We stopped here for a snack after making the drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy. After reading many reviews praising the carrot cake, we couldn't resist trying a piece. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside and enjoyed our tasty treat. Also enjoyed walking around the cafe and checking out the items for sale.

When you are this far out of town, it's great to find a nice coffee shop and cafe. We sat outside on the benches on the grass and enjoyed a very welcome latte, whilst admiring the scenery. The staff were friendly and very cheerful and we would happily go back.

Take the opportunity whilst in Queenstown to drive up one of the most scenic roads you will ever drive to Glenorchy and stop for coffee and cake at the Trading post. You will not be disappointed. The carrot cake was to die for, and the ginger slice was delicious. Glenorchy is beautiful and the scenery around completely stunning.

We have stopped in the trading post on our way to the Routeburn track. The spicy chocolate cake was amazing, I was told that it was baked at Kinloch lodge. I even e-mailed the lodge for the recipe - they said it was a secret recipe.. I guess that I will have to come back all the way from Israel... More

Friendly customer service, lovely teas and teapots along with freshly baked scones and pastries. Good for brekkie and brunch. They don't open for dinner though.

Despite the crowds, I am always made to feel welcome here. Great tea/coffee and baking. Consistently outperforms other similar places in Glenorchy.

This was such a cool little place. GREAT coffee, nice people, and really good souvenirs. Like, they obviously have very good taste in and awareness of design, because these souvenirs were better than I saw pretty much everywhere else in NZ. GOOD!

Small cafe and shop with fantastic coffee and the carrot cake is marvelous. Interesting selection of books. Great friendly service.

Really good coffee shop and gift shop. Carrot cake is amazing and they put a square of truffle on you coffee spoon, it's great.

Stopped in for some refreshments after a walk. A friendly place to spend some time in. The tea and toastie really hit the spot as both were very good, the tea was served in bone china cups and a bone china teapot. Recommended.
