Hotels near Mercedes-Benz Museum

The Museum celebrates the automobile invented by Carl Benz in 1886: it relates its history and tells its stories, bringing both alive by placing them in the context of technology, day-to-day life, social history and popular culture. More than 160 vehicles of all types are the main protagonists. They range from some of the oldest automobiles ever built to legendary racing cars and futuristic research vehicles. Together with other exhibits, they form the centrepiece of the permanent exhibition covering a total of 16,500 square metres in twelve rooms. This unparalleled world can be discovered on two tours that follow a 'Legend' and 'Collection' narrative.

    Great historical tour of Mercedes
A different feel to the Porsche museum, more of a historical walk through of Mercedes over time. It’s probably a longer visit than Porsche due to its size, so it’s a really good chunk of time. We really enjoyed the experience and especially seeing the Gullwing, which was breathtaking.

    Wonderful Experience
What a wonderful surprise this museum was. We went as a family with young adults and everyone came away determined to visit again on our next holiday. While the array of vehicles and history of Mercedes was impressive , the museum is a walk through history covering a large number of events. Easy access from the centre of Stuttgart.

    You won’t be disappointed
The Mercedes Benz museum is a must to visit. There is so much to see across the multiple floors. You can spend as much time as you like, I was in the museum just over 2 hours. At the end of the museum is the shop where there is a range of things to buy from model cars to T-shirts etc. Getting to the museum is quite simple and a short walk from the train station.

    Friday afternoon visit
A great couple of hours spent in this amazing museum! I’m not a car fan but it is an interesting visit, if in the area. We didn’t pre book and paid 12 euros per adult upon entry. They provide free audio headphones for your visit providing various information. There are 9 floors to this unique building in which you start at the top via a lift, and walk down to the ground floor. Toilets and water stations are at most levels . The museum showcases the history of earliest transport to the latest Mercedes vehicles with over 160 models displayed. A gift shop and coffee shop are located on the ground floor. The staff are both approachable and friendly.

    Memorable visit. Worth every moment.
The museum is awesome. I was delighted. The brand expertise can be seen in every piece shown along its 8 floors. I "traveled" along the brand history and the facts showned in pictures, videos, installations etc etc. I am not a car 'aficionado'. So, I "only" spent 5 hours in there:):):)

If you like cars, come! If not...
I'm not a car person and this wearied me after a few hours. But it's well-laid out and very user friendly. My kids were shocked how often it mentioned the war and didn't shy away from the company's involvement with Hitler. I appreciated their candor. But it's a lot of cars. I liked seeing the very first cars and the celebrity cars though. I think my teens were all a bit burned out by it too. My husband could have stayed there for the entire day, I think.

Fantastic visit with 4 ys old kid
Amazing visit through Mercedes’ history and their amazing journey. Cars are fantastic, goes without saying, but the whole concept of having the history of the car maker(s) intertwined with the one of Europe and the World is great. All the models are superb, the cars and also the other vehicles (bus, tracks, …). We were visiting with our 4 years old son and he loved it too. Definitely recommend

With its rich collection of masterworks dating from the fourteenth century to the present, the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart is among Germany’s most popular museums. Both its impressive museum complex and its holdings mirror the link between tradition and modernity. The Staatsgalerie Stuttgart presents its superb collection on some 9,000 square metres of exhibition space offered by the old building of 1843, the famous post-modern Stirling Building, and the Steib Halls constructed in 2002. Among the prominent holdings are the approximately 400,000 works belonging to the Department of Prints, Drawings and Photographs, Early Swabian panel painting and outstanding examples of nineteenth-century Swabian Neoclassicism. The chief emphasis of the museum collection is undoubtedly the Classical Modern period with art spanning the years from 1900 to 1980. Special highlights here are Oskar Schlemmer’s Figurines for the Triadic Ballet of the early 1920s, Henri Matisse’s famous Backs (1909-‒30), numerous works by Picasso including the sculptural group The Bathers (1956), and the Joseph Beuys room installed by the artist himself.
