    Well done!
The museum is excellently done, the visuals, audios, sound effects, videos, stories are a top notched. I love the contrast of coming out from the battle of Pounamu to the tranquil village, just make you appreciate more of the presence. Staff are amazing and friendly as well!
Kia ora, e pupuhi atu nei te hau o mihi ki a koe - thank you very much for your beautiful review. We would love to see you again.

Excellent start but needs to be developed
We had been looking forward to visiting the new Pounamu Pathways Centre and were not disappointed. The exhibits were superb especially the Maori Village and the recounting of iwi conflicts on the West Coast were informative. However, three areas could be improved. First the gift shop sorely needs some literature, not only about pounamu but also about iwi conflicts over pounamu in the South Island. Second, the layout was a little confusing as it was not immediately clear about the best way to move around the Centre when you arrive. Perhaps a simple pamphlet which also outlined the role of the centre would be helpful. Third, entry fees were expensive. We had booked beforehand only to find that it would have been much cheaper had we come later when the fees were lower. This needs to be clarified on the website. Overall an excellent experience but one that could be even better!
Thank you for sharing your experience with us here at Pounamu Pathway. We will take your valuable feedback on board. Ngā mihi maioha

    Pounamu pathway
Thana was an amazing guide. With not being Māori herself I feel her passion, true love and interest for Nz’s culture was evident through her story telling and welcome. Would love to see more Māori faces within these Māori establishments but Kia Rawe Pounamu Pathway! It was a highlight for sure.

    Definitely Do this!
Unmissable! This was an absorbing place, with fabulous exhibits. Wonderful. The only suggestion I'd have about it is to put advertising on the outside which actually tells people what it is, and what they'll experience inside e.g. 'Weta Workshop - an historic experience. Wander through the history of pounamu in Aotearoa'
Thank you so much for your wonderful review & feedback! We will be sure to implement this suggestion in the future.

    Must do while in Greymouth.
Came with my mother and was greeted by the friendly staff right away. I did not have much prior knowledge about the history of pounamu prior to my visit so i enjoyed the interactive displays and the theatre rooms telling the stories of the local iwi. The highlight was the realistic model done by weta workshop. This attraction is a real highlight for Māwhera and i would recommend a vist if your ever in the area.
Ngā mihi for your wonderful review! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your visit & loved hosting you!

Like many others we arrived in Greymouth on the TranzAlpine and were looking for things to do before departing the following afternoon. We were the only ones viewing the pounamu pathway display for a while - very surprising as it's just amazing. So informative with the story of Ngā Tahu vividly told. It far surpassed our expectations.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are so glad you enjoyed your visit & hope to host you again one day!

    Pounamu Pathway visit
Really interesting & immersive exhibition. Definitely worth reading the information and watching/listening to the stories. Staff were very enthusiastic & knowledgeable about the exhibition, willing to answer our questions. Price is a little high, but understand it's part of group along the west coast worth going too.
Kia ora, thank you for your wonderful review & feedback! We loved hosting you!

Great experience - highly recommend for anyone new to the region
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibit. Great to see a proud representation of the tangata whenua (in a way that Shantytown tried but never could as well). Our children and there mates aged 12-14 were less engaged. Some more interactivity for younger visitors would be great.
Tēnā koe - thank you for your review! We are so glad to hear you & your wife enjoyed your visit. Thank you for your feedback - we hope to implement ways of maximizing engagement for all visitors in the future!

    An amazing experience
Pounamu Pathways is an absolute gem in Greymouth! The experience was nothing short of amazing, taking us on a fascinating journey through the rich history and cultural significance of Pounamu (Greenstone) on the West Coast of New Zealand. The exhibits were beautifully curated, blending storytelling, history, and hands-on elements that brought the legacy of this precious stone to life. The interactive displays and engaging presentations made it a truly immersive experience for all ages. It was inspiring to lhear about the importance of Pounamu to and its deep connection to the region. If you're in Greymouth or the West Coast, I highly recommend visiting Pounamu Pathways. It's an unforgettable experience that will leave you with a deeper appreciation for Aotearoa/New Zealand’s heritage. Don’t miss it!
Kia ora, thank you so much for your detailed review! We are thrilled to hear you loved our Māwhera Pā as much as we do. We hope to host you again one day, e hoa!

    Stories and history well told.
Supremely well done. Well worth the one hour and 10 minutes we spent there. The stories of settlement and conquest are well done as is the discovery and use of pounamu. The impact that colonisation had on Māori communities is well told with the generosity of spirit of mana whenua shining through.
Kia ora Jocelyn, thank you for your wonderful review! We are thrilled you enjoyed your time at our Māwhera Pā. We hope to host you again one day, e hoa!
