We got off the Hop on hop off Bus right at the Gate where there is a Booth selling Tickets . The Tickets were 40000 Dong (AUD$ 2-40) It was very Busy with lots of people . We decided to have a look at the Various Tanks and other Armoured Vehicles and a number of Aircraft & American Fighter Jets . Very interesting . Then the Rain started and we made a dash for the Main Building . It is possible to spend a whole Day in here , This Museum makes a very Sombre Statement . It gives a very moving insight into the American War as well as the French occupation of Vietnam . All visitors to Saigon should come here to see for them selves . A down side to the Museum is the lack of Aircon & also the Stairs to the Upper floors are a Killer . We are both in our 70s , so we didn't go higher than the 2nd Floor . We were probably here for around 2 hours .

Solid museum - 3 floors with themed exhibits, in addition to a number of American military vehicles and Tiger Cage exhibit outside. Audio guide is extensive and for an extra 80,000 VND - worth it. Good bathrooms. Elevator available for mobility issues. Unfortunately at the moment their aircon is out and, despite many fans, it's sweltering. Take water.

The aging museum (unfortunately) shows very clearly who the victims of the wars were and are. Various war machines are on display outside. Inside, the history of the French period and the conflict with the USA are presented very vividly on three floors in various mostly unair-conditioned rooms. There are elevators and toilets inside the building. Audio guides were not available in German. At the time we were there, admission cost 40,000 VND per person and could ONLY be paid in CASH. There is also a small café inside.

The exhibits, filled with photographs, artifacts, and detailed narratives, are impactful and often emotionally challenging. While it can be a heavy experience, the museum does an excellent job of presenting multiple perspectives on the conflict. It’s a must-visit for anyone interested in understanding Vietnam’s past and its resilience. I’d recommend giving yourself time to reflect after your visit – it’s an eye-opening journey you won’t forget.

Extremely interesting museum, a must do when in Ho Chi Minh. Airplanes, tanks, items, the reconstruction of inmate conditions and means of torture, plus a photography exhibition with gorgeous pictures. Terrible historical events, great documentation. Exhibition on 3 floors, could see no lift. On the ground floor: lockers, a cafè and two small souvenir shops. No air conditioning (otherwise my visit would have taken even longer!). Plan about 2 hours, for photography enthusiasts 2,5-3 hours. Cost: for an adult 40.000 VND, with audioguide 120.000 VND.

An extraordinary compilation of photographs and insights into the Vietnam War, including its historical context and lasting impact. Requiem stands out as the most powerful museum exhibit I’ve encountered, featuring striking film images captured during the conflict that moved me to tears with their haunting detail and poignant narratives. Some of the visuals are intensely raw and may be unsettling. I suggest dedicating a few hours to fully explore the exhibit, as it spans three floors and includes additional displays outdoors. Truly a profound and unforgettable experience.

The War Remnants Museum in Vietnam offers a deeply moving and educational experience with its comprehensive exhibits on the Vietnam War and its aftermath. The content is well-curated and thought-provoking, providing valuable insight into a significant period of history. However, the lack of air conditioning is a major drawback, especially considering the tropical climate. Visitors often find it unbearable to stay in the indoor sections for more than 5-10 minutes, which detracts from the overall experience. For a museum of such national and historical significance, improving the facilities should be a priority for the Vietnam Government.

War remnant museum is the one of places where you can learn about historical events and real witness in Ho Chi Minh city. These weapon, clothing and photographs reflect the true facts of Vietnam wars. During visiting, I really shocked by images of persons who are the victims of Agent Orange when I saw in the lobby. I think this educational tour will give everyone unforgettable emotions. Besides, it is equipped with modern facilities that make your visiting more convenient. In all, War Remnants Museum is an excellent site for learning about Vietnam. I highly recommend this place for anybody who want to explore more about Vietnamese culture and history.

The outside area is interesting with the planes and tanks used, similar to UK war museums but the interior changes tone drastically… extremely powerful imagery and artefacts with real stories and quotes. My only complaint is that the contents is very one sided, its mostly about american tools and photography, aswell as the anti-war story in the states. It would have been made better with more information on the viet cong and giving a more full picture on all the factions involved however this is to be expected in this country. Heavily recommended to all western travellers but do not bring children!

We visited on a Tuesday morning - less crowded than expected. The military equipment outside (tanks, helicopters) was interesting, though some looked weathered. Inside, the photo exhibits were intense and quite emotional - definitely not for sensitive viewers. Takes about 2 hours to see everything. Some displays could use better English translations. The Agent Orange exhibition hit particularly hard. Not your typical tourist spot, but important for understanding Vietnam's history.
