A big thank you to Anna for making our flying visit to National Park so worthwhile. We only had half a day to visit Whakapapa Village before our onward connection. The forecast was so bad they couldn't even take their usual clients to hike the Tongariro Crossing, but put on a half day shuttle just for us. Gave us great advice on which way round to take the Taranaki Falls loop for the weather conditions, which were perfect in the end.

We quite enjoyed the whole hike. It can be quite challenging though, if you’re not at least moderately fit. Weather wasn’t too bad so we managed to take some nice photos. The shuttle driver was so lovely and made sure we were all ready for the hike :)

Excellent, challenging but worth the time and effort. Group leaders looked after everyone and gave extra support when needed. Weather was cloudy to start but once we got going the sun came out and the views were fantastic. Adrift Tongariro are very professional company and I highly recommend them if you want a guided tour.

We booked the shuttle two days before at 07:15 in the morning. The bus arrived on time and took us to the start of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Before getting off, we were given the final information and safety instructions. The bus is a bit outdated but sufficient for the transfer. After completing the hike, we took the first bus back at 13:30 in the afternoon, the bus arrived on time and everything went smoothly.

Good transport service. The shuttle was on time both ways. Driver gave us information about what to expect on the walk. From a safety perspective, they checked to ensure everyone who went out to the track in the morning did come back on one of the return trips at the end. The crossing itself was wonderful, everything I had hoped for.

With all the different shuttle companies, these guys were perfect for a solo traveller! I booked 2 days beforehand. The shuttle pick up was easy to find (got on at the park and ride) and were dropped off right at the beginning of the Crossing. The coach driver was amazing and lovely! He gave us a bit of information about the crossing and told us the pick up times at the other end. For those mentioning about the bus ... It's a typical old school bus, nothing fancy but gets you from A to B. Pick up was right at the end so there was no stressing or getting lost! Thank you guys!

Very helpful Anna and staff about available buses while we stayed at National Park village without a car. Booked tickets in person at the Youth Hostel. Email confirmation.Used the shuttle service for return trip to Whakapapa on day one and was notified the night before about change in 8am bus so all good. Great little service to village return with plenty of time to walk to Upper Tama lakes, 5.5hrs Cost $50 each, pricey but similar to a taxi really. Day 2 Tongariro Alpine Crossing booked, $55. Picked up ok, pretty full old bus, no seat belts. Good briefing about the crossing in general and afternoon pickup was great, Bus was there just waiting for 3pm walkers, making sure nobody about to miss it, name checked off to ensure off mountain. Not knowing the mountain, I was a bit concerned I wouldn't make the last bus at 5.30pm but all was fine at a good steady pace in good weather and completed in <7hrs

The shuttle services were good - both from National Park Village to Tongaririo Visitor Center and back. They send out clear confirmation emails for the shuttle services you have booked and if the shuttle is getting delayed for some reason (my 8 AM shuttle was delayed to 8.30 AM), they are quite good at letting you know about the delay via email in advance. I used the 8 AM shuttle to Tongaririo Visitor Center and 12.30 PM return shuttle and the total cost was $50.

It was very easy to book this shuttle. The driver was very nice an funny. Unfortunately i had to wait 3h for my shuttle when i finished the crossing. It only took me 4,5h and the first shuttle comes at 1:45 pm. Keep that in mind if you’re a fast hiker like me.

The shuttle service was 100%. Easy booking, punctual departure and we would like to thank you again that the last shuttle was waiting for us. We were only there at 5:45 p.m., despite the fact that we hurried down the descent. The descent is extremely long, even though the path is mostly easy (filled with lots of stairs, some smaller climbs), but due to the effort beforehand, the energy batteries are already at their limit. But the experienced ones jog the way there. So it really depends on your fitness level and what you personally bring with you. As experienced users, it took us almost 2 hours without a break from the last toilet to the pick-up point instead of the stated 1.5 hours. Conclusion: for us it was the greatest hike ever. The diversity and uniqueness of the landscape and the views in the fantastic weather on February 1st make up for all the efforts.
