    beautiful bookstore
beautiful place, wonderful books, a must visit for every bookworm. I recommend gold tickets, the price includes a book and you get ahead of everyone in line. definitely the first entrance, later the number of people only increases

    Fascinating and evocative bookshop!
Fascinating place to absolutely visit if you are in Porto. I recommend booking tickets in advance with a book included (it's a nice souvenir to take away with you) as it is always very crowded and the queue outside is very long. I recommend going early in the morning as soon as it opens!

    Expensive
It takes quite some effort to visit - book online (recommended as the queues are long), wait in the queue, enter with stacks of other people, shuffle your way around and escape 10 minutes later. It is a beautiful shop and probably a must if you are a big Potter fan. Entry is 8 euro which you can put towards a book. Couldn't find a book cheaper than 16 euros. It's expensive to go in and knowing what I now know I wouldn't have bothered.

    Beautiful but jammed
Book your ticket in advance. It will cost €8 however if you choose to purchase a book there they will discount it by €8. This place is a victim of its own success. A simply stunning building, beautiful books and very well organised by staff however due to its popularity it’s gets jammed because of people taking selfies on the narrow stairs. I would recommend implementing a one-way system so that everyone can move and see all corners of the shop.

Beautiful visit for book and architecture lovers
The Lello bookstore promises to be the most beautiful bookstore in Portugal and was on the list of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen. Very photogenic too. I visited with my 8 month old baby and therefore we didn't need to queue (due to priority). But I saw that the queues are long… so be patient. Unlike other bookstores (which are free), Lello charges 8 euros to enter. Each ticket allows you to reduce the entry fee for one book, that is… if there are 3 people, you can reduce 3 books but not add the 24 euros and buy a work. This point sometimes surprises people, but I was clear. The books cost no less than 18 euros, so be prepared to spend at least 10 euros. But that's not much for reading lovers. *Lello books are not cheap, so don't go if you want to buy books... we were served by Virgínia, who demonstrated her love for the bookstore and reading right from the beginning. A grace and friendliness! He helped us choose (in the scarce children's session) a special book for our baby. The work (Eva, the girl who dared to imagine) takes place in Lello and is from the publisher itself. Super special! So, if you are going to buy books there, it should be something unique like that. The staircases are really impressive, as is the stained glass. The legend that inspired J K Rowling to create Hogwarts makes sense. We also liked the Little Prince session with the Saint Exupéry bracelet. It was worth every minute there (time flew by). But, if you don't like tight, crowded places/queues and capitalism… I recommend you go somewhere else.

    Very beautiful
The bookstore itself is just magnificent. Remember to book in advance! Otherwise you won't get in, there are a lot of people. We paid €8 online but that was deductible from a book from the bookstore. I really liked the place, however there were really too many people, which spoiled the fun (I had been there before one morning...).

    One of a kind
Truly one of a kind. Beautiful and very classy inside. Two floors full of books in English and other languages. Staircase in the middle with a huge stain glass piece in ceiling. Be warned that tickets are only sold online. No cash. Be prepared to wait in line.

    Pretty Store with a price
They were lucky to have to do the line that multiple people talk about, but we had to buy the 8 euro tickets online to be able to enter the bookstore. The bookstore is on the smaller side and the décor is impressive. The vast majority of the books for sale are multiple versions of literary classics. Including pocket size versions of the books and in languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, English, French, etc.

    Superb place!
This place was in our to do list of things to see in Porto and no regrets! Not knowing Harry Potter I didn't know what to expect. The queue seems impressive in front but we bought our tickets online at the same time as the queue was moving, and no waiting! There are certainly a few people (but we were there in the morning) but it's very manageable if you move a little further to the back of the bookstore and don't stop at the entrance wanting to have a photo. Very beautiful staircase, superb stained glass windows, magnificent shelves, and certainly classic works (but it's not just the Little Prince either, and more titles upstairs) in several languages: a treat for book lovers . The price of the entrance ticket (8 euros) is refunded on the purchase of a book (from 15€ for those who have a golden edge). Little tip: there are several checkouts which avoids the queue at the one on the ground floor!

    One question: why?
I understand the desire to turn visitors into book readers. I imagine that before the introduction of the ticket, there were hordes of tourists who entered, took photos and left. Thus the ticket was introduced which however is discounted on the price of any book purchased. The message is clear: we want readers and not simply curious people. The idea of the great classics in an exclusive edition of the bookshop is also attractive. The library is magnificent. So what doesn't add up? It's the feeling of being stuck in a tourist trap. Everything I wrote about the meaning of introducing the ticket, I discovered after the visit, reading what I should have read before. I would suggest rethinking communication, so that the visitor feels wanted as a reader.
