We only walked to the jetty as had done a long walk elsewhere We arrived around lunchtime so there was a breeze which affected the water on the lake so no mirror effect. But it didn’t spoil it got us lovely walk and so peaceful at the jetty as it was just the 2 of us Not the widest of tracks but fine to pass single file although many people seem to struggle with this concept! You can walk round the lake we didn’t Great cafe and gift shop on way out which was lovely As you leave take the drive to glacier view point you get a great view of fox glacier without the hike !

We started this in the morning before 9 to get best out of the reflections before the breeze picked up. Kids aged 6 to 12 did this easy enough. There's a steep set of stairs at one point to get to the view of views but we thought it was worth it.

Sadly it was musty during our visit Di we couldn’t see Mount Cook or Mount Tasman or capture that elusive ‘mirror’ photo of them reflected in the lake. However it’s a nice walk around anyway. A bit up and down - takes about an hour. Great cafe and gift shop near the car park. Free parking and entry.

We did the short walk to-the first viewpoint and got fab pics of the mirror lake. Easy walk, did pass someone pushing a wheelchair would have been difficult terrain. Bonus was getting great view of fox glacier which best lookout apot is on the way.
