Stopped for a quick lunch break on way to riding. Cute little place serving morning and afternoon tea and simple lunch option (ie. toasties). Service average, 20% surcharge for Good Friday seemed a bit steep making a pretty ordinary toastie over $8! Cakes looked very tasty though again, pretty steep in price. If we'd had time would probably have checked... More

Hi Taff, thanks for your review. On good Friday, staff are paid 2 and 1/2 times the hourly rate i.e min wage becomes $42.50 per hour. This is why a lot of restaurants and cafes choose to close on public holidays. Our toasties are all made with homemade bread and are served with award winning chutneys, our cakes made with... More

Stopped here for a coffee and cake on arrival in Glenorchy and it was very warm and welcoming. There were several options for cake ... all home made but the carrot cake was the winner. Staff were very friendly and helpful, also doubling as an information centre for the town and region.

Tiny little shop in Glenorchy towards the lake. Yummy scones with jam and cream plus nice cuppas and decent Chai lattes (they've been hard to find!). The lovely woman who worked there was friendly and efficient, working fast to serve the small - yet busy - cafe by herself. Nice spot.

Thank you for enjoying what we do here. Hope you find lovely Chai lattes wherever else you go on your travels. We use Goodness Chai a really good New Zealand brand of ethical Chai syrup. More

We stopped here for a snack after making the drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy. After reading many reviews praising the carrot cake, we couldn't resist trying a piece. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside and enjoyed our tasty treat. Also enjoyed walking around the cafe and checking out the items for sale.

When you are this far out of town, it's great to find a nice coffee shop and cafe. We sat outside on the benches on the grass and enjoyed a very welcome latte, whilst admiring the scenery. The staff were friendly and very cheerful and we would happily go back.

Take the opportunity whilst in Queenstown to drive up one of the most scenic roads you will ever drive to Glenorchy and stop for coffee and cake at the Trading post. You will not be disappointed. The carrot cake was to die for, and the ginger slice was delicious. Glenorchy is beautiful and the scenery around completely stunning.

We have stopped in the trading post on our way to the Routeburn track. The spicy chocolate cake was amazing, I was told that it was baked at Kinloch lodge. I even e-mailed the lodge for the recipe - they said it was a secret recipe.. I guess that I will have to come back all the way from Israel... More

Friendly customer service, lovely teas and teapots along with freshly baked scones and pastries. Good for brekkie and brunch. They don't open for dinner though.

Despite the crowds, I am always made to feel welcome here. Great tea/coffee and baking. Consistently outperforms other similar places in Glenorchy.
