Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The pot of mussels for 2 were really tasty but came with very small portion of bread (barely enough for 1). We asked for a little bit more but were charged for a side of bread. Felt a bit hard nosed. Also the pot of...tea for 2 was a small pot with one teabag. Did 2 small cups of tea. A real pity this was the attitude.More

Lovely surprise find and we’re accomodating to still keep the kitchen open for our order at 730. Extensive menu that wasn’t just mussels with an Italian influence. We however only tried several GSM mussel dishes with a variety of flavours. Enjoyed all the dishes and...can also recommend the desserts Great service and ambience. Our Italian waitress was outstanding (sorry we didn’t get your name )More

What a wonderful place to have lunch. We had trouble deciding what to have but ended up with grilled mussels.

We just did a drive into town and given mussels are the specialty we stopped by here to try; both the mussels and service was amazing as I tried a lot of mussels with the local Sauvignon Blanc. Highly recommend this place

This restaurant still a consistent performer, they do seafood beautifully and have over the last year added a fantastic selection of authentic Italian fare. We regularly dine here for the wonderful seafood, excellent variety on the menu, a well curated wine selection (love love the...Charles Wiffen chard!) the ambience, and the consistently impeccable service. The freshness of the seafood has to be tasted to be believed.More

Easy to find. Great service seated in a sunny clean courtyard. The international staff serving were professional and friendly. The food arrived quickly and was fresh and well presented. Very clean bathrooms too.

Finally had the pleasure of visiting this iconic restaurant! Always driven past, and today made it our destination. Tables outside in the sun were busy, service excellent. The Mussel platter for 2 had mussels cooked 8 ways and each was divine. Each flavour better than...the last. Most definitely worth a visit. Green lipped mussels should be New Zealand’s National dish.More

This restaurant is an absolute must do if you are in the green mussel capital of the world - Havelock. We have 5 and 7 year old sons and the staff were warm, accommodating and made us feel extremely welcome. TIPS FOR TRAVELLERS: 1. The...'Mussel Taster' as a starter is the best way to determine which style of mussel you wish to choose for your main. We preferred this method rather than getting the platter for two as the main. 2. Highly recommend the 'Grilled mussel mix' and Coriander, ginger, chilli, and coconut cream steamed mussel 1kg pot. 3. The blue cheese, cream & parsley steamed mussels were good but not the same calibre as the above in our opinion (but we had to try them as we are both blue cheese fanatics). 4. There is a kids menu as well. So no need to be put off if your children don't eat seafood. Highly recommend.More

We had been looking forward to this experience for a long time. It was such a dissapointment! Outsideservice was not possible as the staff was afraid of wasps. We sat indoors - waited a long time for service. We felt like we were a nuisance!...Would not come back!More

We stopped here for lunch and while we both like Mussels we were not in the mood for them at the time and opted to have Fish & Chips and Spaghetti All’amatricianaels, Both meals were very tasty. Hot day and had a shady seat outdoors....They were very busy which i can only guess led to a long wait until our order was originally taken. All good otherwise.More

Great setting, really helpful knowledgable staff and you have to try the four ways mussels to start, steamed, grilled, smoked and battered, beautiful. I then had the Thai coconut curry steamed mussels just brilliant
