    So beautiful and cheerful
There are so many things to do in Barcelona that you might forget about the Palace of Catalan Music in the Gothic Quarter not far from the cathedral. But you'd miss out on a unique window into Catalan culture if you did. The auditorium itself is one of the richest and most beautiful in Europe; they say that the acoustics in it are quite special. The colors are fabulous: rich and vibrant. Sit and take it all in! There is also a nice cafe inside the Palace and a small gift shop. For 2 euros more, I recommend the guided tour: you'll get to hear the magnificent organ and you'll get a lot of insight into the architect's vision.

Building has the shape of a ship from the outside
I bought a ticket on the spot for 16 euros. There was only a couple in front of me on a Monday morning around 9 am. The palace is magnificent. The roses on the ceiling and everything else in the theatre are very impressive. The building has the shape of a ship from the outside. It must be wonderful to see a show there.

    So so pretty and colorful
I’m so happy I chose to visit it! 👉🏻 Less crowded than Casa Batllo. 👉🏻 Tiny and beautiful. 👉🏻 Didn’t take hours to explore it. 👉🏻 Took great photos. 👉🏻 Relatively cheaper entrance, than other attractions in Barcelona.

A stunning venue and great for a concert
We visited the Palau for a concert so we could see it and experience the music too. It was a candlelit tribute to Queen and it was fantastic. The Palau is stunning - there is so much to look at and take in and the concert was excellent. We really enjoyed our evening

    Modernism at its maximum power
The "Palau de la Musica Catalana" is a concert hall that was built in Modernist style between 1905 and 1908. It is not big, but there are so many amazing details that it can take some time to see it all: the main façade, the foyer, the staircases, the Luis Millet Hall, the main concert hall, the bar. In 1997, the palace de la Música Catalana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Do not miss this experience
We visited the Palau Musica on 11/26 for a Flamenco Guitar program, and it was an afternoon that will live in our family's memory forever. As all of the photos convey, the Palau is breathtakingly beautiful. The Art Nouveau attention to detail is evident in every corner, handle, light switch, and finish. Nothing can prepare you for the grandeur and aesthetic overwhelm. It is heaven for art, architecture, and history lovers. Beyond the visual stimuli, the acoustics are heavenly and the show was incredible. While our family is American, we were visiting with an expat family member and their Catalan partner - each of us found the afternoon to be delightful in every sense. Next time, I'd love to take a tour and better understand the history, recurring themes, and construction. But I cannot recommend more highly seeing/hearing a show in the space if your time in Barcelona allows. It will be a treasured memory!

    Just Beautiful
We decided at the last minute to visit and got lucky by joining the last guided tour of the day. It started with a movie in the Petit Palau. We then walked into the original building to visit the foyer. However a private event precluded us from entering and fully seeing it. We climbed the grand staircase and then entered the amazing concert hall. The central skylight up above was truly a sight to see. Even with the storm clouds outside it still let in a lot of light. The decor was modernism that also incorporated musical muses and so glad we could see a lot of it up close. We were also allowed to walk on stage as our guide continued the tour and then setup for a demonstration of the massive organ. The sound was beautiful and hopefully we can come back to enjoy an actual concert. The Lluis Millet Hall was one floor above the concert hall and contained a special art exhibit. Outside was the balcony where many instagrammable photos were taken with the beautiful mosaic columns. We finished the tour on the balcony over looking the concert hall which was a great perspective to see its entirety. We did find the seats not very comfortable though! Outside the fascade of the Palau was also a must see including the statues of many famous composers. It was not as easy to see all the details due to the surrounding buildings and tight street. Our guide used the 2nd floor balcony to point out details in the reflections to the opposite building’s windows. This should be a must see when in Barcelona. Well worth the time to see this UNESCO designated building.

Amazing experience, catch a live concert if you can.
We had been planning on booking a tour but when we found a guitar and flamenco concert for the last night of our trip we booked it immediately. We paid €42 each for stall seats, the concert was about 90-110 minutes ( no interval) and it flew by. The music was phenomenal, the dancing superb (especially the male dancer) and the encore was astounding - have you ever seen three guitarists and a percussionist play a Michael Jackson melody on ONE guitar??! The building itself is stunning, and I would like to return in daylight to get the effect of the natural light. Hoever it was nice to see it being used for its proper purpose, not just a museum. The bar/ restaurant looked interesting but of course was very busy.

    Stunning and colourful
Emma took us on a lovely tour of the inside and outside of this stunning building, pointing out some of its secrets along the way. I was delighted to be able to fit this in on my last morning in the city. Cannot wait to return to experience a concert in the magical concert hall.

    The Heartbeat of Barcelona Culture
This place is simply amazing. There are 3 reasons to visit here. First, the palace and concert hall are architectural marvels, treating you to sights and sounds you have never seen or heard before. Second, catching a performance here is very special. We were not able to attend an event in the main hall, but thoroughly enjoyed a classical music concert in the smaller venue. It was outstanding! Third, they feature a really high quality gift shop and a top notch restaurant as well. If in Barcelona, the Palau de la Musica is a must do. NOTE: The self guided tour is designed for mobile device download but can be very sketchy. Be sure and pick up a pamphlet in case the downloaded audio doesn't work.

As seen from the sky, this building, designed by the Swiss architects Herzog & DeMeuron, is a perfect equilateral triangle with 180 m long sides and a height of 25 m, suspended on pillars. Geometric spaces, changing tones depending on the light, glass doors and a metallic kaleidoscopic interior are some of the qualities that make up this building’s strong personality. The shape of the courtyards emerges from the juxtaposition of the two urban design elements of the Cerdà Plan and the stretch of road that is the Diagonal. Its rough blue facade is crisscrossed by different strips of glass that suggest the idea of water running down from the roof. The interiors of the auditorium and exhibition halls are designed to be hybrid spaces. The capacity of the Auditorium is 3,084 people.

Despite the fact that its external appearance preserves the physiognomy of an industrial building, its interior enjoys a luxurious baroque decoration with a French touch, that gives it a sense of distinction and unique attractiveness. The sala features expressive lighting and frescos by Salvador Alarma designer of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
