We had reserved another hotel of which the Japanese name is similar to that of this hotel. The bus driver directed us to this hotel. As the hotels in this area are quite remote and the public transportation is not very convenient, the manager noticed...our situation and kindly arranged to drive us to our hotel complementarily. Thank you very much for the help of the manager. In view of the service provided to us who are not the guest of the hotel, the service of the hotel would not be bad. We will definitely stay in the hotel when we revisit Iyaosen. Thank you once again to the hotel.More
The restaurant is small and mainly caters for hotel guests. Food was prepared in traditional kaiseki way with attractive and colourful settings.
As we snake our way thru the valley with roads wide enough for 1 car, we finally reach the hotel. The first impression was good as the staff made his way outside to greet us just as I stopped right in front. Got 2 rooms....The first room comes with a nice bathtub overlook the opposite cliff which presents a wonderful and relaxing soak in the tub. The room also comes with a massage chair and a huge space for both of my kids. The 2nd room is smaller and just right for 2 adults (also comes with a small massage chair). The outdoor onsen is quite spectacular. We took the cable car right down to the riverside for access. However, don't expect the water to hot as other onsens, it's only warm (but enough). On the upside, you can really feel the minerals as you dip inside the onsen. As for the views and experience, I think this is the best onsen I've ever been to. There is also an indoor onsen which is opened 24 hours. The water here is hotter than the other one. As for the food, our 12 course dinner was accompanied by a nice traditional dance performance. They went the extra mile in providing my 2 years old a bowl of rice with some condiments without me asking - extra points there! Overall, the entire experience was wonderful!More
It was my girlfriend's first time in Japan, and her first time staying at an onsen ryokan. As we checked out, she told me that I had spoiled all other onsens for her, since they could not possibly be better. Our room was comfortable, always...replenished with snacks and tea, and had a beautiful view of the Iya Valley. Location is incredibly scenic, no one around for miles and you go down this cable car to the open-air bath (rotenburo). Food was very very good, not the absolute best I've had but no complaints for sure. Service was great, as it is everywhere in japan. Access is a bit tough without a car but by no means impossible--just requires some planning.More
I stayed in an inn in a land of mystery and Sodani hot spring! An outdoor hotspring bath is the wonderful location which comes down to 250m bottom of the valley by cable car! The outdoor hotspring bath was best! A Chinese tourist was besides...the Japanese, too.More
