    Sleepy Hollow Author’s Ridge
Hopefully you will be able to park in one of the three spots and follow the sign up the stairs to scenic Author’s Ridge! Love that they all share this inspiring space in the cemetery! Thoreau and Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Louisa May Alcott and her family! Visitors like to leave pencils and plastic pens (which I wish they could refrain from the plastic pens!) Their headstones are modest but their collective literary legacy lives on!

    You must visit Author's Ridge
This is a beautiful and well-cared for cemetery, but the highlight is Authors Ridge. It's a bit of a hike, but among those buried there are Thoreau and family; Nathaniel Hawthorne and family, The Alcotts and Emerson and family. There are also other sites, like the author of The Five Little Peppers and How They Grew. Marvelous photo ops, too!

    Steep but short walk
It's amazing that so many authors knew each other in this town and are buried in the same small area. Emerson and family are a bit further from the small parking area but easily found. The route to Author's Ridge is well marked and at the highest point so easy to find. People have left pencils as tribute to Alcott and Thoreau.

    Visit early in the morning!
You couldn't go to Sleepy Hollow without visiting the cemetery! Maps provided near the entrances so finding things was easy. Tip: get up EARLY (Get there when the gates open) to visit the bridge, Bronze Lady, etc. without crowds.
