Our second home

Gouthe is one of the very hidden gems in Canggu that probably gets missed out too many times. To our luck we are spending our months in Canggu jut around the corner of the restaurant, so we luckily gave it a shot soon anough. Gouthe became our second home and we are spending basically every morning here for breakfast. From all the coulinary spoiling Canggu has to offer this one found a biggest place in our hearts. It’ just so surreal to me that I after traveling to 50+ countries including most of Europe I am experiencing the best French cooking has to offer in the middle of Asia. The food standards here are no joke and don’t let the affordable pricing fool you. There is no room for error, the standards are set very high by artisan european chefs and the plates like the breakfast egg skillets, Platter Jean, Ivy and authentic huge french toasts are just amazing. Desserts and home baked bread quality is also something that’s very hard to find in Asia. But what makes us love this place even more than the food itself is a very unique, quirky vibe they managed to set up in the open kitchen. It’s super satisfactory to just observe the chefs and team here play around in the kitchen in harmony, prepare amazing artisan food and feeling genuinely happy when doing so. It’s the ratatouille movie vibes all over, along with super homely interior, thoughtful presentation, oversized cuttlery and mugs together with very warm careness and hospitality. Please don’t get disturbed by the near proximity of a busy road next to the restaurant - it’s the ONLY downside of this place. It just feels good to spend mornings here and gaze at the rice field across the road. Dont’ miss it.

Absolutely worth a visit!

What a lovely place. The food, service, and atmosphere were each and all lovely. The menu is simple and compelling. The pricing is reasonable. I wanted to try everything! Settled on the grilled octopus that came with an array of wonderful homemade dips and two delicious sides. Fabulous! The dishes served to others around me for sure will bring me back, as too want to sample myself! Kudos to the team for such a wonderfully comfortable ambiance backed by great food! *Only one additional comment for the team, that is important to share but that I would not want to distract from the overall strongly favorable impression. My dish came with two equally sized pieces of octopus... the tentacle was exquisite - perfectly cooked and as I good as I have had anywhere in the world, truly. Kudos! The second piece was the body... and it was dry, rubbery, and nearly inedible. QC.

French vibe in Bali

One of the hidden gems in Bali in a rustic french style. Absolutely love the ambiance and of course the food as well. We tried a big salad and THE PRESS. Everything is prepared in the open kitchen just in front of you which is really nice addition to the whole atmosphere.

Super overpriced for its quality

Met friends for lunch here, never heard of this place before so no expectation, but frankly even if I did I would have probably come anyways, which is why I feel like I need to write this review. Service: Self service, which I’m fine with so not deducting point based on that Food: Three of us ordered three different things, one thing in common THEY’RE ALL BLAND as if they were all boiled and then covered in sauces (which also don’t taste except for the ketchup, completely mind blown). Beans were over cooked. How they charge such high price in Bali for this quality of food is beyond me. Drinks: 35k for a coconut that’s not even cold (and they don’t mention that) it’s more expensive than much nicer restaurants. I suspect it’s just a strategy just so you go for other even more marked up drinks. Environment: Rustic style, nothing special about it. Overall: DO NOT GO THERE (unless you don’t mind seasoning your own food and overpay)

Nice food interesting menu

Really nice little Warung. Interesting menu and not expensive. They bake their own bread right on site so it’s all really fresh and smells amazing. There’s a lot of things on the menu you wouldn’t know what was what until you look around and see what’s in front of people. Great place.

Over the alternative… to the scruffy

a menu that looks great when read on the wall (there isn't even a card and waiter to explain it) but in reality very bland inconsistent and presented very badly (fruit salad like e crumble eggs or sandwich without any taste etc ) I had already been there other times before the pandemic and everything was better and more cared for if also always in the Spartan and homely style. the only interesting breakfast with bread made by them and different jams and butter has been canceled from the menu. each dish has extra costs if you want a side dish or bread etc. overall the limit between the "funny and innovative" and the scruffy they passed a lot! water from the bin dripping on the ground, cobwebs and dust everywhere, doormat at the entrance that raises dirt at every step ... unfortunately indecorous.

There's always room for improvement

Place: we went there at night, but when you come in the daytime, you'll see rice paddies just across the road. Well, expect to see many vehicles pass though. It's right beside a busy road. The warung itself is pretty. Dominated by wood elements and not too spacious but breezy since it's an open area. Food: menu is quite confusing. And the price is a lil bit higher than average Bali cafe. But the taste is amazing! I ordered Mushroom Latte (turns out it's a mushroom cream soup without any physical mushroom to be seen inside it). So fragrant! It comes with a small block of bread. It can be an option when you visit canggu/berawa area though

If you're looking for a place with great food and a cozy, homey feel, this restaurant in Canggu is a must-visit

Wr recently dined at the charming Warung restaurant in Canggu and had the pleasure of tasting their grilled octopus and beef sandwich. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The octopus was perfectly grilled, tender, and flavorful, while the beef sandwich was hearty and packed with savory goodness. The ambiance of the place added to the experience. It had a rustic charm that took me back to my grandmother's place in the country, creating a warm and nostalgic atmosphere.

What a phenomenal taste sensation!

We stopped over for lunch and fell in love with the food, the vibe and everything in between. The Ivy was the most delicious breakfast I have had in a long time, all the flavour sensations worked perfectly you in harmony. We’ll definitely be back for more.

Decorated for Christmas

My partner had a brochette, and really enjoyed it. I had a panini, it was pretty average. Not a traditional warung in any way. But it is popular. It was decorated for Christmas. That was a nice touch because not many places in Bali are decorated.

Tasty food in a beautiful place

I went to Warung Goûthe with some friends of mine. I love the outdoor seating area and the food. I have been there many times already and highly recommend to try this place. The food is just delicious

This is one “must visit” - delicious food, nice atmosphere and you have to try the octopus with peanut coco sauce. If you experience also the brioche coming out of the oven, you can think you are in heaven.
