Arquà Petrarca is a tiny town spread out over a hiilside, with an upper village and a lower village. Borgo Petrarco is a "guest house" right between the upper and lower villages. As a guest house it provides limited services - towels are changed every three days, there is no breakfast on site, etc. But there is a lovely small swimming pool, the staff is around much of the time and is very helpful, there are several excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk, and breakfast is provided at a bar a few minutes walk away. There are only 2 basic choices for breakfast, but they are both good, and the owner of the bar is very pleasant. The bar does a good trade in the mornings with a lot of people dropping in for a quick coffee on the way to work, and the selection of baked goods is excellent. Borgo Petrarco has evidently been relatively recently renovated in a modern Italian style. Our rooms were fairly basic but very nice and well equipped. It is an excellent choice (perhaps the only one?) if you want to stay in town. Getting to Borgo Petrarco was something of a challenge because you have to go on roads that I think are closed to normal traffic (if you let them know your license plate in advance you get some sort of special dispensation!), and to get to the parking for Borgo Petrarco you have to go 50 meters down a narrow road down a hill that most Americans would not think was a road that cars could go on. But you get used to it, and we were able to park right at the hotel. There are a lot of hiking/walking trails that you can access directly from the hotel, so you can walk and eat well without nhaving to drive anywhere.

These are the only positive figures: Good standard room, nice idea of common space where you can prepare meals Negative aspects: Pool with 10 sunbeds, shade only for two Paid parking required as there are no other places nearby But the most scandalous thing is the breakfast described by the owner as excellent. It is done in a bar 100 m from the structure and is poor in quantity and bad in quality. Alternative was two slices of bread with jam or a poorly cooked croissant. We have not tried the salty alternative The second morning we went to Monselice where we had a great breakfast

This place is absolutely incredible. The people that own and run it are as friendly as can possibly be. The location is superb. The rooms are very clean, big, and comfortable. The pool is phenomenal, boasts great views and is the only one in the area. We met the owner, Fabio, and his close friend Max paratrooper and they were the friendliest people ever! Great food recs, great wine recs, incredible stories, all you could ever want. We are definitely coming back here!

1. Too pricey for so weak room airconditioning. First room temp stays 25-27°C, didnt sleep at all. The next day they transfer us to a suite with 2 floors and with 23°C. Enough to sleep at night, but not good enough to enjoy a lazy afternoon nap, because temp in the afternoon is warmer, so the room is warmer.
2. Room has mosquitoes, 1st room and 2nd room.
3. Outside, parking or pool area has mosquitoes
4. View next to the pool is pretty but you can't enjoy hanging out there with your loud kid around 12pm-3pm and in the evening because of the angry old italian neighbor who likes his siesta.
5. The host is helpful, after our complains on our first night, she changed our room, and gave us wall outlet mosquito repellant. But of course the damge has already been done, we are already eaten alive by italian mosquitos. Apparently i am allergic to it, bitten area swells like hell.
6. Breakfast is not in the same place, it is not far, breakfast was ok. Just make sure you dont take the way with stairs when going to the breakfast place, the mosquitoes there are hungry!

Truly one of the most beautiful villages in Italy: on the occasion of the feast of the jujube we visited the Petrarch's house getting lost in the narrow streets and we were pleasantly amazed by the various places where you can taste the specialties of the Euganean hills.
