A local favorite, construction on this covered bridge began in the Year of the Monkey (1593) and was finished in the Year of the Dog (1595), hence the monkey and dog sculptures at either end.

Had a hard time locating it….
I had difficult time locating this covered bridge due its restoration projet going on. I passed it several times, not realizing it was the bridge that I was looking for. Noted some diggings on under this bridge, no signs when this proect would be completed. Took several pictures here before moving to my next attractions to visit.

    Beautiful in the brochures!
One of the tourist attractions is the Japanese bridge over the Thu Bon river, which at the time connected the western Japanese district with the Chinese district in the old center. It was built in 1593 as a covered bridge. In 1719, a Vietnamese temple was built on the northern part of the bridge. During our visit she was completely dismantled for thorough restoration. So we will have to make do with a photo on the yard fence or the internet.

Remnants of a Japanese town in the 16th and 17th centuries
The visit came in the month after a year-and-a-half of restoration work that Japan also cooperated with. The buildings turned white overall, and the river, which looked like a slush, was cleaned. However, the sense of heaviness that had been felt until now has disappeared. Etiquette is the best way to buy tickets to Hoi An City to combat overtourism. Many day-trippers and individual customers are also making it difficult to pay for the service. Source of funds for restoration work and morning cleaning. As a Kyoto resident, I don't think the issue of overtourism is a stranger.

    A beautiful synthesis of cultures!
A well-preserved monument and expression of multiple cultures. Inside a Chinese temple welcomes passers-by who are greeted by two states of monkeys, on the one hand, and dogs, on the other. Appreciate it during the day with sunlight, but especially in the evening, perfectly illuminated.

The Bridge of Love of Hoi An
This bridge with hundreds of years of history of romantic and emotional tones becomes even more romantic in the evening. The photos taken under a lighthouse were the best memories. I also heard the monkey statue on both sides of the legends. We spent a special time in Hoi An's iconic place.

    Hoi An's Japanese Bridge
The Japanese Covered Bridge in Hoi An was a charming find. We enjoyed the quiet beauty and historical significance. It's a bit out of the way, but worth the walk. The bridge's architecture is unique, and it's a great spot for a peaceful moment together.

    Hoi Ann Ancient Town
Hoi An Ancient Town is a captivating destination with its charming streets lined with yellow-hued buildings and a rich blend of history and culture. The town's unique atmosphere, with lanterns illuminating the night and vibrant markets, makes it feel like stepping back in time. The food, local crafts, and friendly people add to the experience. I loved every moment of my visit and will definitely return one day. Highly recommended!
