Detailed Reviews
We have just returned from a most memorable two day stay at Foxgloves Bed and Breakfast, hosted by Grace and Patrick. From the moment we arrived we were delighted with every aspect of this amazing Victorian Homestead, so beautifully furnished and serviced. Grace was a charming and most caring host who attended to our every need! Delicious meals were provided with many unexpected treats! The three bedrooms, dining room and lounge are separate from the host's accommodation. A fridge is available to chill your BYO wine and a coffee station with a Nespresso machine and an assortment of Nespresso capsules is provided.
The isolation of Foxgloves ensures beneficial peace and quiet. Because Foxgloves is nestled among the rolling hills and surrounded by beautiful trees and garden we woke each morning to the sound of glorious birdsong and, a little later, to a rooster crowing. Pure magic!! Raglan was only a 25 minute drive from Foxgloves and well worth a visit with local art and craft for sale, trendy cafes, historic buildings, a fascinating Museum and a famous surfing beach. We will never forget Grace and Patrick's wonderful hospitality. We felt pampered and cared for in their warm, comfortable and beautifully furnished home and as a result we long to return....

We stayed at Foxgloves Christmas and Boxing Day and what a wonderful experience. To start with Foxgloves is magnificent... the Victorian homestead is so comfortable and with amazing decor. You step back in time when you enter the door, from the lavish bedroom and bathroom to the stunning living areas, everything is Victorian splendor!
Set in a beautiful, peaceful surroundings with lovely gardens. A nice spot to sit and forget the hustle and bustle of the city, listen to the birds, resident sheep and chickens.
Food, wow what a feast! Homemade pizzas from the pizza oven and for Christmas, roast pork, turkey and all the trimmings. Dessert was to die for, the best pavlova EVER!
Grace and Patrick are wonderful hosts, wonderful people who make you feel totally at home. Spending Christmas with them will go down as one of our most memorable Christmas's in a very long time.
If you are wanting a peaceful retreat in a luxurious homestead Foxgloves is the place for you!!!!

We booked a weekend getaway at Foxgloves to get away from the kids and were not disappointed. This hidden gem provided the perfect place for us to relax and unwind. Grace, our friendy host, made us feel like royalty. We were provided a scrumptious breakfast every morning and a mouth watering meal for dinner. Grace and Patrick have spent alot of time and effort doing up the place in the old Victorian style and their attention to detail is outstanding! I would highly recommend taking the time to spend a night or two at Foxgloves. We will definitely be going back!

We stayed 2 nights at Foxgloves over New Years. We absolutely loved it! The house is beautiful, and it's in a great spot. Our room had lovely french doors opening out to the hillside. Watching the sunrise out the doors from the comfort of our warm bed was amazing. Grace and Patrick were very gracious hosts and we were surprised with a bottle of Moet on New Years day morning! Patrick took our daughter out both mornings to collect eggs for our breakfast and she had a blast (we also had some time to enjoy a quiet coffee which was great as well!). We were impressed with the quality of wine Grace and Patrick provided. We also appreciated the after dinner liquer which had originally been made by Patrick's father. We would absolutely reccomend Foxgloves, it is a special place and Grace and Patrick are delightful!

Where to start? There are so many good things to say about my stay at Foxgloves. The location may seem out of the way but that adds to the experience. The silence at night is amazing, so, so peaceful. Even during the day, it is rare to hear any noise other than nature during the day.
The attention to detail regarding the decor is second to none. It is clear that a lot of love has gone into Foxgloves. The cleanliness is immaculate and you just sink into the beds to have a really good nights sleep. The food cannot be faulted, with fresh eggs from the resident chickens everyday and fresh vegetables from the garden.
Finally, the owners Grace and Patrick. They are so accomodating, they made me feel so welcome and at home. It is truely a great place to stay.

After a month in NZ, this was one of my most favorite stays. I only met Tony as his wife was away on business. I was attended to like a King. The place itself is about 30 minutes from supermarkets and the like, but you will not need to bring food as Tony cooks up meals full of fresh ingredients from his garden, his chickens, and most importantly, from his heart.
Peaceful, relaxing, and so friendly. I hesitate even to review it so fondly as I don't want it to be sold-out the next time I come around, but Tony and all of his efforts should be rewarded. You will be if you book this location.
If there is perfection in a BNB, this is it. (Ive stayed in about 50 of them.)

These people are living my dream - 3 themed rooms with great attention to detail. There was only one other couple staying at the same time as us. Dining room (beautifully set for meals) and lounge available. Our room had french doors onto a verandah - we slept with the doors open. A hot tub (quite hot!!) and an open fireplace outdoors - lovely to sit under the stars, so peaceful. Wander around the garden, admire the vege patch, talk to the hens or sit on the landing and read. The dogs are really well behaved and are not at all intrusive - Tony and Cheryl are very welcoming and friendly and also not intrusive! We dined in one night - a lovely meal - too much for me. Homemade vinegarette/marmalade/relish. Breakfasts were also yum.
The surrounding countryside is scenic rural NZ - we drove back to Auckland on the gravel back road exiting at Port Waikato - well worth braving a metal road. Raglan ( 30 minutes away) is an interesting seaside village - not just a surf beach, plenty of choices for swimming and watersport. The local pub (next to the Waingaro hot pools) served up a decent pub meal "real ham, not that sandwich stuff you get in town" said the chef. This was our first B & B experience - loved it.

We had a weekend here recently. Very impressed. Cheryl and Tony the owners are great. We stayed for dinner both nights. If you take this option (and we recommend you do), make sure you eat nothing during the day as Tony cooks up a huge meal! Saves having to travel out for food and the meals were lovely.
The house is cosy and very nicely done up and the bedroom large, comfortable and immaculately clean. The weather wasn't that condusive to being outside, but the spa pool was great to relax in before dinner and you can feed the goats and sheep any left over toast after breakfast. Oh yes, breakfast is huge and tasty too.
Located out in the "wops", it's in a good location for exploring the Raglan/West Waikato area, or just reading a book and lazing about.
Close enough to Auckland to make it good weekend away destination.
We plan to be back before too long.

What can we say - this is our new 'bolt hole' from Auckland. Terrific hosts, very generous (to say the least) and tasty food, very comfy beds and a lovely lounge area. Old school (in a very good way) service that is too sadly lacking in most places. We felt really comfortable here and you know and feel that a great experience for every guest is really important. Beautiful setting and no problem with internet or cell reception. This place is totally about lux relaxing and escaping. We will definitely be back!

Booked on to stay at foxgloves for 2 nights with my partner but ended staying for 3! The accommodation is beautiful, the food & wine great value and the host amazingly accommodating. Would recommend to anyone as a lovely, peaceful getaway for some R&R way from the hussel and bussel of life to recharge your batteries.
