We were in the Northland and heading back to Auckland when we decided to stop off at Waipu Caves Farm Park. I had read they had a 1 hour tour of a Glow Worm Cave, the tour is called the Milky Way Glow Worm Cave tour. The tour was great. A pleasant, short walk to the cave. The cave it's self was made very accessible. So what exactly is a Glow Worm. You will know and experience them. JJ, our tour guide, gave good information about the history of the rock formations that made up the cave and happily answered any question you had. The price was very reasonable compared to many Glow Worm tours I saw online. I'd highly recommend this tour.
    excellent, thanks for the review.

Very inviting environment with well kept entrance, the goats at the office are adorable too. Ian and his wife were great hosts and you can really tell they love what they do. The tour through the cave was really amazing and again, well kept and as untouched as possible. Much better than the free roam caves by far, this is worth your money, if you’re planning to camp there or even stop in as you’re making your way further north. Would go back for sure. Thank you

Wow. A wonderful family experience. Our guide ( I think her name was Karina) was excellent, very informative, coped well with pre schoolers turning lights on at wrong time. The work that the Fox family has done to provide a great caving experience is awesome. The 320 acres are beautiful, even seeing kauri trees and so peaceful. We had a picnic there after our walk. All 12 of us from 1 year old to 70’s had a great time. An amazing place to safely bring overseas family and tourist to.
Thanks very much for the review. came back soon with the family.

Very good tour of amazing caves and stalactites. Learned lots about the history and geology of the area. The glow worms were fantastic - wasn’t expecting them to be so good. Their webs lit by the laser are gorgeous. Looked like something Disney might have created! Worth the price as the owners have clearly put in so much work to make the cave accessible and safe to visit without the need to wade through water - as you have to do in the publicly accessible caves down the road. Highly recommend.

The caves are spectacular and the glow worms are a treat. The accessibility and layout in the cave is amazing and of top quality with stainless steel railings and concrete walkways. The walk to and from the cave is uniquely beautiful. We will definitely go back to do a trail or two. Also, looking forward to returning to do the 3km cave tour once it’s completed and accessible to the public. Thanks for a great day.
so pleased you loved the tour and the walkway.

Visited Waipu caves (Milky Way Caves) & found this to be a fascinating & very interesting tour. Ian the owner gave us the guided tour, which was extremely informative. The stalactite’s & stalagmites were absolutely fantastic, as were the actual glow worms. Worth every penny to see. It was a down to earth tour, please don’t change it.
    thanks, stephen.

Had a great guided tour of the Milky way glow worm caves. Initially I thought it was a bit pricey, but it was worth every penny. Went with my 13 and 17 yr. old. This takes approx. an hour, incudes a short walk-through woodland with history of limestone in the area, then descend into cave on an even purpose-built path throughout. You're up close to the cave walls at times and travel about 150m in, but never feel claustrophobic. You get to learn a lot about the live cave and its glowworms and then see them in all their glory when you dim the torches down. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to returning to the park in the future to explore the walking tracks, climbing, camping and further cave explorations you have plans to develop. Thankyou!

We had an amazing time here and would well recommend. We were lucky enough to have a private tour with Jade who was engaging and down to earth. Her information was very well judged and the layout of the cave walk was very well designed. All the staff were welcoming and we had a great experience while learning lots.

This was an enjoyable outing one hour outing with eight people in our group from New Zealand, Holland & Germany. Our guide did a great job of taking us through the caves and had good knowledge. The pathway in the cave was very safe, with a concrete path and stainless handrails throughout. A word of warning. Drive carefully on the short gravel road to the caves. We did see an accident possibly caused by loose gravel and going to fast!

My son and I both have mobility issues and this is the reason we chose to go to this venue. The staff could not have been more helpful and the experience particularly for my son was amazing, they were knowledgeable, informative and very experienced. We saw more glow worms than I expected and the caves were very well managed with great hand rails and paths to ensure a safe and secure experience, at the same time as being authentic.
Thanks, we are very pleased to be able to share this spectacle of nature.
