coffee. The cafe hours clearly stated they were open until 3. Several other potential customers were turned away

We had breakfast here, our meals were excellent, cooked and served with care, good size serving, service was fast and all staff friendly and helpful. The baking in the cabinet looked amazing, we would call back for a coffee and cake/slice or pastry anytime. A...pleasant outdoor space is available (child friendly).Cafe is a bright, pleasant place to sit, clean and gave us a pleasant start to our day. We wish these ladies all the best.More

Coffee is not bad, but food disappointing. I had corn and zucchini fritters which really was doughy pancakes with lots of corn and not much zucchini at all, bacon was hardly cooked. My friend had the chicken burger and where my food had hardly touched...the fry pan, her chicken was fried to crisp with outside batter very hard and hardly any chicken left inside. DisappointingMore

Stopped off in Foxton for late lunch after heavy traffic congestion had seen us make slower progress than we would have liked on our road trip. Cafe located in the midst of the main strip of shops. Looked clean and bright with what appeared to...be mainly local clientele. Usual range of fare. Young, friendly and enthusiastic serving staff made ordering at the counter relatively painless. Food was hearty country fare - never going to win any awards, but it was well-priced and set us up for the next stage of our road trip.More

Really enjoyed a quick brekky here. We had two bacon and egg pies and a BLT bagel. Lovely service, nice ambience and the food was fast to come, reasonably priced and most importantly, tasted good. A pleasant experience.

The whole experience was average, not bad, not great. Coffee was good. Pancakes had too much syrup and was advertised with raspberries but was only a raspberry sauce. Bacon wasn’t crispy enough. Friendly staff.

The food looks and smells amazing, the service was efficient. However the drinks were quite flat. 1 teabag in a big pot of tea. Clearly not a hot drink drinker.

An early morning hunt for breakfast led us to the Milky Whey cafe. The owner is a passionate advocate of quality coffee, and extremely knowledgeable. Our brekky was served fast hot and delicious, and at a good price. Highly recommend.

The lady owner do know how to make a 10/10 coffee! I had tried Latte before meal and then a Long Black after meal. Both coffee I rate them 10 out of 10. The coffee bean they use and the techniques the lady owner make...her coffee are absolutely beautiful. The food is very tasty as well. Love this cafe and well recommended to anyone visiting Foxton.More

The Milky Whey cafe, in the sleepy seaside town of Foxton, is a locally owned, friendly cafe where the owners like to prepare good quality wholesome and interesting food (pastries, wraps etc) as well as kiwi lunchtime standards such as sandwiches or scones. We went...on Valentines Day when she had prepared special cupcakes and also some superb merangues that tasted the old fashioned way - crisp on the outside with that bit of marshmellow chewiness on the inside - and only $1 each! The coffee is good. There are newspapers to read and friendly chat. The cafe is right in the centre of quite a few fascinating second hand and antique shops. Foxton is a nice stop if you are driving from Wellington northwards, or a regional jaunt from Palmerston North.More
