Excellent service, wide variety on the menu, it was difficult to choose. All extremely well prepared. Starters were larger than we are used to and sharing seems to be the normal thing to do. Wide range of locally produced wines. Excellent waitress.

We were staying at the hotel so we decided to eat at their restaurant one of our nights. The food was very good and so was the service. I had the bacalao. It was delicious. The place is very pretty. We recommend it if you're...staying here.More
Decidedly average Food seemed frozen and warmed up Beautiful dining room but food left a lot to be desired Reasonable wine list
This excellent hotel that was a convent of nuns in Peñafiel. Very nice remodeled, excellent rooms with very comfortable beds and pillows. Ver friendly staff.
We had the lunch menu and food was superb. We really enjoyed, it was very good quality money. Services was as well very good, considering we arrive a bit late. We will definitely come back and next time we want to stay as well in...the hotel. Highly recommended, so far our best meal here in the Valladolid province.More
Initial impression wasn’t great as receptionist was less than welcoming but this is a great place to stay. We’ve stayed at several similar in the area. After relaxing with drinks by the pool we wandered into town to experience the local atmosphere returning to the...hotel for a meal in the restaurant. The welcome was great, the food even better, a taste experience and great value washed down with a local bottle of Protos Crianza. Would definitely recommend.More
The restaurant was quite a great surprise in the hotel Excellent service, great menu, good prices The waiter was really trying to let us enjoy as much as possible the experience there. He brought us samples out of our choices, and offered us cop in...the internal patioMore
The Convento is a lovely place. Parking available. Rooms are nicely done. The resto is also worth visiting for dinner.
The restaurant is located in the Hotel Convento Las Claras. It is a nice building, and the restaurant is beside the cloister. We called in advance to reserve the speciality Lechazo (young lamb roast). Also we tried the grilled octopus as starter. Lechazo is very...filling, so we didn't order any more starters (we were 4). It was a pity, as all the starters looked amazing, we would have loved to try more. The waiting times were very small, but the fact that we had the Lechazo reserved (t takes hours to cook), helped. They have a nice wine selection as should be expected in Peñafiel, and the deserts were probably the worst of the menu, but still decent. Overall, it was a good experience, but if I go back to Peñafiel again, I might try any of the other "Asador" (some locals gave us some tips on their favourite ones), as I think you can get the same quality for a slightly cheaper price.More
We ate twice in this restaurant, the first night after a long drive..... The food was very good, a vegetarian could eat here quite happily, the wine delicious - the area is after all renowned for it's stunning wines. The service was rather slow the...first night, but we were also tired, so not too many black marks. Our second meal was absolutely delicious, couldn't be faulted........Yummy, and charming happy service.More
great, quit, clean, spotless, awesome front desk staff, great breakfast. definitely highly recommend
Most reviews of this restaurant are mixed in with the hotel in which it is based; Hotel Convento Las Claras. So for more reviews look there! My main course of Chuletilas de Lechazo was excellent and a very substantial portion indeed. I had a bottle...of Matarromera Crianza which is an excellent local wine but do try their own label wine which I hear is very good. Service was excellent as one may expect in a classy place like this. On the rainy night I visited, there were guests at only 5 tables in use. The experience would probably be even better with a close to full house as restaurant lacked 'buzz' being fairly large and on the stern side.More
We stayed at Las Claras for 2 nights while visiting wineries in Ribera del Duero. Whilst Penafiel is described as the centre of the wine region that is a purely geographical description, there is very little to see or do there ( other than the...castle) & Las Claras was an absolute haven. It is a beautiful old convent in the centre of town with lovely spacious rooms, a relaxing courtyard terrace with bar & snack bar & a garden with large clean pool & sunbeds. There is also a restaurant & spa although we didn't try them. It also had a secure gated car park although it was €5 per night & there was plenty of on street parking nearby. The price was very reasonable for the room & for food & drink in the bar & the staff were friendly. We would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.More
We sat in the walled garden, in the Sun. Small tapas and 2 glasses of wine. Excellent value. Lots of locals. Interior of the hotel looked interesting. Must be the best place in Penafiel.
We didn't stay at hotel, but ate at restaurant. We had salads and tapas. The salads were delicious, and the tapas did not disappoint. One of our dishes was roasted lamb bits, which were really good. We ate in their patio area, and believe we...got special treatment, as it seemed like they weren't really serving outside. So must give extra marks to the wonderful friendly staff.More
