Wandering through the Luxembourg Gardens is one of the best free things to do in Paris. It covers a huge area of 24 hectares, and has formal landscaped gardens, open grassy lawns, and shaded wooded areas. The highlights here are Marie Medici’s Italian-Renaissance palace, the Medici Fountain, and over 100 monuments and statues scattered throughout the grounds. We spent some time lingering around the palace and the pretty lake just enjoying the surrounds and the sun. I especially enjoyed walking along the terraces lined with a series of marble statues known as ‘the 20 Queens of France’. If you have specific sights that you want to see, then it’s useful to have a map of the gardens because they are so big, you can easily miss things. However if you have the time, then the best approach is to wander freely and simply see what you see. We ambled through the gardens without any particular goals and whilst we certainly didn’t cover everything, it’s all so lovely that we didn’t mind at all.

Picture perfect! Viewing the gardens on a sunny day is like seeing a painting from the Musee D'Orsay come to life. I had to ask myself, Is this real? There are plenty of chairs and places to sit or lounge to relax, read, rest, people watch, or simple take in all the beauty around you.

Beautiful and large park located 700 meters from Notredame, with a large lake with a Palace in the background that allows you to take nice photos. The plus is that there are chairs and loungers free for one to settle, relax and lie or feel facing the lake... I don't know if it's a must, I had it as an option and I loved it.

This is a 23 hectare public park and gardens situated just to the south of the Luxembourg Palace in the 6th arrondissement. It is my favourite of the Paris city parks, providing very well landscaped grounds with numerous walking paths under the shade of mature trees. You will find over 100 monuments scattered throughout, a grass lawn and basin with lovely manicured flowerbeds, terraces, cafe and plenty of quiet space, metal chairs to rest and attractive, quaint grounds throughout the Garden. It is a lovely place to spend a hour or two casually strolling or relaxing during visits to Paris.

The Statue of Liberty was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. It is the original of the Statue of Liberty sent to New York. A replica of it is near the west entrance. It is the opposite side of RER station. At about 2 meters high, it is smaller than the Statue of Liberty in Odaiba, Tokyo. It is a very large park. There are a lot of families picnicking and running on weekends.

We were there on a beautifully sunny Sunday afternoon. There was a Salvation Army brass band on the bandstand, people renting model boats to sail on the pond, and places to buy ice-cream and beverages. The park was full of people relaxing, sitting around in the metal chairs and enjoying themselves. It was delightful.

3/24/24 - After lots of sitting the previous day due to long flights and lots of weather delays, we got a few hours sleep and decided we needed to get outside and walk. It was a very cool (for us Floridians) day but it was partly sunny. We walked from our hotel to the gardens and spent about another 2 hours leisurely walking around this enormous area. Spring was showing a there were many more blooms on trees and flowering plants in the ground than we had anticipated. We watched families playing on fun looking area set aside, and we believe a fee for its use. Others were sailing little boats rented from a vendor on the little fountain/pond area. The wind did pick up and we left as it seemed that rain was threatening again. However, the outing was exactly what we needed to refresh our spirits and get some exercise as well.

I was there for four days. I stayed in Hotel Paris Legendre. Métro at either end of the street. I had pre-booked Tour Eiffel and Sainte-Chapelle. Don't turn up to either of these attractions without pre-booking. Weather was perfect for Eiffel Tower visit, late afternoon. My visit to Sainte-Chapelle was somewhat spoiled by the lack of sunlight on the day. I didn't visit my favourite place, Luxembourg Gardens, because of the rainy day. Have a Plan "B" for these occasions. Despite hosting two Olympics, the cost of eating out was affordable. A lot of places/pubs had "Happy Hours". Pint of Saint-Omer Blonde for €3.80 was perfect. Lovely, tasty lager. If the weather picks up, I'll have another weekend in Paris.

We had arrived to Paris early in the morning, and had to drop our luggage at a Stasher location so we picked one next to these gardens. Once our luggage was dropped off, we got to go right into the gardens and it was such a nice visit. Everything is nice and open, lots of shade trees, and it was just a beautiful place to relax, grab a chair, and do some people watching. We loved the grand basin, we got to see one of the statues of liberty, and we got to use the public restrooms, (which are actually very nice). We finished our visit by stopping by the Medici fountain and then headed out of the gardens to continue our sightseeing for the day. It was a very relaxing stop and I'm so glad we didn't miss it!
