Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited Punta Patiño lodge from 28-31 Dec 2016 booked via Ancon Expeditions. The description of the accommodation stated 'rustic cabin'. It is far from real, what is real is the overpriced trip for what they offer. We were placed in a dirty wooden cabin with a filthy bathroom lacking any basic comfort (for instance, no electricity available during daylight, so no air conditioning, making it impossible to go to your cabin for a rest due to the intense heat). To make things worse, the room was only cleaned once during our stay. Also the generator broke down in the middle of one night and couldn't be repaired, making it impossible to breathe and sleep inside the cabin without air conditioning. All this was a shared opinion with the other travellers in our group (another couple said their WC was 'brown' when they first came into their cabin). But the worst of it all was the finding of TWO SCORPIONS inside our room on two consecutive days, one of them in the shower curtain. Only luck saved us from danger as we were able to spot them, but it was terrifying anyway and the outcome could have been very different. If rooms were clean, if cabins had no cracks, and if proper maintenance had taken place and applied specific insecticide products throughout door frames, it would prevent SCORPIONS getting in. Not just the housekeeping was terrible, food was very basic and clearly insufficient. How come fish portions be so little in a place surrounded by sea with cheap prices paid to local fishermen for their catch as we saw with our own eyes? This was compensated by plenty of rice if you wanted. Clearly Ancon Expeditions is making a big profit charging a lot of money to unaware clients and then providing horrendous accommodation and meals. Stay away from this place, it's not worth it. The only good thing was the series of walks through the jungle with our guide Carlos, very knowledgeable and friendly, but you will basically see only birds. We definitely won't come back.
