Passing through the glorious Plaça Catalunya, you enter the newer city district of Eixample, literally translated as “extension,” which immediately becomes recognisable by its more spacious streets and elegant atmosphere. The main artery of this sizable district, Passeig de Gracia, is lined with high-end international designer stores. Not to be outdone, the glitz and glamour of this zone is perhaps best exemplified by the comfortable and lavish five-star hotels that flank the divine and modernistic buildings from some of the world’s most recognised architects such as Gaudi and Montaner.
This weirdly wonderful experience of Gaudi's inspiration is a Barcelona must. Consider carefully your choice at beginning of tour as to taking elevator to top (where tour begins) or climbing stairs. Staircases are much more challenging than one would expect. The roof and upper level are the main tour highlights.
This building is next to and overshadowed by Casa Batlló. It was designed by a famous Catalan architect, Josep Puig i Cadafalch and built in 1900 for a chocolatier Antoni Amatller.
It was designed in Modernism style but inside there is a mixture of Gothic and other style. The English guided tour (lasting around 1 hour) gives you a detailed...
Beautiful old building with the oddest collection of things. Shops sell everything from jewellery to clothing to knickknacks to food. Some pretty amazing art throughout the galleria. worth a look and a couple of hours just to make you smile!
"By very (very!) far our best experience in Barcelona"

We came based on the excellent TripAdvisor rating and by god, we were not disappointed! The food here is pure love and for being so highly ranked in this metropole, still very moderately priced (please keep it this way). It’s a pity this is our last day in Barcelona this time, because otherwise we would have come back! Sooooooo good!
We were only able to get lunch reservations, but that made no difference - the food was spectacular. It was a special occasion - my boyfriend's bday - and I believe his words were "this is the best meal I've ever had". Every single course was perfect. I believe they've moved to a new location since we were there, but...
Had been to Barcelona multiple times, but chose this new hotel this time. Ultra modern room with many extras including a view out the window of a Gaudi home. Staff friendly and helpful. Recommended a great local tapa/bar. In central Barcelona, a short 15 minute walk to La Rambla. Try this hotel and have a great stay in Barcelona.
Myself and my husband have just spent 3 nights at The One as a surprise for my 50th and wow what an amazing hotel. When we arrived it was raining so before I even had chance to get out of the taxi one of the hotel staff greeted us with an umbrella. Check in was quick and efficient with extremely...
We were only able to stay at the hotel for one night because of a flight home after a cruise. We would definitely recomend this property as 5 star. We were upgraded to a suite and received wonderful service from reception and the conceigere. The restaurant in the back of the lobby was very good . Wish we could have...
