The brightest stars of Los Baleares are Majorca, Ibiza and peaceful Minorca. Situated between France and Africa, the archipelago's islands each have distinct characters. Majorca is the most developed and offers a mass of hotels, fast food joints and crowded beaches. Ibiza is loved by a hard partying set, including many gay visitors. It is also increasingly popular with upscale travellers, drawn by the chameleon island's reputation as the new Provence. Pick an island and stake a claim on its sand.

The landscape of Soller is lush and green, dotted with fruit trees and olive groves, and makes a gorgeous backdrop for a hike or bike ride. Tour the gorgeous botanical gardens or marvel at the lacy sandcastle architecture of the Sant Bartomeu Church. Fans of Antoni Gaudi may recognize the features of the Banco de Soller, which was built by Gaudi student and collaborator Joan Rubió i Bellver.

You’ll find 17th-century, Italian-style buildings and an interesting old cathedral here. However, many travellers are drawn to Ciudadela’s lively nightlife and fiestas, including the Processo dels Tres Tocs on January 17 and a celebration of Sant Joan, the town’s patron saint, on June 23–24. They feature dancing, parades and pomada, a drink combining gin and lemon.

Far from Ibiza's party towns, Santa Eulalia del Rio attracts a calmer clientele with its white-sand beaches and laid-back nightlife. Traditional Mediterranean buildings and a 16th-century church overlook a yacht-filled marina, while Ibiza's only river borders the town's southern reaches.

The small city of Sitges parties big. The nightlife is thumping, the people are gorgeous and the annual Carnival festival is utterly epic. A countercultural touchstone, Sitges is lively and very LGBT friendly. Native food and beverage is sublime—you simply must sample the Malvasia wine, made from grapes descending from Ancient Greece. Don’t miss the Museu Romàntic "Can Llopis" or, if you’re in Sitges in October, the world-renowned Sitges Film Festival, a cinematic extravaganza of horror, sci-fi and fantasy.

Positioned at the eastern tip of the Costa del Sol, Nerja boasts nearly 10 miles of powdery beaches featuring activities like water skiing, scuba diving and sailing. Although tourist-oriented, it hasn't been overtaken by high-rises, and its huge promenade delivers panoramic Mediterranean views.

Konakli is an attractive alternative to nearby Alanya, with miles of golden beaches, seafront villas, and palm-fringed promenades. Framed by the distant peaks of the Taurus Mountains, the beach town is a firm favourite among both locals and expats.

The city of Bangor is perhaps most well known as the setting for many of Stephen King's stories, a reputation that has led to the nickname Transylmainia. There is more to Bangor than just tales of horror, however. There is a thriving arts scene, with museums, galleries, theaters, a symphony orchestra and a popular sidewalk art festival every summer. The area around Bangor includes the coastal Acadia National Park and the wooded Baxter State Park, providing plenty of outdoor adventure.

Situated on the banks of the river Godavari, the city of Nashik, also known as Nasik, is a major Hindu pilgrimage center. Nashik is a bustling township with a blend of the ancient and the modern. Scattered across the city are numerous forts and majestic temples that vie for space with factories and other symbols of Modern India. The Kumbh Mela is the major attraction of Nashik. Occurring once every twelve years it draws innumerable devotees to the city. Other attractions around the city include - Pandavleni Caves, Muktidham Temple, Kalaram Temple among others. Day excursions to Shirdi, Someshwar, Wani are also very popular.
